Flexural and Transverse Testing Machines and Accessories The fexural and transverse strength o concrete is o interest to engineers or many reasons. Movement o structures which may be induced by e.g. temperature changes, ground vibrations, cyclic loading o road pavements and many other external infuences, will set up internal stresses within a concrete member. There is no clearly dened relationship between compressive and fexural strength. Generally it can be assumed or most purposes that fexural strength o normal concrete is about 10% o the compressive strength achieved in the same concrete. Modern concrete technology utilises a wide range o materials such as glass or steel bres to improve the fexural strength o the concrete. These modi ed concretes oten require the use o special tests and equipment. Lower loads are used to test concrete in fexure; however, the shape and size o test specimens is such that larger and oten heavy specimens can be di cult to handle. ELE has designed the range o machines oered to provide or ease o specimen positioning and subsequent testing. The range o fexural test equipment oered provides a wide variety o choice and test methods including low strength compression tests using optional ball seating assemblies. 85 37 Concrete - Flexural and Transverse Machines and Accessories For 24/7 online ordering, payment & order tracking go to www.ele.com
