INTERNATIONAL NEWSLETTER OF BJC GROUP / ISSUE 013 / NOVEMBER 2017 C NNECT On 9 th November 2017, Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul, CEO & President of BJC and Big C, and Mr. Pattaphong Iamsuro, President of BJC Business Group I, celebrated 20 th Anniversary of Thai Beverage Can Co., Ltd., ASEAN’s market leader in aluminum can and cap industry. Thai Beverage Can is a joint venture formed by BJC, Standard Can Co., Ltd. and Ball Corporation, United States. Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, presided over this event and was welcomed by Mr. Saroj Chayavivatkul, President of Thai Beverage Can. In 2002, TCC Group acquired Thai Beverage Can and in 2007 the company was transferred to BJC Group. Thereafter, BJC Group became major shareholders to jointly operate and develop Thai Beverage Can up to the present. Thai Beverage Can celebrated 20 th Anniversary as the leader in Aluminum Can industry On 26 th October 2017, BJC representatives paid respect and offered sandalwood flowers to the portrait of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej to express their grief and gratitude at Royal Thai Embassy, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. CAMBODIA LAOS BJC and M-Point Mart organized the booth and activities in the most important Buddhist festival “Boun That Luang” during 1 st – 4 th November 2017. Mr. Piriya Kamoldechdecha, Senior Vice President, Merchandise-Fresh Food, Big C Supercenter, represents the company to support Thai Good Agricultural Practice Institute (ThaiGAP) and Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand (TCC& BOT) in upgrading Thai vegetables and fruits to meet ThaiGAP standard. ThaiGAP is the standard seeking to improve production efficiency and to ensure products safety from upstream to downstream process, and also allowing customers to trace the original source of each agricultural product. The project is a collaboration between TCC&BOT, owner of ThaiGAP, Kasetsart University, National Food Institute, National Science and Technology Development Agency, and Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Public Organization). The aim is to focus on educating farmers to enhance their capabilities in competing with others and to improve their management process in upgrading the quality of Thai agricultural products by implementing “Agriculture 4.0” concept from Public-Private Collaboration Project. Big C supports Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand upgrading Thai vegetables and fruits to meet ThaiGAP standard. THAILAND

M-Point Mart received“Best SME Year 2017” Award

Mr. Phongpaseuth Kanlagna, CEO of M-Point Mart Trading Co., Ltd. was granted the award of “Best SME Year 2017” from Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry at National Convention Centeron 26th October 2017. This shows that M-Point Mart Trading is one of SME businesses in Laos which has been recognized by Lao government and Lao people.

During 26th – 27th October 2017, Sales department recently sent a group of visitors consisting of representatives from restaurants, canteens and industrial kitchens on a visit to its Da Lat Vegetable Platform and the farms of VietGAP standard advanced farmers who have been business partners with MM for over a decade. “With every type of vegetables and fruits, MM works closely with the farmers to take samples from each production phase at the farm for testing until harvesting time and before shipping the products out to the stores.” Stated Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom, Quality Control Manager, MM Mega Market Vietnam. Being the fiffiirst time on the MM’s fiffiield trip to Da Lat Vegetable Platform, Ms. Vo Minh Tam of the Son Thuy restaurant disclosed that it is imperative for her restaurant to keep the customers safe by selecting food products with unequivocal traceability. “Having been a customer of MM Mega Market for about a decade, I do trust this supplier as their vegetables and food products are always fresh and can be traced”, added Tam. To satisfy the high demand from customers for safety vegetable and fruit products, MM is enlarging the farming area from 250 ha to 400 ha, and doubling the output from 12,000 tons a year to 24,000 tons a year. The larger output will not only meet the demand for domestic customers, but will also be shipped out of Vietnam to Big C Thailand and other countries in the region.

Big C launched “besico”,affordable in-style Housewares Hard line & Home line of Big C Supercenter launched housewares under “besico” brand with over 2,000 products such as bedding, pillows, blankets, furniture and other home decorations to match customers lifestyles while offering them good quality products at reasonable prices. “besico” derived from “Basic”, “Simple” and “Comfort” which are key concepts in designing products. “besico” emphasizes on product quality by importing 100% cotton from USA and controlling the production process by Thai manufacturer which is certififfiied international standard. Big C believes that besico will bring good feedback from customers and that sales of Hard line & Home line will increase by 15% from last year or approximately 2,000 million baht. On 11th October 2017, BJC

representatives in Myanmar participated in cash donation for Kathina with Royal Thai Embassy to Abbot Training School at Mandalay Region.
