The parent company of EHMC has been in the hospitality business since 1979, providing education and high quality hotel management systems to leading hotels in Canada, the US and Europe. The founder of EHMC, Ken Honborg, realized there was a significant gap in the education of up and coming hoteliers in Canada. Ken HonborgKen has 30 years of International business experience, including senior management positions with CP Hotels (now Fairmont Hotels and Resorts), Executive positions with leading hospitality sys-tems companies and has owned over 50 businesses during his career. His educational background includes Law, an MBA in International Business from world renowned University of Liverpool, UK and dozens of industry and teaching certifications. He has written articles for leading industry magazines and conducted seminars at the annual conventions of the Hotel Association of Cana-da, Alberta Hotel Association, Manitoba Hotel Association (Centrex) and the Annual BC Hotel Convention. Mr. Honborg also taught hospitality programs for the Vancouver School Board and was Dean of Imperial Hotel Management College before founding EHMC.

Program Overview:The Dual Hotel/Food & Beverage Management Pro-gram is intensive as well as comprehensive. Building on the foundation provided in the one year program. In the space of two years, students will complete a total of 16 courses, based on the curriculum created by the Educatio-nal Institute of American Hotel and Lodging Association, which will allow them to gain the knowledge and master the skills needed in both Hotel and Food & Beverage Ma-nagement. The courses are overseen by highly qualified instructors, each with over 10 years of experience in the Hospitality industry.

Course Description: EHMC offers rolling admission, which allows students to join the program at any module. This system brings more diversity and range of experience to the classroom, by enabling students to learn from each other. In addition, EHMC offers several complex, prac-tical and enriching workshops in various areas such as basic food and beverage practices, professional behavior & attitude development, resume building and many more. Through shadowing and training with hospitality professionals, our students will continue to streng-then their Hotel and Food & Beverage Management skills, which are crucial to the overall success of the student. Program Overview: As the tourism industry continues to expand and develop internationally and with the Canadian tourism market on the rise, there is a growing demand for educated and experienced hospita-lity managers. The 1-Year Hotel Management Diploma Program is designed to help students fulfill this demand by providing them with both practical experience and academic training, helping form a solid foundation for a promising and successful executive level hospitality career. Students typically spend half the day in the classroom, while spending the other half applying those academic skills in a practical setting. Executive Hotel Management College is the only hospitality school operating in partnership with a major hotel chain. Mayfair Hotels and Resorts own and operate leading hotels and resorts providing a wide range of opportunities for prac-ticum placements. Students will learn first-hand the managerial and supervisorial responsibilities in all primary hotel departments. EHMC works very closely with both the student and our hotel par-tners to gauge the best fit and placement for students. Based on skill-level, goals and interest, students will have the opportunity to move through various departments and hotels within the Mayfair Hotel and Resort group and other leading hotel companies.

Course Description: The 12 management courses cover all major departments within the hotel, providing stu-dents with the great overview of hotel management. The three month program is ideal for students interested in an overview of the hospitality industry. Introductory courses in Hotel and Food and Beverage Management provide a starting point for students looking to work in hotel and restaurant management positions. Four Industry recognized AHLA courses and EHMC’s business preparation program is included to offer a starting point to work in the industry, or continue your studies – all courses are fully transferable towards the 6 month Hospitality Management Operations Certificate or EHMC’s one and two year Executive Management diploma programs.

Building on the knowledge gained from the three month program, the Hospitality Management Operations Certificate provides a well rounded combination of more advanced Management level operations courses. A total of 8 AHLA courses are included in the program, along with EHMC’s proprie-tary Service Excellence and Business Operations module. Upon completion, students can also continue their studies by transferring to our One Year Hotel Management Diploma Program, or Two year Dual diploma program with Paid Work experience.
