Effective treatment for alcohol and drug addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Seabrook is a labor of love, founded by Jerry and Peg Diehl as a non-profit to help families recover from the ravages of addiction, just as their own family had recovered. That primary purpose -- to help others -- has remained constant as Seabrook has grown.
Today, Seabrook is an internationally known addiction treatment network providing comprehensive detox and rehabilitation from alcohol and drug addiction and co-occurring disorders.
Through fierce dedication to mission, integrity, and effective emerging addiction therapies, Seabrook has achieved elite CARF accreditation status. Our patients receive the highest quality treatment.
Nestled in rural Bridgeton, New Jersey on a beautifully manicured 40-acre estate, we are accessible to city centers, yet secluded enough to feel safe and secure -- an ideal environment for recovery.
We believe recovery is possible for every family.
is heart and science
Margaret “Peg” Diehl Founder, LCADC, ICADC from 1974-2016Peg Diehl helped write practically every chapter in Seabrook’s rich history. Peg designed and implemented Seabrook’s original family treatment program. She was a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC). In 2004, she became one of the first Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LCADC) in New Jersey. Her influence will carry on for years to come.
Jerome “Jerry” DiehlFounder, President from 1974-1989In the early years of his own recovery, Jerry Diehl made it his life’s work to help people struggling with addiction. He saw an enormous need for treatment in Southern New Jersey, where he and his family lived. Seabrook was born around a kitchen table in Ocean City. Today, more than 75,000 people have been treated at five locations.

Community, continuity, and structure are essential to a successful recovery. A Seabrook treatment program is the first courageous step. Based on outcome study research, plus 44 years of experience, the Seabrook approach has shown to be effective as a first-year recovery plan.
The Seabrook Approach to Recovery
1. Detoxification (Withdrawal Management) Alcohol and drugs wreak havoc on the body. Physical cleansing is vital. Once physical healing begins, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing can happen.
2. Inpatient Residential Rehabilitation provides daily care, expert guidance, and personalized therapy that leads to healthy living and a solid foundation for recovery.
3. Transitional After completion of an Inpatient Treatment program, Seabrook offers longer term programs to guide patients during early recovery back into independent living.
4. Maintenance Ongoing recovery programs include education and support, along with individual, group, or family counseling at least once per week for 35 weeks.

Sometimes, people need more time to get to the heart of their recovery.
Extended Care Treatment can be extremely effective for licensed professionals, executives, and people struggling through multiple relapses and multiple treatments. It is also recommended for treating opiate addictions and co-occurring disorders.
Extended Care helps to diminish the potential for relapse.
Every resident receives daily support from a dedicated treatment team. Seabrook’s medical team oversees all treatment programs and is board-certified in addiction medicine, addiction psychiatry, family practice, and other specialties.

Our Family Department offers a wide range of services to families struggling with addiction. The Family Matrix Program is a three-day family experience that allows families to begin to heal and restore the bonds strained and broken by addiction.
Many Seabrook Alumni remain involved. Seabrook Alumni Services provides ongoing support through follow-up phone call programs, Alumni events, and a large social media community. The Alumni Contact Program also connects newly discharged patients, by region, with recovering Seabrook Alumni to help the transition to real life recovery.
The non-profit Seabrook Foundation provides resources for patients, families, and communities in need. These resources include treatment scholarships, education/prevention projects, support materials and programs, and financial aid. Hundreds of patients and thousands of families have been helped so far. Donate to help us do more.
