Nonlinear differential equations have been extensively usedto mathematically model many of the interesting and impor-tant phenomena that are observed in many areas of scienceand technology. They are inspired by problems which arisein diverse fields such as economics, biology, fluid dynamics,physics, differential geometry, engineering, control theory,materials science, and quantum mechanics.

The purpose of this special issue is to highlight somerecent developments in methods and applications of non-linear differential equations. The majority of the paperscontained in this special issue are based on areas of researchranging from functional analytic techniques to Lie symmetryand singularity methods as well as numerical methods thatare applied to both partial and ordinary differential equations.There are papers which deal with fractional and stochasticdifferential equations and in addition papers analysing equa-tions that arise in engineering as well as classical and fluidmechanics and finance.

Hundred and fifteen papers were submitted for possiblepublication in this special issue. After a rigorous reviewingprocess, fifty-three papers were finally accepted for publica-tion.

We very much hope that the papers published in this spe-cial issue will be useful to a large community of researchersandwill arouse further research in the topics presented aswellas in the connected fields.
