MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Alumni,2017 has already brought with it many exciting achievements and developments for your alma mater. But it is also tinged with sadness. In May, the NTU community mourned the passing of Professor Lee Sing Kong, NTU Vice President (Alumni and Advancement), whose dedication to education, research and alumni relations left an indelible mark on many among us. He will be deeply missed, but I have no doubt that his legacy will continue to inspire us.
The efforts of Prof Lee as well as those of our faculty, staff, students and alumni have helped NTU to fly the Singapore flag up high. In the latest QS World University Rankings, NTU is ranked No. 11 in the world. This is NTU’s highest position in this influential league table of top universities and the highest position ever attained by any university in Singapore and Asia in the QS world ranking. I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your tireless dedication.
Always a hive of activity, NTU’s campus is about to get even livelier: with new residence halls in Nanyang Crescent slated to open in August 2017, some 16,000 undergraduates in total will soon live on campus, and experience fully our NTU culture.
In April 2017, we unveiled The Wave, a mega sports hall built using an innovative timber construction technology. In January 2017, classes began at the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine’s new Clinical Sciences Building, located at the heart of Singapore’s Novena medical hub.
NTU’s excellent research capabilities have allowed us to establish strong partnerships with industry and academia. This year, we are working with Swedish air filtration industry leader Camfil on technologies to improve indoor air quality, and partnering with the Schaeffler Group, a leading German automotive and industrial components supplier, to develop next-generation personal mobility devices. With our academic partners at RIKEN, we are establishing joint research institutes in Singapore and Japan to explore new methods of detecting and treating diseases.
The mission of the Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) is to engage all NTU alumni in lifelong and mutually beneficial
relationships with the alma mater. We have developed and adopted the Three Dimensional Engagement Model, i.e., alma mater to alumni, alumni to alma mater, and alumni to alumni to guide our alumni engagement practices.
As a testimony to our efforts at engaging our 213,000 alumni around the world, NTU has for the first time been selected as one of the two Asia-Pacific regional finalists for the 2017 CASE Circle of Excellence Award - Platinum Categories: Best Practices in Alumni Relations for our alumni engagement in China. We are proud to represent the Asia-Pacific region in the international round of the competition.

你们好！2017年上半年,母校又有许多令人欣喜的成就与发展。然而，我也十分悲痛地告知大家，南大副校长（校友与发展事务）李盛光教授瞌然辞世。李教授是位备受尊敬的教育家，他对教育，研究和校友事务的卓著贡献，为新加坡留下了不可磨灭的贡献。我们将会永远怀念他，我相信他留下的宝贵精神遗产，会永远激励着我们前进。
李教授和所有教职员工、学生和全体校友们的努力不懈，使南大在国际舞台上高举新加坡国旗。在QS评估机构最新公布的世界大学排名中，南大被评为全球第11名，这是南大在这个极具影响力的世界顶尖大学排行版上有史以来最高的排名，也是排行榜上历来表现最佳的本地及亚洲的大学。在此，我衷心感谢大家的无私贡献。
我们的校园一直人气旺盛，在不久的将来将会变得更加活跃。南洋新月道的新学生宿舍楼预定于今年8月开放。届时，超过1万6000名学生将住宿在校园，亲身感受丰富多彩的多元南大文化。
今年4月，我们采用可持续性技术所建造的最新大型绿色环保体育馆 ——“波浪”隆重开幕。另外，位于新加坡诺维娜医疗城中心地带的南大李光前医学院临床医学大楼也于1月份正式启用。
南大卓越的科研能力使我们与业界建立了紧密的合作关系。今年，我们的研究人员们与瑞典空气净化领导者Camfil公司合作，研究能改善室内空气品质的新技术；我们也与德国汽车和工业部件首屈一指的供应商舍弗勒集团进行合作，研发新一代的个人代步智能装置。同时，我们与合作伙伴日本的理化学研究所，将在新加坡和日本建立联合研究所，以探索疾病检测和治疗的新方案。
南大校友事务处的使命，是推动全体校友与母校保持终身互惠的互动关系。因此我们发展了

南大 最 新 标 志 性 绿 色建筑——“波浪”(The Wave)在2017年4月
24日正式启用。这栋设计新颖的体育馆以其高达72米的波浪形屋顶，和所采用的创新木材建筑技术令人刮目相看。
因形得名的“波浪”是东南亚首例使用“层压胶合实木“技术的大型建筑物。这种新式建材不仅隔热性能比传统建材高出五倍以上，还能支撑起72米高的波浪形屋顶，且无需内部支柱，为体育馆创造出三层楼高的巨大空间，足可容纳3个标准篮球场。
“波浪”集前沿科技于一身，安装了980个机械化可伸缩座椅及LED节能照明设备和太阳能发电系统。此外，体育馆还使用了特殊的通风系统，使进入大厅的热空气能迅速降温，无需安装普通空调系统，也能凉爽舒适。
新加坡国家发展部长兼财政部第二部长黄循财先生出席了体育馆开幕仪式并担任主宾，表扬南大在环境可持续性发展方
面的成就与贡献，黄部长在致辞中说，“ ‘The Wave’代表了新加坡在提高建筑业生产力方面的一个新的里程碑。南大在环境可持续性发展上的努力，以及在采用新型建筑材料和建筑方法的开拓上，显示出我们可以使环保和建筑领域齐头并进、共同发展。”
新型设计 凉意习习 “波浪”在设计建造时使用计算机 模 拟 太 阳 光 照 和 风 向，将 场馆内的平均风速控制为每秒0.4米，充分利用自然风对流效应以助室内降温。
场馆为双层外墙设计，两面墙中间的隔热“空气袋”能有效隔绝热空气。另外，墙壁还装有能注入冷水的金属管以协助整个建筑降温，同时通过对流有效排出热空气。
这些新型建筑设计使得场馆内不再需要电扇和空调也依旧能保持凉爽，预计可节省超过40%的用电量。

B uilt using green construction technology, NTU’s much-lauded sports hall was officially opened
on 24 April 2017. Aptly named The Wave for its
72-metre wave-like roof, NTU’s latest architectural icon is the first large-scale building in Southeast Asia to be built using mass-engineered timber, made using a new timber construction technology.
It gets even cooler: The Wave has a unique cooling system that chills the air as it enters the hall, so that conventional air-conditioning systems are not needed.
A unique feature of the walls is the presence of metal coils with chilled water flowing through them. The coils cool the wind as it enters the hall, while warm air escapes via convection.
Together, these features are estimated to reduce energy use by more than 40 percent, as fans and air-conditioners are no longer necessary to keep sweat at bay.

Prof Andersson and NTU Chief of Staff and Vice-President (Research) Professor Lam Khin Yong then presented outstanding faculty, staff and students with the Nanyang Awards.

universities, making it the highest-ranked university in Singapore as well as in Asia.
This is NTU’s best performance in this influential university ranking, as well as the highest position ever attained by any university in Singapore and Asia.
“This is fantastic news and a strong recognition of our progress,” said NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson.
On the secrets of NTU’s meteoric rise, Prof Andersson said, “There are three success factors: people, people, people. NTU has attracted the best talents—top faculty, promising, upcoming investigators and the brightest students.”

从今年8月起，南大将为学生提供超过14,000个校内住宿名额，并将
确保 所有新生在入学首两年能在校内住宿（以往新生只能在校内住宿一年）。南大校长安博迪教授在2017年3月16日发表的

2016年9月，南大开放了三个新宿舍楼，新增2100个住校名额。今年8月，另外三个位于南洋新月弯的宿舍楼也将启用，再添1820个住校名额。届时，南大学生宿舍楼将达到24座，为1万4200名学生提供住宿，满足当前总需求的90%。
里程碑式的体验 住校不仅仅意味着下课后有个方便休息的地方。学生宿舍楼定期举办社交、体育及休闲活动，学生通过参加各种宿舍活动，可以培养团队精神，建立同窗友谊，发展领导才能。
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
新 建 的 三 个 宿 舍 楼 由 一 个走廊连接贯通，其中设有烤肉区和学习广场，还有绿意盎然的屋顶花园。此外，宿舍楼也为学生设置了露天休息室、讨论室、阅览室和多功能厅等设施，方便学生的学习和生活。
1 9 岁 的 商 学 院 大 一 新 生Tan Li Yun表示，“住校生活是一个里程碑式的体验。对我们许多人来说，住校是第一次离家生活，也是第一次独立打理生活的体验。”
在绿色校园的道路上 再接再厉 南大以绿意盎然的校园环境和环保建筑闻名。立志成为全球顶尖的绿色生态校园，校方力争在2020年达到节省 35%的电力和水源消耗。为了实现此一目标，南大在设计和建设新的校园建筑 时，以 可 持 续 发 展 为 核 心 理念，采用了太阳能热水器和能够在无人使用时自动关闭能源的感应系统。
“ 南 大 葱 绿 的 校 园 已 成 为世 界 前 1 5 名 最 美 丽 的 校 园 之一 。我 们 会 继 续 将 绿 色 校 园 的理 念 付 诸 行 动 ，再 接 再 厉 。” 安博迪教授说。

新宿舍，迎新生
C ome August, more than 14,000 students will have a place to call home on NTU’s campus.
Incoming freshmen will be guaranteed a residential place on campus for their first two years, up from the current one year, announced NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson at his annual State of the University address on 16 March 2017.
“A residential experience is part of the holistic education we offer,” he said. “Demand has always been high and we have been doing a lot of construction in the last few years to meet it. Talk to any NTU graduate, and they will tell you that living on campus is something not to be missed.”
In September 2016, NTU opened three new halls, adding 2,100 on-campus housing places. This August, three more halls will open at Nanyang Crescent, catering to another 1,820 students. By then, NTU’s total of 24 residence halls—housing some 14,200 undergraduates—will fulfil over 90 percent of current demand.
Tan Li Yun, 19, a first-year business student, said, “Living on campus is a milestone experience. For many of us, this is our first time staying away from home and our first taste of becoming independent adults.”

位于 新 加 坡 医 疗 重 点 区域 诺 维 娜 的 南 洋 理 工大 学 李 光 前 医 学 院 临
床科学大楼正式完工。该大楼共有20层，设有最前沿的智能教室、新颖的医疗教学设备以及高科技研究实验室。
“ 临 床 科 学 大 楼 象 征 我 们立志在研究学习和临床实践之间 架 起 一 座 桥 梁 的 宏 愿 。”李光前医学院院长詹姆斯·贝斯特
（James Best）教授说。
将诊间融入教室 临床医学大楼已于2017年1月开始投入使用。位于南大主校区的李光前医学院实验医学大楼于2013年成立，第一批学生为54人。如今，两座校区合计已累积招收了328名学生。
临床医学大楼内的模拟中心占有两层楼空间，设有根据实际临床环境设计的各种学习辅助设备。中心内的模拟病房可依照教学需求变换成加护病房或急救病房，模拟各种医疗实际情况。
学生可以在实践技能实验室练习抽血、缝合技术及处理大出血等紧急情况，或是在会诊室与模拟病患交流，听取反馈，磨练与病患沟通的技巧。
此外，大楼内的解剖学习中心能协助学生掌握复杂的人体结构。学生们可以在解剖桌上进行虚拟解剖，实际人体大小的3D人体解剖虚拟影像将提供前所未有的仿真学习体验。
引领医学教育迈入 二十一世纪 南大高级副教务长（教育）甘灿兴教授说：“要培养明日的专业人才和未来领袖，我们必须提出实际的学习场地，以支持着重团队学习和鼓励主动解决问题的新教学方法。”
MEDICINE MEETS MODERNITY
为了贯彻新的学习理念，李光前医学院采用了新颖的翻转教室概念，在临床医学大楼中设置了智能教室、实验室和能容纳250名学生的多屏幕环绕讲堂等各项设施。
在解剖学习中心里，学生可以分组在隔间中进行X光检验、核磁共振成像和超声波扫描，先进的影音系统能将图像即时呈现在数个80英寸大的LED屏幕上。

科研与临床的新桥梁
Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine).
Classes at CSB began in January 2017. Together, CSB and the Experimental Medicine Building on the University’s main campus form LKCMedicine. LKCMedicine opened in 2013 with an inaugural intake of 54, and currently has 328 students.
The Centre for Clinical Simulation, which spans two floors of the building, houses a number of learning facilities based on clinical environments.
The Simulated Ward, for example, can be configured into various hospital settings such as an intensive care unit or emergency room, allowing students to practise everyday scenarios.
In addition, CSB’s Anatomy Learning Centre supports the learning of the human body’s intricate structures. Students can conduct virtual dissections on the Anatomage Table, a virtual operating table which offers unprecedentedly realistic 3D, life-sized visualisations of human anatomy.

南大将推出 “设计艺术” 及 “媒体艺术” 两门学士学位课程，帮助学生在日新月异的创意及数码产业中立于不败之地。
艺术、设计与媒体学院新设立的这两门四年制学士学位课程为学生在主修课之外提供了更广阔的课程选择。
“艺术设计学士学位课程”把目前的三门课程，即互动媒体、产品设计和视觉传达，融合为一个综合设计课程。“媒体艺术学士学位课程”则把现有的数码动画、数码电影制作、摄影与数码成像三门专业课程整合为一门综合媒体课程。
每位学生也都必需参加为期10个星期的实习，学生将有机会在顶尖公司、艺术工作室或制作公司获得宝贵的业内经验。此外，学生也有机会前往英国皇家艺术学院等海外合作大学进行交流学习。
“艺术、设计和媒体产业一直在扩展新的领域。一方面是由于科技的不断进步，另一方面也是社会环境日益多元的结果”,南大文学院院长陈金梁教授说，“南大开设的新课程着重强调这些变化，为学生提供更加全面的学习， 为未来做好准备。”
NTU will launch two Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programmes in Design Art and Media Art in August, aimed at helping graduates compete in the ever-
changing and expanding creative and digital industries. The new four-year offerings from the School of Art,
Design and Media allow students more flexibility to choose from a broad range of courses within and outside their majors.
Students will gain practical experience with a compulsory ten-week internship at top companies, studios and production houses. They will also be able to study abroad at partner universities such as the Royal College of Art in the UK.

海事研究四年级本科生肖翔瑜曾至俄罗斯旅游，对俄罗斯语颇有兴趣。“我发现俄罗斯语课程生动有趣。我最喜欢的词汇是‘babushka’，意思是祖母。”肖翔瑜说，“祖母在俄罗斯家庭中扮演相当重要的角色。她看起来严厉，却慈爱地照顾每位家人。”
南大还在2015年推出手语课程，每学期都会吸引百余名学生报名，其中一位就读心理学系二年级的学生Goh Jing Tian。她是南大社会福利志愿服务俱乐部的一员，辅导失聪或有听力障碍的儿童。“学习手语非常有趣，我感到自己更有动力为失聪儿童服务”，Goh Jing Tian说，“我打算专攻特殊教育，学习手语课程能使我更加胜任特殊教育的工作。”
除了常规的课堂教学外，语言课程的老师们还为学生组织了丰富多彩的文化活动，例如每月举办的俄罗斯电影活动，学生们一边欣赏俄罗斯电影，一边有机会品尝肉饼、沙拉和煎饼等俄罗斯食物。
NTU has added Russian to its language offerings, after a survey of 500 students found it to be most in demand. This brings the number of Asian and European languages
offered at NTU to 14. In 2015, NTU also introduced courses in Singapore Sign
Language, which now attract some 100 students each semester. Besides formal classroom lectures, language tutors have
also organised various cultural activities—for example, at monthly Russian Movie Club sessions, students can enjoy Russian films and treats such as meat pies, salad and pancakes.

两年 前 的 尼 泊 尔 大 地 震迫使尤思丽娜·雅格布女士放弃登顶珠峰。今
年，她再次出发，一圆登上世界最高峰的梦想。
来自南大–国立教育学院珠穆朗玛峰登山队的尤思丽娜女士于2017年5月22日新加坡时间11时55分成功登上海拔8,848米的世界最高峰——珠穆朗玛峰。
尤思丽娜女士是一位实习教师，在南大属下的国立教育学院修读体育硕士课程。登山队的另外两名队员是国立教育学院教师萨拉瓦纳（Arjunan Saravana Pillai）博士和国立教育学院体育科学与管理专业2016年毕业生董志豪先生。
集体努力 克服困难 登山队在2017年3月26日抵达尼泊尔首都加德满都，并在珠峰南大本营停留了两个月。停留期
间，为了作好生理和精神准备，适应高海拔缺氧状况以及极端恶劣多变的天气情况和危险地形，队员们进行了适应性攀登训练，登上了海拔6,119米的罗布崎峰。
实际攻顶那天，萨拉瓦纳因病无法参加，留在营地。在抵达海拔8480米、距离珠峰峰顶只有360米时，董志豪因呼吸困难而被迫返回。
“ 尤 思 丽 娜 登 上 世 界 最 高峰是件了不起的壮举。我们为她今天所取得的成功感到骄傲，” 南大校董会董事、托克集团亚太地区执行长，同时也是登山队赞助人的陈竟辉先生说，“这是整个团队共同奋斗的成果，此次登顶成功，萨拉瓦纳博士和董志豪同样功不可没。在整个登山过程中，尽管困难重重、危险四伏，但他们不断互相支持、彼此鼓励。只要有一位队员登上珠峰，整个团队就成功了。
失败为成功之母 南大的这次探险构想始于2016年初，当时尤思丽娜决定重拾自己登上世界最高峰的梦想。她曾是2015年新加坡建国50周年珠峰登山队队长之一，在登上海拔5,500米的高度时，突然发生了可怕的尼泊尔大地震，使她不得不放弃攻顶计划。
时隔两年后，她与萨拉瓦纳博士和董志豪组队，计划再次攀登珠峰。南洋理工大学和国立教育学院为了支持这次探险活动，共为三位登山队员筹得15万新元。为了使身体处于最佳状态，三位登山队员进行了严格的训练，其中包括：负重20公斤攀登40层高楼，徒步武吉知马自然保护区，耐力跑和攀岩。
“ 我 们 都 知 道 珠 峰 的 地 形十分险恶，需要有很大的勇气、纪律和毅力去完成这样的挑战。他们证明，只要奋发努力、用心执行、遵守纪律、保持信念、坚
持到底，梦想终会成真。”陈竟辉先生说，“南大认为，学生应该秉持这些终身受用的价值观，这不仅会让学生受益终生，也对新加坡的未来发展至关重要。”
Exactly two years after an earthquake ended her quest to summit the world’s highest peak, Ms Nur Yusrina Ya’akob has achieved her
dream on her second attempt. Ms Yusrina, who was climbing
as part of the NTU-National Institute of Education (NIE) Everest Team Singapore, reached the summit of the 8,848-metre Mount Everest at approximately 11.55 am Singapore time on 22 May 2017.
Ms Yusrina is a trainee teacher pursuing the Postgraduate Diploma in Physical Education at NIE. The team also comprised Dr Arjunan Saravana Pillai, an NIE teaching fellow, and Mr Jeremy Tong (SSM/2016), a graduate of NTU’s Sports Science and Management programme.

feeling well, stayed at base camp, while Mr Tong was forced to turn back just 360 metres from the peak due to breathing difficulties.
“Reaching the top of the world’s highest mountain is a truly remarkable feat. Yusrina’s success today is an event that we can all be proud of,” said Mr Tan Chin Hwee, NTU Board of Trustees member and a keen supporter of the team.
“But this is a team effort, and credit must also go to Dr Saravana and Jeremy. Throughout the entire expedition, they kept supporting and motivating each other on in spite of the very difficult and challenging conditions. As long as one summits, the entire team succeeds.”
The idea for the NTU expedition began in early 2016, when Ms Yusrina decided to revive her dream of summiting Everest. In 2015, she was co-leader of the SG50 Everest team that was forced to abort its ascent at 5,500 metres after the deadly Nepal earthquake struck.
She teamed up with Dr Saravana and Mr Tong after learning about their plans to climb the mountain.

“ 我 们 的 目 标 是 开 发 出 新颖创新、安全有效的个人化交通解决方案，推动新加坡迈向‘减少用车’社会的愿景”，南大校务总监兼副校长（研究）蓝钦扬教授说。
舍弗勒集团在南大设立的 “ 南大高级研究实验室”(SHARE at NTU)附属于舍弗勒中心，耗资500万新元。该实验室的研究人员将研究新加坡个人移动装置
的用户行为，开发可携式智能技术，提高客户使用的安全性和体验。双方也将在南大校园现有的

南大能源研究所（ERI@N）的研究人员将与Camfil的专家合作，调查室内空气质量对生活在热带气候下的成人所产生的认知能力及健康影响。双方也将在南大校园内的一些建筑物中进行各种空气净化技术的测试，重点了解这些净化技术在热带气候中的成效。

joint research institutes focusing on human biology. A RIKEN-NTU Research Centre for Human Biology will be set up in Singapore, and a corresponding NTU-RIKEN Research Centre will be established in Japan.
Professor Balázs Gulyás of NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and Dr Atsushi Iriki of RIKEN will serve as co-directors of the research centres.

A new joint research lab established between NTU and the Schaeffler Group, a leading German automotive and industrial components supplier, aims to make such next-generation personal mobility devices a reality.
“We aim to develop innovative, safer and more efficient personal transport solutions which will support Singapore’s drive towards a car-lite society,” said NTU Chief of Staff and Vice President (Research) Professor Lam Khin Yong.
Researchers at the S$5 million lab, set up as part of the Schaeffler Hub for Advanced REsearch at NTU (SHARE at NTU), will study the behaviour of personal mobility device users in Singapore, and develop portable smart technologies to enhance safety and last-mile experience.

南洋理工大学副校长（校友与发展事务）李盛光教授于2017年5月19日（星期五）逝世，享年65岁。 李教授是位广受尊敬的教育家，长期从事教育事业，勇于创新，并
全心致力于校友事务。 南大师生员工对李教授的辞世悲哀至极，纷
纷举办各种悼念仪式寄托哀思，缅怀李教授的贡献。李教授是一位智者和导师，激情洋溢的演说家，鼓舞人心而又谦谦有礼的领导。
“李教授激情洋溢，鼓舞人心，对新加坡的教育事业留下了不可磨灭的贡献。他深信教育的重要性，亲历亲为，垂范后世。”南大校长安博迪教授在向李教授的家人致哀时表示。“李教授毕生热衷于教育事业，他对南大和国立教育学院所作出的贡献名闻遐迩，我们将会永远铭记他。”
忠诚的教育家
李教授的专业是园艺学，但他对提升新加坡的师范教育体系所做的贡献功不可没。在李教授担任国立教育学院院长期间（2006年至2014年），他重整教师教育与培训机构，大大提升了新加坡的教育体系，使新加坡在数学、科学和阅读科目的全球排名中名列前茅。
2014年，李教授受委担任南大副校长，负责教育战略。期间，他对南大的课程、教学和评估系统提出了许多创新的举措，他所带领成立的研究与学习发展中心在推动南大高等教育的研究方面发挥了关键的作用。
南大校董会主席许文辉先生说：“盛光是教育界的杰出领袖，广大师生的良师益友，我们大家会永远缅怀他。他对教育和学习充满热忱，人生无悔无憾 。南大从此痛失英豪。”
校友事务的杰出领导
2015年，李教授受命担任南大副校长，主管校友与发展事务，从此他全心全意地投入了校友事务。他提出许多独树一帜的新策略，开创校友事务的新局面，努力地拓展与校友和捐赠者的联系。在他的指导下，校友事务处成立了南大校友理事会和校友理事会执行委员会，作为校友与母校连接的桥梁。李校长独创的“校友关系三维模式”，成为南大校友事务的指导原则。
李教授不仅提出新的策略，更是事必躬亲。 “李教授注重细节，总是倾心聆听校友们的想法和意见，深入了解校友们的需求。”南大校友事务总监郭南先生说。“李教授所留下的宝贵遗训，将继续引导我们努力向前，探索新的方向，迈向新的高峰。”
南大校董会董事兼校友发展委员会主席殷吉星先生在他的悼词中说：“李教授目标专注，坚定不移，他总是循循善诱地与大家分享他的远大目光，用他的个人风范激励我们。我向我们的楷模、导师和挚友痛道永别。我们深切感怀李教授曾经与我们同行，永远把李教授留下的美好记忆深藏心中。”
P rofessor Lee Sing Kong, a widely respected academic known for his dedication to education, passion for innovation and commitment to alumni engagement passed away on 19 May 2017 at the age of 65.
Tributes poured in from a saddened NTU community, who remembered Professor Lee as a wise and firm mentor, a passionate speaker and an inspiring yet humble leader.
“Professor Lee was an inspiring figure who left an indelible mark on Singapore’s teaching and higher education system. He was a dynamic leader who firmly believed in the importance of education,” said NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson.
Professor Lee played an instrumental role in advancing Singapore’s teaching and education system. As Director of the National Institute of Education (NIE) from 2006-2014, he rallied the teaching fraternity to take the nation’s education system to greater heights.
In 2014, Professor Lee was appointed NTU Vice President (Education Strategies). In this role, he led innovations in NTU’s curricula and teaching and assessment methods, and was instrumental in moving NTU into research on higher education learning through the establishment of the Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE).
In 2015, Professor Lee was concurrently appointed NTU Vice President (Alumni and Advancement). He initiated fresh efforts to increase NTU’s outreach to alumni and to strengthen donor engagement. Under his leadership, the NTU Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) formed the NTU Alumni Council and Executive Committee, and adopted the Three-Dimensional Engagement Model created by Professor Lee as the guiding principle for NTU alumni engagement.
“Professor Lee has left a tremendous legacy, which will continue to guide and inspire us to keep working hard, exploring new territories and ascending to new heights,” said NTU Chief Alumni Affairs Officer Mr Guo Sam Nan.

学习 是一种 生活方式 南大的企业课程与继续 教育课程为学生应对未来职场变化作好准备。
在科技发展变化快速的当今时代，学习不再限于拿到毕业文凭的那一天。要想与时俱进，企业家和员
工都必须紧跟行业领域的最新发展，或是扩展业务范围，学习新技能。
为了更好地迎接这些挑战，协助学生、校友和大众为立足未来职场作好准备，南洋理工大学于2001年成立了南洋科技创业中心。该中心以科技为着眼点和依托工具，提供创业学位及培训课程。此外，南大还在2016年成立了职业与继续教育学院，提供成人教育和职业发展课程，协助在职人士在变化万千的科技发展中保持竞争力。
除此以外，南大校友俱乐部也推出新举措，在李永坚校友(南洋商学院/1995年毕业班)的带领下，俱乐部帮助校友中的专业人士、管理人、执行人员和技术人员加强沟通联系，掌握业界知识信息，促进彼此的事业发展。
“我们崇尚校友互助”，李永坚校友说， “俱乐部希望建立起一个能让每位校友都参与的联系网络，使大家在沟通中相互获益。”

南洋科技创业中心的使命是什么？
许丁宦副教授 我们的使命是“通过创业教育，对人类文明带来正向转变”。优秀的创业教育能帮助一个人发展企业家精神，这将是终生的财富。
我们乐见于学生成为成功的企业家，但同时我们也强调创业教育适用于各行各业，无论是政府机关、慈善机构，大型跨国公司，或是中小型企业，一旦具备企业家精神，人们都能在所属机构中有所作为。
什么是企业家精神？ 许教授 企业家是那些能够审时度势，抓住机遇，利用资源，最终创造价值的人。这点既适用于企业家，也适用于机构中的内部创新者。
在我看来，这方面最好的典范就是新加坡建国总理李光耀先生。上世纪六十年代的新加坡如同一个资源匮乏的初创公司，然而在五十二年后的今天，新加坡已经发展成为一个大型联合企业。要实现这样的成就，所需要的不仅仅是有能力的人才，更需要具有卓越企业家精神的志士。极少有政府把国家当成企业来经营，新加坡可说是第一个。
什么是科技创业？ 许教授 科技创业者以科技支撑企业。科技创业者不一定要有工程或科学背景，我们认为，跨学科综合教育是我们课程中最好的一个项目。
科技创业包含高技术产品，但并不尽然如此。还有一种方式是利用科技，把技术当作平台，譬如Uber 和Grab。即便只是经营一家餐厅，若你使用iPad来点餐，你也就是在利用科技来提升运营效率。
南洋科技创业中心的课程有什么特色？ 许教授 我们从不认为我们的课程只是提供一个学位，这是一种目光短浅的想法。相反的，我们将自己的课程视为提供学员一场转型之旅。课程所学的最佳衡量标准是，你在课程结束时，是否感到自己发生了深刻的转变，是否能以企业家精神换个角度看问题？
我们需要的不是最好的教师，而是最优秀的启发者。我从不把自己视为教师。如果我只是传授自己的所知给你，那便是对你最大的不公，因为我所知有限。然而，如果你能从我这里得到启发，那么你所能学到的将无穷无限。
对那些有志创业的校友，您有哪些 建议呢？ 许教授 我会鼓励校友们注意创业中的四个 “P”。
第一个P是purpose, 目标。创业的主要原因绝不仅仅只是为了赚钱。利润固然重要，但是创业应该要有一个更宏大长远的目标。
第 二 ，如 果 已 经 有 了 目 标 ，你 还 需 要 热 情 (Passion)。有了热情，工作就不再只是份工作而已。
第三，除了高涨的热情，你还要有锲而不舍的精神（Perseverance）。人生没有一帆风顺，你必然会遇到艰难和瓶颈。但是，只要你对自己的事业抱持坚定的信念——这源于你的目标——你就能克服困难，急流勇进。
最后，你还必须要有原则(Principle)。许多人会告诉你无商不奸，但我要告诉你，诚信才是最重要的。
我们从不认为我们的 课程只是提供一个学位，这是一种目光短浅的想法。相反的，我们将自己的课程视为提供学员 一场转型之旅。

为什么成人教育十分重要？ 丁承鍵教授 成人教育势在必行，我们需要掌握更多的知识和技能来应对职场中以科技为主的发展变化。我们必须要去接触那些已离开校园的在职人士，教育他们，使他们认识到世界变化对他们的影响，以及协助他们了解如何应对变化。
然而，什么样的课程才适合每个人的需要呢？过去，人们只着眼于教学，但有时课程水平和个人理解之间存在差距，并不适用。
如今，政府的“未来技能计划”让高等教育学院参与进来，使成人教育更加整合，系统化，。每个人都能毫不费力地为自己选择最适合的课程。
我们在职业发展发面会遇到哪些未来挑战？ 丁教授 最大的挑战是科技影响的不确定性。没有人能预测未来趋势，举例来说，我们都不确定何时无人驾驶车辆会普遍上路呢？
面对这种不确定性，我认为，我们应该尽可能掌握所有信息，尽所能地做好准备。过去，事情往往比较容易预测：上大学，毕业，在一个工作岗位上一直工作到退休。现在，如果你在一家公司工作超过五年，不免令人有些讶异。当今世界提供给我们许多选择，我们应该作好心理准备，应对随时发生的变化。
因此，我们应该准备好，一旦需要不同的知识技能，便立刻着手学习。这或许不能让你获得一纸文凭，但是比起一位只在一个领域有所专攻的毕业生，这样却能让你成为对公司更有用的人。说到底，我们必须自问：什么才对公司更有价值？是一张文凭，还是相关的技能和经验？
职业与继续教育学院能如何帮助校友克服这些挑战？ 丁教授 从雇主的角度来看，他们想要雇佣那些拥有对口技能的人。职业与继续教育学院充当了
推动者的角色，帮助人们掌握相关职业技能。在职业与继续教育学院，我们会找出那些职场迫切需要的技能，然后为大众开授相关课程。
譬如，我们知道市场需要电力工程师。这是一个在电机工程中比较专门的领域。如果电机工程师有志专行成为电力工程师，职业与继续教育学院可以为他们提供小单元的学习课程，通过三四个单元学习之后就可以获得专业证书，完成职业转换。这种职业转换可以根据各种市场高需求职业来量身打造，譬如网络安全、数据分析、金融科技、医疗信息系统、和社会服务等。
我们的校友中不乏企业家。鼓励员工前来职业与继续教育学院进修，雇主又能从中获得哪些实惠呢？ 丁教授 对于企业家校友来说，鼓励员工前来职业与继续教育学院进修的好处之一就是，身为校友的他们已经了解南大的教学品质，员工在南大一定会得到优质的培训，这点可以令他们放心。
另一个优势是，我们正在尝试创建一个市场反应反馈圈。通常，我们是从政府机构和熟悉的产业部门得到反馈，了解我们应该开设哪些课程。但是，我们也想和广大雇主校友沟通，从这些校友口中了解他们难以填补的空缺，以及这些职位的技能要求。这些反馈可以让我们更了解市场情况。
您会如何鼓励校友追求终身学习？ 丁教授 享受学习，不要惧怕学习。在终身学习的路上一步一步迈进，惧怕就会减少一点。闭门塞听才是真的令人惧怕。若是到了别无选择的境地才开始学习新技能，在迫于压力的情况下吸收新事物，那时的处境也许并不理想，情况也就不容乐观了。不要等到这种情况发生时才行动，学习，是人生的一部分。
享受学习，不要惧怕学习。在终身学习 的路上一步一步迈进，惧怕就会减少一点。闭门塞听才是真的令人惧怕。

宾，参加题为“放宽视野，跳跃思考”的第40届南大杰出校友论坛。
第一位主讲者是南洋科技创业中心主任许丁宦副教授。许教授在演讲中建议初出茅庐的创业者要摸清市场脉络，找到缺口，创造商机，并建立坚强的企业实力，以确保企业与市场接轨与。许教授还向来宾介绍了南洋 科技创业中心开设的“创业与创新课程”，这门课程旨在帮助学员们培养企业家精神。
论 坛 的 第 二 位 主 讲 者 是永 续 科 技 公 司 的 联 合 创 办 人
陈秋豪先生（电机与电子工程学院/2012年毕业班；南洋科技创业中心/2015年毕业班）。该公司主要提供能源管理解决方案，协助企业减少能源消耗。作为一位多产的创业家，陈先生还联合创立了多家公司，其中包括发展将耳机转换为环绕立体音响技术的Immersive Sound-scape公司。
陈先生在演讲中分享了自己的创业趣事和实用建议，鼓励大家从一开始就要心怀远大梦想，开发新奇有趣的想法，这样才能鼓舞别人共同努力，让梦想成真。
永不服输
在问答环节，南大校友事务总监郭南先生请陈先生分享成功秘诀。陈先生回答说：“碰到问题时，一定要戒除‘办不到’的心态,这样才能找到成功的机会。”
当被问到如何寻找优秀创业辅导者时，陈先生鼓励听众

热爱高尔夫球的60余位南大校友参加了2017年4月11日在滨海湾高
尔夫球场举办的首届南大校友高尔夫球友谊赛。
尽管比赛是在艳阳高照的中午，校友们的好心情却丝毫不受炎热天气的影响。对于那些过去经常一起打球的校友来说，这次友谊赛是与好友团聚的好 机会。
苏志成博士（商学院/1972年毕业班）在比赛中一路遥遥领先，荣获第一名。除前三名的奖项之外，校友事务处还为校友准备了“最近洞奖”和“最远距离奖”（请见下列得奖者名单）等创意奖项。
黄 亿 菱 女 士 ( 南 洋 商 学 院 / 2012年毕业班)表示，自己报名参加这次友谊赛是为了给生活注入一些变化。“我总是和同一群朋友打球，而且很少来到滨海湾高尔夫球场”，她说，“我想为
什么不来是试一试，自我突破一下呢？我很高兴在这里结识了许多鼓舞人心的新朋友。”
张雷先生（电机与电子工程学院/1993年毕业班）是这次活动的组织委员之一。他表示，高尔夫球不仅是一项休闲活动，也是促进校友们互相交流的良机。他说：“我们正打算每两个月举行一次高尔夫球比赛，希望通过这样的活动来建立南大校友间更加牢固的联系。”
比赛结束后，校友们一起前往滨海湾广场校友会所享受了丰富的自助晚餐。
南大校友事务总监郭南先生感谢校友们热情参加这场首届友谊赛。他说：“基于历史背景，南大校友由三部分组成，即来自南洋大学、南洋理工学院和南洋理工大学的校友。我们真诚地希望这三大校友团体能够通过这样的活动增进彼此间的友谊与互动。”

Dr Soh Chee Seng (Commerce/1972) played his way to a first-place finish. In addition to the top three winners, novelty prizes such as ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ were also awarded.
After the game, alumni gathered at the NTU Alumni House at Marina Square for a well-deserved buffet dinner.
NTU Chief Alumni Affairs Officer Mr Guo Sam Nan thanked the alumni for participating in the first-time occasion. “Due to its history, NTU is made up of three major groups: those from Nantah, Nanyang Technological Institute (NTI) and NTU,” he said. “We really hope that these three groups of alumni can mingle through activities and events such as this.”

A COUNCIL FOR CLOSE TIES
南大 校 友 理 事 会 第 三 次会议于2017年2月25日召开，共有38名校友
理事会成员出席。校友理事会主席南大校长安博迪教授为会议致开幕词，分享了南大的最新发展以及校友联系方面开展的各项计划，同时也对一直以来大力支持母校、为母校慷慨贡献的校友们表达了诚挚的谢意。
校友事务总监郭南先生向理事会成员介绍了校方为增进校友联系与交流所实行的重要方案，其中包括成立新的校友会所，推出校友手机应用程序，成立海外校友圈，促进校友间交流以及开展校友联系问卷调查等。
就业与实习指导处主任卢沛华先生及一般教育与活动事务处副主任Pauline Ho女士向理事们介绍了校友参与就业指导的志愿工作机会，例如为南大学生提供实习机会，参与学生与企业雇主交流活动，和接待南大学生的企业访问等。
APPLAUDING ALUMNI AMBASSADORS逾 3 0 0 位 校 友 及 来 宾 参 加 了2017年3月3日在克拉码头新加坡诺富特大酒店举行的“南大校友大使答谢晚宴”。由南大校友事务处主办，此晚宴旨在表扬2000余位校友大使奉献出宝贵的时间、专长和资源，以不同方式为母校服务的精神。
南大副校长（国际事务）余明华教授出席晚宴并担任主宾，他向校友大使们的无私贡献表示由衷的感谢。余教授说：“校友大使是南大最强有力的支持者。这些令人钦佩的校友们慷慨地贡献出他们的时间、专长和资源，推动母校达成使命。”

NTU President and Alumni Council Chairman Professor Bertil Andersson opened the session with an update on alumni engagement initiatives, and
extended his appreciation to alumni who had generously supported these initiatives.
Chief Alumni Affairs Officer Mr Guo Sam Nan outlined the University’s various strategies for cultivating stronger alumni relations. These included the NTU Alumni Houses, the alumni mobile app, overseas Alumni Circles, alumni-to-alumni engagement and the alumni engagement survey.
Mr Loh Pui Wah, Director of the NTU Career and Attachment Office, and Ms Pauline Ho, Deputy Director of the NTU Office of General Education and Mobility, spoke about volunteer opportunities for alumni.
Council members then engaged in a dialogue session on topics such as how to make better use of technology in alumni engagement. They also proposed forming smaller sub-committees to look into matters such as career development and alumni events.

C lose to 250 alumni and guests attended the NTU Alumni Am-bassadors Appreciation Dinner,
held on 3 March 2017 at the Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay.
The dinner honoured NTU’s some 2,000 alumni ambassadors, who set aside time and resources to serve their alma mater in various ways.
NTU Vice President (International Affairs) and guest of honour Professor Er Meng Hwa thanked them for their contributions.
“Our alumni ambassadors are the University’s greatest supporters and advocates. To advance the mission of their alma mater, they have been extremely generous with their time, talent and resources,” he said.

院/2008毕业班）独具慧眼，发现中小型企业因缺乏互联网知识而丧失了许多潜在利润成长的机会。于是她本着服务本地商人的愿景，创办了一个方便易行的自助式网络广告平台，以响亮的“口碑”为公司命名 。
“ 口 碑 ”不 以 明 星 博 客 代言，却以“日常社媒影响者”另辟 蹊 径 。所 谓“ 日 常 社 媒 影 响者”是指那些拥有500位以上粉丝，能够传达良好信誉，积极与粉丝互动的博主。举个例子，明星博客也许拥有10万名粉丝，虽然他们在社交媒体上影响范围较广，但参与互动较低。50位日常社媒影响者，每位有2000名粉丝，也可以达到同样的影响范围，而且参与互动性也许 更高。

A ten-year veteran of the digital marketing industry, Ms Evangeline Leong (NBS/2008) saw how the
lack of familiarity with the internet was depriving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of potential revenue growth.
Sensing an opportunity to serve local companies, the ever-enterprising Ms Leong came up with Kobe, a self-serve, easy-to-use platform.

TOASTING TO A BRAND NEW ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
校友和嘉宾出席南大校友英语演讲俱乐部成立仪式。
小木槌轻轻一敲，校友英语演讲俱乐部正式成立。南大校友英语演讲
俱乐部会长洪科思校友(机械与宇航工程学院/2001年毕业班)和南大校友事务总监郭南先生共同主持了俱乐部开幕仪式。2017年4月8日，南大校友英语演讲俱乐部在滨海广场校友会所举行了第149回会议，也是俱乐部正式成为南大校友会属下一员的的日子。洪会长发表了开幕词，随后郭总监也发表了演讲。
开幕仪式的主持人Cheng Kok Beng先生 (黄金辉传播与信息学院/2008年毕业班)曾是2015年80区（新加坡）幽默演说冠军，他也是铜牌高级演讲员，他以幽默风趣的演讲赢得了满堂欢笑和掌声。
南大校友英语演讲俱乐部成立于2004年5月3日，创始会长是Anand Jude Anthony博士（计算机工程学院/1991年毕业班），目前已由最初的20名会员发展到40名会员，会员人数增加了一倍。
在13年的成长过程中，该俱乐部曾在2009年和2014年两度荣获总统杰出俱乐部奖；2015年，该俱乐部荣获国际演讲会组织最有趣演讲俱乐部视频比赛冠军。
该俱乐部的宗旨是帮助会员发展良好的沟通技能。会员中有南大新毕业生也有老校友。俱乐部每个月定期在南大纬壹校区举办两次聚会。俱乐部还组织海外活动，与澳大利亚、香港、马来西亚、泰国和越南的演讲俱乐部交流联谊。

The ceremony took place on 8 April 2017 at the Alumni House at Marina Square, as part of the NTU Alumni Toast-masters Club’s 149th Chapter Meeting.
Event emcee Mr Cheng Kok Beng (WKWSCI/2008), the 2015 District 80 (Singapore) Humorous Champion and Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB), entertained the participants with his wit and showmanship.
The Club’s objective is to help its members develop good communication skills.

立了！100多位校友和来宾出席了在滨海广场校友会所举办的成立仪式。15号宿舍楼高级宿舍长Siriwan Chutikamoltham博士担任主宾，主持仪式。
这是15号宿舍楼自2001年正式开放入住以来的第一次校友聚会。15号宿舍楼的首批入住学生，2002年毕业班的校友们也兴致勃勃地参加了这次聚会。
新成立的15号宿舍楼校友会在Mohamed Muhaimin先生 (化学与生物医学工程学院/2014年毕业班)的带领下，立志通过组办各种社交活动，为校友和现有住宿学生搭建起沟通桥梁。

25 March 2017. Around 100 alumni and guests attended the ceremony, held at the Alumni House at Marina Square and officiated by guest of honour Dr Siriwan Chutikamoltham, Senior Hall Fellow of Hall 15.
It was the first gathering of alumni since Hall 15 opened its doors to residents in 2001; those who came included alumni from the Class of 2002, the hall’s inaugural batch of residents.

ENGAGEMENT PAR EXCELLENCE Flying the Singapore flag up high is NTU’s AAO team, whose entry was chosen as one of two regional finalists of the 2017 CASE Circle of Excellence in the platinum category of Best Practices in Alumni Relations.
NTU will represent the Asia-Pacific region at the international round of the competition.
AAO’s entry, “NTU’s creative strategies for engaging volunteers in China”, received praise from the panel of judges, which recognised NTU’s efforts at engaging its 213,000 alumni around the world.
献爱心，赏杜鹃，增友情
2017年4月8日，南大贵州校友会代表及社会爱心人士一同前往星宿小学，在南大校友刘海校友（人文与社会科学学院/ 2012年毕业班）的悉心安排下，大家一起给那里的同学们送去温暖。由于处于偏远山区，小学里有很多贫困学生需要来自社会各界的关心和关怀。南大贵州校友会不仅为星宿小学的困难学生送去了学习、体育用品，并以一对一帮困的方式，捐助了25名贫困学生。校友会还设立了“南大贵州校友会奖学金”，每年奖励5名品学兼优的学生，并将星宿乡中心小学作为“南大贵州校友会爱心助学学校”，开展为期5年的定点助学帮困。
4月的黔南杜鹃花盛开，校友们在爱心助学之余，也感受到了黔南自然风光和少数民族文化，增强了校友会凝聚力，拉近了校友间的友谊。

南洋理工大学校友事务处和南大印度南部校友会于2017年2月12日在印度金奈 SRM酒店联合举办了联谊活动。此次活动标志着南大印度南部校友会的正式成立。
南大校长安博迪教授当时正访问印度，在金奈接受SRM大学颁予的名誉博士学位，并出席此联谊活动。南大副校长（校友与发展事务）李盛光教授和校长办公室高级执行主任 B.V.R. Chowdari 教授也出席了这次活动。

4号宿舍的前辈校友也出席了此次活动。学生宿舍管理委员会第二任助理体育秘书刘家华先生(南洋商学院/1991年毕业班)分享了4号宿舍传统福建喝彩的由来，令来宾无不开怀，使此次活动在欢笑声中落下帷幕。

笑的夜晚。此次活动的发起人是知识管理和信息研究研究生项目主任李主强博士，以欢迎知识管理项目的校友。

30多名黄金辉传播与信息学院的校友在2017年2月19日参加了乌敏岛自然游活动。在接触大自然的同时，校友们不仅欣赏到绿意盎然的自然美景，和有趣的本地野生动物，更加强了校友间的联系，放松身心，一解都市生活的紧张压力。

南大土木与环境工程学院校友会第20届年度会议于2017年2月23日在新加坡皇后峰公寓展示厅内举行，约40位校友及来宾出席。
土木与环境工程校友会会长张奇善先生（土木与环境工程学院/1986年毕业班）汇报了该校友会在过去一年的工作，并展望了新加坡基础设施建设的未来发展。
张 奇 善 会 长 说 ，过 去 2 0 年来，南大土木与环境工程学院校友会助学基金一直为该学院本科生提供助学金和书卷奖。迄今为止，已有86名南大本科生获得该基金的助学金，另有10人获得书卷奖。

计算机科学与工程学院的60余名校友和来宾出席了2017年2月18日在克兰芝举办的计算机
科学与工程学院校友卡丁车挑战赛。有11位参赛者进入了决赛，最后其中3名获胜。南大校友事务总监郭南先生和学院副主任（学生）郭旭才副教授为获奖者颁发了奖品。
计算机科学与工程学院校友会于2017年3月11日在亚太酿酒厂举办了校友啤酒嘉年华。郭旭才副教授和学院副主任（本科生研究）温奖花副教授出席了此次活动。在参观啤酒厂的过程中，校友们了解了虎牌啤酒的历史及酿造过程，有些校友还一展自己的倒啤酒技术。
BUILDING TIES IN CHENNAI
NTU AAO and NTU AA (Southern India) jointly organised a networking event on 12 February 2017 at SRM Hotel, Chennai, to mark the AA’s inauguration.
NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson, who was in Chennai to receive an honorary doctorate from SRM University, attended the event. NTU Vice-President (Alumni and Advancement) Professor Lee Sing Kong and Senior Executive Director at the NTU President’s Office Professor B.V.R. Chowdari were also present.
AN OCCASION TO CHEER Nearly 50 Hall 4 alumni attended their Graduation and Alumni Night on 1 March 2017 at Collin’s Grill, Marina Square. The event was organised by the 30th Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC), with the support of the new Hall 4 Alumni Association and the NTU Alumni Affairs Office (AAO).

由21名南大MBA2016级校友及1名2015级“南洋—交大MBA”项目学员组成的南大南洋商学院（NTU-NBS）代表队在这次比赛中斩获亚沙团队最高荣誉奖——沙鸥奖。
本次南洋理工大学商学院参赛队获得了南洋商学院梁文松院长和校方领导的大力支持，以及南大驻中国办公室、上海校友会沈根林会长，以及上届沙队员们的热情协助。

REUNITING AMIDST NATURE
Some 120 alumni reunited at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) building on 11 February 2017 for an evening of friendships, food and fun.
Some 30 WKWSCI Knowledge Management and Information Studies alumni got up close and personal with nature on 19 February 2017 at the WKWSCI Alumni Pulau Ubin Nature Experience.
They enjoyed Pulau Ubin’s greenery and charming sights, and even saw some local wildlife. It was a good opportunity to escape the city and explore the beauty of nature.
BUILDINGS AND BURSARIES
Some 40 alumni and guests attended the NTU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Association’s (NCEEAA) 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on 23 February 2017 at the Queens Peak condominium show flat.
NCEEAA President Er Chong Kee Sen (CSE/1986) shared that for the last 20 years, NCEEAA’s bursary fund has been awarding bursaries and book prizes to CEE undergraduates. Thus far, 86 students have benefited from the bursaries, and ten have received book prizes.
BREWING UP SOME FUN
More than 60 School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) alumni and guests attended the SCSE Alumni Go Kart Challenge-cum-AGM on 18 February 2017 at the KF1 Karting Circuit in Kranji.
SCSE alumni had a brewing good time at the SCSE Alumni Beer Fest, held on 11 March 2017 at Asia Pacific Breweries. Associate Professor Quek and SCSE Assistant Chair (Undergraduate Studies) Associate Professor Nicholas Vun Chan Hua were present.

陆文巍先生Lu Wenwei 电机与电子工程/1999年毕业班
离开中国，负笈远游，来到南大学习对我来说既令人兴奋又充满挑战。求学期间，我参加了南大戏剧社，登台表演。这个经历改变了我的人生。我曾经是一个羞怯的学生，但戏剧和舞台让我发现自己有勇气、有能力在观众面前表演，一展自己的才华。
毕业后，我探索过不同的职业道路，在瑞士学习管理，在西安管理健身俱乐部，在北京奥运会期间负责协调招待工作。现在，我在上海的一所国际学校担任国际预科证书课程经济学教师。我鼓励自己的学生成为具有责任感的全球公民，以及具有明辨是非能力的思想者。

南大对我而言是一段难忘的青春时光。我还记得雨天沿着遮雨棚走去Graduate Hall附近车站的情景。当时许多学生为了节省时间而抄近路。一天，我们突然发现南大沿着学生们时常走的那条近路搭建了一条有遮盖的小路，可见学校对学生的关心多么体贴入微。
我的职业规划是在高校任教，南大毕业后我也实现了自己的梦想。现在我在中国郑州大学任教，继续在我读南大时的研究领域内前行。2014年升为教授，目前兼任郑州大学学报（工学版）执行主编。
从不懂得研究是什么的大学毕业生，到拿到博士学位离校，南大的学习对我有很大的帮助。
每年的第一节课，我总是把对南大的介绍作为开场白，把我在南大经历过的、学习到的分享给我的学生，也希望他们以后也可以去南大深造。
我的主要兴趣是研究、阅读、旅行。去年升级当了妈妈后，又加了一项：幼儿教育。

我现在是新加坡民航管理局的航空管制员，我的妻子是新加坡航空公司机场服务发展部门的行政人员。
