What is CASA? In “Your County”, Georgia, six-year old Corey and his three sisters were placed in foster care due to neglect, and suddenly their whole world changed … Each year over 200 neglected and abused children in the Enotah Judicial Circuit (Lumpkin, White, Union and Towns Counties) experience foster care. These children are often separated from their siblings and can languish in a confusing and complicated system of foster homes, courts, social workers and DFACS. The Enotah CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) pro-gram is central to fulfilling society’s most fundamental obliga-tion by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family. The lives and well being of children are hanging in the bal-ance. Every neglected and abused child should have a CASA volunteer who will help ensure their safe passage out of foster care, to the benefit of their children, and generations to come. Enotah CASA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which provides programs that recruit, screen, train, and supervise CASA volunteers. Enotah CASA is committed to maintaining the highest level of advocacy for all of Northeast Georgia’s dependent children.
