EHS Legal Update Service
What is it?
Our legal update service keeps track of a wide range of new and amended legislation, guidance and consulta-
tions across the environmental, energy and health & safety fields. We review a wide range of sources to en-
sure we fully understand the changing requirements and identify those that may be of relevance to your sec-
tor and organisation.
What are the benefits?
The benefits include:
• Formalising the process of identifying existing and new legislation
• Assessing which legislation is relevant and how it applies to your organisation
• Ensuring that changes do not ‘slip through the net’
• Providing advance warning of any forthcoming changes
• Reducing time spent internally compiling this information
• Compliance with the relevant clauses of ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001
• Ultimate assurance that you are aware of and meeting your compliance obligations.
How ClearLead can help
We can help by taking the stress and hard work out of keeping your organisation up-to-date with rapidly
changing legislation and associated guidance. Sources we draw on include:
• Central Government sources including all major departments (Defra, BEIS, DfT, etc)
• Environment Agency
• Health & Safety Executive
• Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) publications and webinars
• CEDREC
• ENDS Report
• Certification Body websites
• Specialist memberships and institutes (Institute of Waste Management, Energy Institute, CIBSE, etc).
Benefits of working with ClearLead
• We’re a market-leading consultancy with a wealth of experience in energy management and environ-
mental legal compliance
• We offer support tailored specifically to your needs – not a generic approach
• We’re flexible. We can help you cover some or all EHS-related areas , at the intervals of most use to you.
Our approach
Our approach is tailored to your needs. However, we will usually start by reviewing existing legislation to iden-
tify what is relevant to you and documenting this in an agreed format. If you already have a legal register then
we can work within any pre-existing format.
This will then be updated at an agreed frequency – usually six-monthly in April and October, as this is when
much new legislation is published. We also highlight changes since the last update in an agreed format that
you can use to circulate the information internally.
We can also evaluate your compliance status against these requirements and identify any further actions to
ensure compliance. We typically use a red/amber/green colour-coding system to flag areas at risk of non-
compliance.
Follow-on and related services
Should the review find any relevant areas of non-compliance, we can offer support to ensure that you become
compliant, via a range of bespoke services. We can also act as a confidential intermediary between you and
the appropriate regulator should this be required.
Case studies
Our consultants have been providing this service to diverse long-standing, high-profile clients for many years,
in some cases spanning several decades. Our clients include Bentley Motors Ltd, PD Ports Group, and Severn
Waste Services, all of whom use our services as part of their certified environmental and in some cases health
& safety and energy management systems.
We also work for many smaller companies without such formal systems, but who want reassurance that they
are meeting their compliance obligations in a cost-effective way.
We would be pleased to provide references from clients who are using our services in this area.
