eHealth NSWEstablished in July 2014 as the dedicated organisation within NSW Health to guide eHealth strategy and planning, set eHealth policy and standards, and lead implementation and operations.

Our focus is on improving health outcomes for patients/communities, and strengthening NSW health system through the safe and effective use of information and communication technologies.

In order to implement state-wide programs and support local innovation, eHealth NSW works in partnership with Local Health Districts (LHDs), Specialty Health Networks, Pillars and Agencies.

Currently, running 24 programs across 6 portfolios (3 major portfolios are Clinical, Corporate and Infrastructure)

– Ranging in size from total cost <$10M to total cost >$100M

– FY15/16 program budget of $170M

Key Stats for 2015-16• The Health Wide Area Network (HWAN) was deployed to over 180

rural sites providing secure broadband networking in rural and remote parts of NSW

• StaffLink (ERP) implemented statewide providing 140,000 staff access to HR data; processed over $8.5 billion in annual salaries, 3 million invoices and 1 million requisitions and purchase orders

• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system went live at 104 sites

• At June 2016, more than 73% of health employees were using electronic medical records across NSW Health facilities to provide care

• Electronic charts were opened more than 12 million times, a 30% increase over the previous year

• 195 NSW Health hospitals were connected to the national My Health Record (via HealtheNet)

• More than 900,000 hospital discharge summaries were sent via secure messaging to GPs and more than 200,000 were sent to MHR

• Our State-wide Service Desk handled over 800,000 requests for support and information
