website, social media, citizen science, museums, general internet presence (youtube,…)

Both for Education and Public Outreach activities

Euclid Why should we care about EPO?
If NASA is able to inspire, so should we
Because it’s their taxes that paid for it all
Where will the next generation of scientists come from?
Inspire the next/current generation of science funders.
Remember – it was the general public who saved Hubble, because their communication was so great. NASA cancelled their budget cuts months after announcing it.
Euclid is extremely well suited for outreach

Conclusion from ASTRONET 2009 report:
“Lack of communication culture in Europe”
“There is a lack of professionalism and effectiveness in Europe as compared to the US”
Recommendations:
“Few % of mission budget dedicated to EPO”
“Communication departments must be placed at the highest levels of the mission hierarchies”
“15% Budget for assessment of EPO activities”
“Use professional communicators”
“Ensure career-relevant recognition for scientists involved in communication”
