    *. Torsional Rigidity.t is the ratio of the tor&ue applied a!out the central axis of the "arn at one end of the "arn to the

    resulting torsional angle, $hen the other end is held fixed On other hand, it is the resistance of the textile fi!er or "arn against t$isting 'he torsional rigidit" of the cotton fi!ers are %er" much

    depends on their fi!er fineness .t is %er" sensiti%e to the -elati%e humidit"

    'his is the prime propert" $hich affects the hairiness of "arn 'he fi!ers $ith higher 'orsional

    rigidit" ha%e higher "arn hairiness and %ice %ersa

    +. Fiber length'he "arn hairiness reduces $ith increase in fi!er length 'he reason is the reduction in num!er of 

    fi!er ends protruding from the "arn surface resulting in less hairiness (hile using longer fi!ers,the fi!ers tend to o%erlap on the "arn surface in a !etter manner and hence impro%e the

    compactness of "arn $hich results less hairiness

    ). Fiber fineness'he "arn hairiness is less for finer fi!er and higher for coarser fi!er 'he torsional rigidit" is the

    most essential propert" of the fi!ers contri!utes to the formation of hairiness 1enerall" the finer fi!er $ill ha%e less torsional rigidit" and hence the hairiness $ill !e less 'he coarser fi!er has

    higher torsional rigidit" and higher hairiness in "arn (hen the "arn deli%ering to the front roller 

    nip and $hile t$ist insertion, the higher centrifugal force acting upon the coarser fi!er leads to

    higher hairiness

    and %ice %ersa 'he increase in num!er of protruding ends in "arn surface due to shorter fi!er 

    length leads to increase the "arn hairiness

    -. niformity RatioAs the increase in +niformit" ratio impro%es the mean fi!er length and hence this propert"ha%ing a negati%e correlation $ith "arn *airiness

    /. Fiber cross section 0 ShapeComparing the circular and non9circular cross sectional fi!ers, the "arn hairiness is less $ith the

    "arn spun $ith circular cross sectional fi!ers 'he compactness of fi!ers $hile using circular 

    cross section fi!ers is !etter than that of other and hence the hairiness is less $ith circular crosssection fi!ers

    3ut the impact of t$ist on hairiness in non9 circular cross section fi!ers is !etter than circular 

    cross section fi!ers *igher the t$ist $ill reduce the *airiness to more extent in non9 circular cross sectional fi!ers
