Educational Outreach Programs for 2017-2018 For more information go to http:// sciencehouse.ncsu.edu Technology and Workforce Development The Coastal Carolina MATE ROV Competition will be held at Camp Albemarle in Morehead City on May 19, 2018. We will hold Scout and Navigator class competitions. There will be a series of meetings and workshops to help teams prepare for this event: · Saturday November 4- Coaches Meeting and Orientation · Saturday, December 2- Team Workshop Electrical Systems · Saturday, January 6, Hydraulics and Buoyancy · Saturday, February 3, Cameras and Advanced Electronics · Saturday, March 10, Obstacles, Navigation and Pool Practice We will be holding a KidWind Workshop on Saturday October 28. Teams of 3 are invited to attend. Teams will receive all materials required to build a wind turbine and compete in the KidWind Competition. Invention Literacy with Makey Makey November 30 2017 Teachers learn how to use Makey Makeys to inspire youth to solve problems through invention. Teachers who participate in this training have access to our Makey Makey Loan Kits. Bringing STEM to your 1:1 initiative using Vernier Tuesday December 5, 2017 Teachers will learn how to use the new wireless technologies to bring authentic science that can be used on classroom devices. Teacher who participate have access to our Vernier Loan Program

CITIZENSCIENCEANDENVIRONMENTALPROGRAMS

GLOBE Workshops- CMAST is now an official GLOBE Partner!

The GLOBE Program is a NASA Citizen Science program that utilizes classrooms from across the globe to monitor Earth’s systems.

Teachers who participate in these workshops will participate in a series of E-Learning lessons and then participate in a hands- on practical application workshop. Teachers who complete the training will be certifies them as GLOBE Teachers which will allow them to report their data on the GLOBE website.
