PURPOSE

• THE  PURPOSE  OF  THIS  PROJECT  IS  FIND OUT  WHETHER  THE  EGGS  WILL  FLOAT IN SALT WATER OR  IN PLAIN WATER.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

• WHEN SALT IS DISSOLVED IN WATER , AS IT IS IN  OCEAN WATER, THAT DISSOLVED SALT ADDS TO THE MASS OF THE WATER MAKES THE WATER DENSER.

• EGGS ARE LAYED FROM CHICKEN, HENS, AND MORE ANIMALS.

HYPOTHESIS

• MY HYPOTHESIS IS THAT THE EGG IN THE SALT WATER WILL FLOAT BETTER BECAUSE SALT HELPS THINGS TO RISE. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU ARE COOKING PASTA, YOU ADD WATER AND SALT AND THE PASTA. THE SALT HELPS THE PASTA RISE AND COOK FASTER.

MATERIALS

• TWO EGGS• WATER• SALT• TWO TALL DRINKING GLASSES

PROCEDURE

• POUR WATER INTO GLASSES UNTIL IT IS ABOUT HALF FULL.

• STIR IN LOTS OF SALT (ABOUT 6 TABLESPOONS).

• CAREFULLY POUR IN PLAIN WATER UNTIL THE GLASS IS NEARLY FULL (BE CAREFUL TO NOT DISTURB OR MIX THE SALTY WITH THE PLAIN WATER ).

• GENTLY LOWER THE EGG INTO THE WATER .

VARIABLES

• THE VARIABLE OF THE PROJECT IS THE EGGS .THE EGG STAYS THE SAME.

• THE DEPENDENT VARIABLE IS THE WATER. THE SALT IS ADDED IN THE WATER.

CONCLUSION

• MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THE EGG IN THE SALT WATER FLOAT BETTER THAN THE EGG IN THE PLAIN WATER. IN ALL THREE (3) TRIALS,THE EGG IN THE SALT WATER FLOAT.SO THEREFORE, MY HYPOTHESIS WAS CORRECT.
