It is also the largest research centre in 3D printing, in terms of the range and quantity of facilities in Hong Kong. Developed by PolyU with 3D printing technology, in collaboration with Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) Simulation System is used for training medical staff involved in high risk interventional cardiac procedures. It is the first TAVI simulation training model in Hong Kong to enable clinical staff to have hands-on experience in TAVI intervention procedure without exposure to X-ray. There will be a demonstration by QEH medical staff after the launching ceremony, and PolyU’s state-of-the-art 3D printing facilities and their roles in promoting innovation and knowledge transfer will also be introduced.
