Theoretical Astrophysics will include select textbooks and monographs span-ning the principal areas of modern astrophysics research. Areas of focus will include cosmology, high-energy astrophysics, particle astrophysics, and planetary studies. Books will explore not only particular types of astronomical objects and phenomena, but also important new techniques, and explorations of larger subfields within the discipline of theoretical astrophysics.
As a rule, the series is not intended to include projects that fall within the exclusive purview of astronomy or that are motivated solely by physical processes, without a direct connection to current topics in astrophysics. The key unifying theme of this series is its emphasis upon the physical principles underlying theoretical astrophysics. Though topics may initially be driven by observations or the development of new instrumentation, the core thesis of each book will center on the physics pertinent to our inter-pretation of the current data or future observations.
