AXIAL FANS
GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
DESCRIPTION
The EKWXA/EKWXBA liquid chillers are compact units, designed to be installed on the floors or on the ground and are suitable for outdoor installation. They are available in cooling only (EKWXA) and heat pump (EKWXBA) versions. Several acoustic options combined with possibility to integrate hydraulic kit offer a great flexibility of installation and operation, allowing them to adapt to each project. The units are delivered completely finished and tested, with an appropriate refrigerant charge of R410A for their correct operation.
COMPRESSORS
Scroll type compressors, particularly designed for heat pump application, allowing a wide range of operating limits.
Vibration-free operation thanks to the internal anti-vibration system of each compressor and to the installation on a base frame fitted with anti-vibration pads.
Lubrication is ensured by high quality oil resisting to high temperatures and eliminating formation of foam.
CABINET
Made of galvanized sheet steel, coated with oven baked polyester powder (RAL 1013), allowing an optimal resistance against corrosion and bad weather.
The whole cabinet is internally lined with thermo-acoustic insulation, with M1 fire resistance class and thickness of 5 mm.
The cabinet is composed of self-supporting framework fitted with panels giving access to compressor, electrical board, fan, etc.
OUTDOOR CIRCUIT
Coil consists of copper tubes and aluminum fins.
Expansion valve.
Axial type fans, totally enclosed, are suitable for bad weather and are with permanent lubrication. They are composed of aluminum blades, designed to generate low sound level and are fixed on external rotor of a high efficiency type motor having IP-54 protection and F class of insulation. Fans are equipped with thermal protection by internal temperature sensors and with external safety grille.
INDOOR CIRCUIT
Refrigerant/water heat exchanger is of brazed stainless steel plate type. Heat exchanger is perfectly insulated and is fitted with an electric heater to prevent the freezing of the water present in the exchanger, when the machine is stopped.
Thermostatic expansion valve with external equalization.
REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT
Single refrigerant circuit with R410A.
Circuit consists of refrigeration type dehydrated copper tubes.
It includes filter/dryer.
Schrader valves with easy access provided for refrigerant checking and charging.
The heat pump version contains suction accumulator located on the suction line of the compressor, protecting it against liquid slugging.
Liquid receiver, 4-way valve for cycle reversal and check valves are also provided in heat pump version.
PROTECTION DEVICES
High pressure pressostat (cut-off at 42 bar) with automatic reset.
Compressor crankcase heater.
Antifreeze protection for water.
Compressor phase control.
REFRIGERANT
This product is hermetically sealed and contains R-410A which is a HFC fluorinated greenhouse gas.

WATER CIRCUIT SAFETY
Differential Pressure Control
Redundant security element to protect the unit against the problem of lack of water circulation. This element is an option for all the chiller units that would be placed in the plate exchanger's terminals next to water inlet and outlet sensors.
This element is an additional complement to the safety of the equipment, as we remember that the installation must have a flow switch. Flow Switch
Security element to protect the unit against the problem of lack of water circulation.
This component is supplied separately by its assembly in the installation.
We remind you again that every chiller must be protected with a flow switch.
FOR ENERGY SAVING
Compressor Soft Starter
This element is an electronic device for the compressors protection that allows to reduce the high intensity in the start of the compressor. Condensation Control by Voltage Variator
This element is necessary in case that the chiller unit operates in cold mode with outside temperatures below 10ºC (see operating limits section in cold mode).
By controlling the condensation, the fan speed is varied in cold mode depending on the condenser pressure of the refrigerant itself. This allows for extra performance or increased efficiency of the unit. EC Fan
The use of EC axial fans is a way to increase the efficiency of the chiller as well as an improvement in the acoustic level. An EC fan is a DC motor with an electronic switching.
These fans mean a significant saving in terms of the power level consumed which increases the efficiency of the unit, both in cold mode and in heat mode. At the same time and for the same airflow performance, due to the tooth's bladed shape, the sound power level produced is lower.

Compressor Sound Insulation
Insulated compressor blanket that surrounds the compressor in order to reduce the sound power level produced by the unit.

The operation or control of these units requires a voltage of 230 volts. For this, in installations where there is no NEUTRAL terminal supply, an additional transformer incorporated in the equipment generates the single-phase power required to control the unit. In this case the control of the unit is carried out through a command physically separate from the unit.
This option implies that the unit must be previously adapted for MODBUS connection. Networked Equipment Possibility of interconnection of networked equipment in master / slave configuration. One unit is defined as master and all other equipment (up to a maximum of 3) as slave units.

CORRECTION FACTORS
For the Use of Antifreeze The incorporation of ethylene glycol into the water circuit solves the problem of the formation of ice in the water circuit, whereby the unit expands its range of outlet temperatures of the fluid. However the use of this antifreeze reduces the performance of the unit. To obtain the actual values it is necessary to multiply the standard values by the following factors depending on the concentration of antifreeze used.
CPF Correction Factor for Cooling Capacities (Capacity loss fixing a difference of 5ºC) CQA Correction Factor for Water Flow Maintenance Δ k (Water flow fixing a diference of 5ºC) CDQ1 Correction Factor for Pressure Drop (Evaporator pressure drop with water inlet temperatura fixed at 12ºC) CDQ2 Correction Factor for Pressure Drop (Evaporator pressure drop at the water outlet with a temperature 10ºC higher than the freezing temperature).

OPTIONAL HYDRONIC KIT
This option consists of the impulsion water pump and an expansion vessel in order to regulate the volume variations of the hydraulic circuit because of the change of the water density value as a function of temperature. In addition, it is possible to request the incorporation of the inertia tank. In this case the equipment incorporates:
Pressure gauge.
Safety valve set at 3 bar.
Connections for filling and emptying the water circuit.
