Querying the eCHD
Both simple and complex queries are possible
Basic search categories:
Lemma(s) – searches for particular lemma(s)
General search
Morphological search
Text search – does not search for particular texts within the eCHD, but rather texts as separate objects
All-purpose – allows for a different style of general search Also allows for searches of particular texts within the dictionary

Allows particular parts of the dictionary article to be searched Allows for x amount of
intervening words between the search criteria; also allows the user to search for any combination of the criteria or the order entered

Allows for nested items (subcategories) to be searched. Here, “preterit” is selected

Creates a “Summary of references” query
Enter or select desired text
All references to the texts in:Morphology,Semantic Analysisand “other” (= notes and discussion);results can be exported to ExcelCitation form; grammatical parse,

Summary of References for KBo 17.43“Semantic Analysis”
For longer articles, the path of the references, including the meaning of the subsection in which it appears, is given
Creates a tabular summary of all occurrences of these texts within the eCHD
Multiple queries: allow for searching of multiple categories
Shows the order of the multiple categories being searched
Allows multiple instances of one category to be added/deleted
Search criteria: here tab 1 is for “sheep slaughter,” tab 2 is “bull slaughter,” and tab 3 is “goat slaughter”
The numbers here (“1”, “2”, “4”) represent the number of occurrences of each separate query
These are the overall results for an “OR” search
Contextual Queries: allow for complex queries of multiple search categories

The hierarchy of search criteria: here “Texts, by Date and Script” and “Texts, by CTH number” are under “Lemma”
Lemmas are restricted to “P” volume
Limits the Text date to “Old Script”
Limits CTH to Rituals (CTH 390-500)
