1. Introduction and Executive Summary 1.1. Executive Summary Education Ecosystem is a decentralized ecosystem for learning about technologies and trying them out hands-on using free practical project examples. We are like GitHub on video for developers. Our ecosystem consists of two networks, namely the internal ecosystem and the external ecosystem. The internal ecosystem participants are project creators, viewers, community moderators, project quality moderators and API application developers. The external ecosystem participants are developer-focused companies who use our developer-relations service. Over 1,000,000 people from 194 countries have used our product since we launched our alpha version at the end of 2015, with a focus on software development projects. Our beta product soon followed and more than 13,000 project creators have created over 200,000 pieces of video content. Our platform is free for consumers and monetizes by charging companies for developer-relations-as-a-service (DRaaS) automation. There is no online project-based learning platform that teaches college students and professionals who have passed the beginner stage how to build complete products. Education Ecosystem does not target beginners, but those who have more than basic introductory knowledge of a field. College students and professionals working in the industry use our platform. They live in the US, China, Europe and Brazil and use projects to learn how to build complete products. Our projects are available either as video or livestream. We are building our blockchain smart contract technology on top of Ethereum, using ERC20 tokenization mechanics. We use LEDU smart contracts in our network for rewards. The Education Ecosystem network is a classic model that is highly suitable for blockchain smart contract tokenization. The blockchain decentralizes key product development decisions that are made on both the supply and demand side. Tokenization helps us to build our network faster on both the supply and demand side.

Education Ecosystem Token Utility Model

Supply side:

● Education Ecosystem provides a peer-to-peer project network that connects project creators to viewers around the world.

● We use tokenization as a key approach to solve our chicken-and-egg marketplace problem by incentivizing early project creators with a mix of LEDU tokens and cash.

● Tokenization enables Education Ecosystem to bind project creators because they will have a shared interest in the long-term value appreciation of LEDU tokens.

● We use token buyers, who have subject matter domain expertise, to create projects.

Page 5: Education Ecosystem - Decentralized Project-Based Learning ... · Education Ecosystem team has gathered a group of advisors that they have been working ... This will help to grow

4

Demand side:

● Tokenization empowers viewers as token holders to vote on topics like which categories and product features to add next. This transforms Education Ecosystem from a supply-side-driven marketplace to a demand one.

● Tokenization enables Education Ecosystem to reward site supporters, moderators and API developers for their activities on the platform by using LEDU tokens, without the need to spend large sums of fiat upfront, thus reducing business risk.

LEDU token holders benefit from: ● The ability to use LEDU tokens for voting on key decisions in the network. ● Growth of the network by the addition of new developer-focused tech products. ● Growth of the network by the addition of Chinese, Russian and Portuguese

projects. ● Demand generation through companies paying for DRaaS, i.e. B2B sales.

Education Ecosystem does NOT compete directly with existing professional development platforms, as it is focused on practical projects (project-based learning) and users who have passed the beginner stage (post-beginners & intermediates). Compared to the indirect competitors Lynda, Pluralsight and Udemy:

● Education Ecosystem does not have expensive content production costs (< $500 per project).

● Project completion speed on Education Ecosystem is faster (< 1 month). ● Education Ecosystem uses only project-based learning. ● Our learning model focuses on practical projects and real production level work. ● Viewers watch how to build a complete product. ● Education Ecosystem is a peer-to-peer network (decentralized) which gives it

access to a bigger project creator pool.

The Education Ecosystem team has also gathered a group of advisors including CoinAgenda Founder Michael Terpin, Starbase founder Tomoaki Sato, serial entrepreneur Oli Slipper, co-founder of Perform Group and Masomo; Founder and CIO of Coinhills, Francisco Jo; Angel Investor & Chinese Crypto Expert, Chandler Guo; and Founder & COO of KR Token Isaac Lee.

1.3. Problem and Product Solution Many students and professionals dream of building real products. However, not many achieve this goal because they lack the real skills needed to build a product from the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, game development, data science, cryptocurrencies and programming. It is easy for anyone to take introductory courses on a topic online and say they completed it. Platforms like Udemy and Lynda do not teach developers how to build real products from beginning to end and many give up after learning the basic curriculum due to the lack of real life applications for their learning. Beginners can easily find basic introductory courses on Udemy, Pluralsight or Lynda. Those courses are basic and do not necessarily teach them the practical skills needed for their careers. Where people get stuck and give up is after they have finished the beginner level courses and want to build real products. With the continued emergence of new technologies today, companies are constantly searching for new developers to satisfy the growing talent gap. However, it can be difficult for these companies to get enough exposure for their new products to fulfill that gap. Developers especially are difficult for many companies to attract with conventional recruitment and marketing tactics. To increase exposure of their technical products, companies need to incorporate developer relations in order to attract the right talent. These are the exact problems Education Ecosystem solves. Focused on viewers who already have basic knowledge on a topic, Education Ecosystem uses practical projects to teach them how to build real products from scratch. We also give viewers access to our project files for them to practice with. We offer developer-focused companies developer-relations-as-a-service (DRaaS) automation. We create content for these companies on our platform and share it with relevant audiences. With Education Ecosystem viewers are able to:

● Watch and learn how to build a complete product. ● Watch sessions live or as archived video. ● Clone projects and interact with them locally via the Education Ecosystem Git or

download videos and project files to practice with.

● Be in a supportive peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing community. ● Improve their skills and make more money in their careers.

1.4. Market and Competition Analysis As of 2018, there were 23 million developers globally. This number is expected to reach 27.7 million by 2023 as the demand for software developers continues to rise.3 Demand for developers is high as well as for developer-focused products. GitHub was acquired by Microsoft for $7.5B and GitLab has a current valuation of around $1.1B.4 These valuations validate the size of the DevOps market and the potential opportunity available for developer-focused products. The DevOps market is expected to be worth $12.85B by 2025 with a compound annual growth rate of 18.6%.5 DevOps tools help to reduce inefficiencies found in the software development lifecycle by improving collaboration between developers, operations, quality assurance and all teams associated with software delivery. These tools also help to increase productivity and streamline workflows, thus allowing teams to deliver better quality software faster. Tech companies are willing to spend more money to attract developers, train them on how to use their products and ultimately grow their ecosystem. Education Ecosystem recognized this and focused our monetization model on developer-focused companies seeking new talent and exposure for their products. More people worldwide are using learning platforms to improve their skills and meet the practical requirements for new jobs, as well as to satisfy their own curiosities. Trends emerging in the industry include live streaming learning, peer-to-peer learning, advanced self-learning, project-based learning, mentorship-based learning, gamified learning and group-based learning. Education Ecosystem does NOT compete directly with existing professional development platforms as we are focused on practical projects (project-

based learning) and provide free content to our viewers, instead charging companies for developer-relations-as-a-service (DRaaS) automation. Education Ecosystem focuses on intermediates, while other existing professional development sites are focused primarily on beginners. We help viewers to improve their existing skills and become much better at what they already do. Platforms like Coursera, Udemy and Udacity are great for beginners to learn theory and introductory topics. Education Ecosystem does not provide this, but emphasizes teaching people, who are above the level of these sites, how to build a complete product, e.g a VR Game, an AI Bot, a Bitcoin auto-trader. You could think of Coursera, Udemy and Udacity as kindergarten and Education Ecosystem as high school. Compared to the indirect competitors Lynda, Pluralsight and Udemy:

● Project creation costs are less expensive on Education Ecosystem as we require less than $500 to create a complete project, whereas indirect competitors have high expensive content production costs.

● Project production speed on Education Ecosystem is faster (< 1 month). ● Education Ecosystem uses only project-based learning. ● Education Ecosystem provides practical projects and real production level work

where developers can learn how to build a complete product. ● Education Ecosystem is a decentralized peer-to-peer network which gives it

access to a bigger project creator pool. ● Education Ecosystem is flexible and can create projects on new emerging

technologies faster.

2.2. Main Product Features: Live Streams, Videos, Chat, Git Repo Content on Education Ecosystem is organized around projects. Each project consists of a livestream channel, a video channel, a live chat window and a Git repository. Live streams and videos can be watched in HTML5 or flash and are delivered in three quality formats 480p, 720p and 1080p.

2.3. Projects Projects are created with the sole intention of teaching viewers. They are fully narrative, structured, contain well-drafted project descriptions and have project resources which can be downloaded or cloned using the Educatio n Ecosystem Git repository. The creation of projects undergoes a strict content moderation process to ensure the highest quality standard. Creating a project requires the project creator to spend time preparing the content. Project creators selected for projects have vast, real industry experience, with at least four years in their field. They love teaching and sharing their skills to train and educate the next generation to improve their practical career skills. Projects are created as part of DRaaS customer requests. Listed below are examples of projects, from the fields of data science and programming, that expand on how Education Ecosystem teaches viewers how to build real products: Project Title: Python Data Analytics and Visualization

Ryan Schuetz, a developer from Minneapolis, United States with over eight years of experience; covers all facets of building a complete and operational analytical dashboard. Viewers are guided through all the steps and concepts, starting from setting up a new Django project, building an ORM model, business logic, math functions and visualizing data using JS libraries (D3, NVD3, Charts.js). Ultimately, viewers will be able to create their own data analytics and visualization application.

Project Title: How to Create a Dating Web App in Node.js

Igor Kuzmenko, a software engineer from Odessa, Ukraine who resides in Basel, Switzerland; explains, in detail, how viewers can use Node.js, MongoDB, and React.js to quickly build products. He has eight years of experience shipping products and has founded two startups. Throughout this highly educational project, Igor covers all the details of creating a dating website so a viewer can build it from scratch, add their own features, and adapt it to their specifications.

Project Title: Machine Learning Model: Python Sklearn & Kera

Page 14: Education Ecosystem - Decentralized Project-Based Learning ... · Education Ecosystem team has gathered a group of advisors that they have been working ... This will help to grow

13

Andrey Bulezyuk, a data science expert from Nuremberg, Germany with over five years of experience in Python; teaches viewers how to create two simple machine learning applications to solve a classification problem. Though simple, it is one of the most complex problems in the world, since the data they are trying to "predict" is stock market data. Viewers can take a look at two completely different libraries; Sklearn and Keras. Before they dive into the main task, they can see how a "Hello World", in Machine Learning looks. After that, they learn numer.ai and use their pre-defined data sets.

2.5. Education Ecosystem API and Third-party Apps Our API is designed in such a way that any company or developer can integrate it easily into their backend and use it to build their own applications. With our API, developers can do any operation they can do on site via the user-interface, but in an automated way. Any feature available on the site is also available over the API. Authentication and access controls are performed using standard and widely supported OAuth2 protocol. The API is available over HTTPS and follows RESTful conventions. Third-party developers can build their own complete applications on top of the Education Ecosystem API. These can be bots, mobile apps, websites, widgets or plugins. As our users are primarily software developers, giving them API access provides a way to empower end-users to build products on top of the Education Ecosystem platform.

3. LEDU Token Model 3.1. Decentralization of Learning and Professional Development Decentralization of learning is an educational shift from conventional learning to an approach where knowledge is gained from project-based learning, peer-to-peer learning, practical learning or learning-by-doing. In contrast to traditional teacher to student learning, decentralized learning is multidimensional.6 Due to the shift in learning from formal institutional training at universities to informal career oriented learning, students and professionals are seeking practical modes of learning. According to a 2016 report by Online Learning Consortium, more than 5.8 million people have been signing up for online education each year for the last decade.7 In a study by Class Central, it is stated that the

18

number of students worldwide who have signed up for at least one course is 58 million.8 Another facet of decentralized learning can be attributed to high college tuition costs. In a news report by The Washington Post, increasing college fees have driven students to seek alternative degrees. Students and professionals are instead opting towards more concise and skill-oriented training like online courses and bootcamps.9 For nascent high in-demand professions in the fields of software development, game development, artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies, informal learning is the only way for students to acquire the necessary skills. A research paper by John W. Thomas, explains peer-to-peer learning as a way in which students, through mutual feedback, learn from one another to abandon misconceptions and search for better solutions10. A learning network like Education Ecosystem is focused on project-based peer-to-peer learning and enables users from all over the world to exchange ideas and learn from each other. Project-based learning is a mode of informal education, where you learn either by directly participating or by watching a real-time project. In a research paper by Julie Mills and David F. Treagust, it was found that projects linked to programming and design, require a lot of people working in unison. For any learner, there is a very comprehensive and practical source of knowledge if they can learn from real-time projects.11 Decentralized learning is probably best manifested by the process of learning by doing. A research report by Anzai, Yuichiro and Simon H.A, asserts that the ‘Learning by doing’ approach

makes viewers acquainted with real tasks and not just some theoretical models.12 3.2. Use-Cases for LEDU Smart Tokens Education Ecosystem uses the proof-of-work concept for issuing tokens on our platform. Each positive activity a viewer, project creator, site moderator or ecosystem participant completes is rewarded with LEDU tokens. LEDU tokens are fully integrated into Education Ecosystem as a way to reward project creators, positive viewer behavior, site moderators and API developers. The Education Ecosystem Token Utility Model chart below, shows how LEDU tokens are used on our platform. All new and existing Education

Ecosystem users are assigned a LEDU token wallet. Each user receives a small token amount as a starting balance. For each new user that creates an account on site, a wallet is automatically generated to store their tokens. The wallet is also used for incoming and outgoing user token transactions.

3.2.1. Paying Project Creators As shown in the Education Ecosystem Token Utility Model, project creators are rewarded LEDU tokens as partial compensation for their work. Each month a fixed percentage of two point eight percent (1/36 months = 2.8%) of the original total project creator tokens is distributed. The amount of LEDU tokens allocated monthly to each project creator is calculated based on their proportional view-time. Proportional view time of a project creator is their total view time divided by the total Education Ecosystem view time.

Page 21: Education Ecosystem - Decentralized Project-Based Learning ... · Education Ecosystem team has gathered a group of advisors that they have been working ... This will help to grow

20

Education Ecosystem Token Utility Model Total Education Ecosystem view time is the sum of the view time of all live streams and videos on Education Ecosystem for a given month. Total project creator view time is the sum of the view time on all of their live streams and videos for a given month. The number of tokens to be allocated is simply calculated by multiplying the proportional view time by the total number of fixed monthly tokens.

TPC = total number of tokens allocated to a project creator monthly

3.2.2. LEDU Token Utility Activities for Viewers Viewers on Education Ecosystem are rewarded for each positive learning activity they complete:

● watching live streams, ● watching project video playlists, ● total monthly view time, ● submitting project suggestions, ● inviting friends and ● following projects.

For each activity a viewer completes successfully, a tiny token fraction is allocated. The total number of tokens allocated to a viewer at month’s end is the sum of all tokens the

viewer has earned:

TTS = total tokens allocated to viewer

TS = sum of tokens for each desired viewer activity completed

3.2.3. LEDU Token Rewards for Quality Assurance and Site Moderation Quality assurance encompasses reporting bugs, technical streaming issues, video quality issues and content moderation. Education Ecosystem users who are chosen as moderators are allocated tokens for each quality assurance activity they complete. Quality assurance is important as it improves user experience for all viewers and project creators. Site moderators represent an integral part of the Education Ecosystem community and without them the site cannot run. Rewarding site moderators with LEDU tokens for their time motivates them to carry out site moderation weekly.

TTMQ = total tokens for site moderation or quality assurance

TMQ = sum of tokens for each moderation or quality assurance activity completed 3.2.4. LEDU Token Rewards for Education Ecosystem API Developers Building apps on top of our API provides another way for ecosystem members to earn LEDU. LEDU tokens are allocated to developers for each application developed on top of the Education Ecosystem API that is deployed and used by at least 1000 end users. The

best apps and bots are endorsed by Education Ecosystem and shared to all users. The amount of tokens for each app developed is the sum of the base amount plus additional tokens depending on popularity, quality of app, and availability of source code for others:

TAD = total tokens per app developed

BTA = base token amount TAAPI = sum of tokens for each API development activity completed.

4. Roadmap and Future Potential Developments 4.1. Roadmap The roadmap outlines the planned milestones for Education Ecosystem in the coming months. The purchase of LEDU tokens does not represent a right of equity ownership of the company itself. There are typically a variety of risk factors associated with purchasing cryptocurrency tokens. We cannot predict the future and do not gaurantee anything. Cryptocurrencies and the whole blockchain market are nascent industries. The value of LEDU tokens is not dependent on Education Ecosystem team members directly but on the viewers, creators, third party partners and also to a significant extent on the development of the broader Ethereum and Bitcoin ecosystems. The price of LEDU like any other cryptocurrency is very volatile, out of our control and can drop to zero at any time based on market turbulence and we do not guarantee any price. The price of LEDU will significantly correlate with the price of Ethereum as Education Ecosystem is an ERC20 project. Education Ecosystem does not guarantee any profits or that there will be a successful exit via an IPO or trade sale. Education Ecosystem’s

legal entity Livecoding Ltd is registered in London with the company registration number 09346459.

4.2. Future Potential Development While we cannot predict the future, there are some ideas we have in mind, including: ● Localized content for the Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, German,

Portuguese and Arabic markets. ● Content catalogue expansion to include more topics like YouTube successfully

accomplished. ● Education Ecosystem billboard screens in big metropolitan cities around the world

(San Francisco, New York, Toronto etc.) where people can watch projects live.
