Principal’s Update
Relieving HSLO I would like to welcome Mrs Hayley Hall to Edward Public School. Mrs Hall is the relieving Home School Liaison Officer and is replacing Ms Sarah Campbell who is on leave for the rest of the year.
Evacuation Drill The staff and students participated in a practice emergency evacuation drill today. The students did a wonderful job and followed all directions given quickly and efficiently. It all went smoothly and our new emergency system is working well.
PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) Last week students focused on the value of Respect. This week we are focusing on Safety and next week we will be learning about our value of Responsibility. The students earned extra play time and had this as a whole school reward yesterday. All student and staff enjoyed this extra time in the sunshine. Classes have put forward lots of ideas for whole school rewards. Mr Bodey will be sending out a survey in Google forms so that students can vote on their preferred rewards.
Next term the students will be participating in explicit PBL lessons and focusing on different areas of the school and learning about respect, safety and responsibility in all of these areas.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic KDB enjoyed a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on the 4th of September. The students and their Teddies had a great time.
Footy Colours Day This will be held on the last day of Term 3, Friday 25th September. This is a Yr 6 fundraiser and students are asked to donate a gold coin. Yr 6 students will be running tabloid footy activities. Students and staff will be wearing the colours of their favourite team. Theme songs will be playing on the P A system but no karaoke is allowed and there will be no face painting as DoE Covid guidelines prevent this from happening. Unfortunately, parents and carers cannot be part of this fun day due to Covid restrictions.
KDB Geography / Science Excursion KDB participated in an excursion to the Rocket Park as part of their Geography and Science unit on the 10th of September. The students really enjoyed learning about the different aspects of Geography and Science they had done in class.
Security Reporting I would like to ask all Edward School Community members to be vigilant around security at our school. If you see any inappropriate behaviour happening in the school grounds please call the police or alternatively you can call the School Security unit on 1300 880 021 and report any suspicious behaviour. This is anonymous and you will not have to give your name to School Security.
School Holidays Last day of school is Friday 25th September and students and staff return on Monday,12th October. I would like to wish everyone a restful holiday break.
