Thank you parents for attending conferences this past Thursday! Our last evening will be Tuesday, November 18, 2014 4:00-7:00 PM. Please try to attend a conference with your child’s teacher. If you must bring them to conference, they should remain with you at all times. We want our Eagles to be safe. There is no adult supervision in the gymnasiums. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Congratulations to all the Eagles who earned the Principal’s Award and Honor Roll (3rd to 5th graders). Names are listed on page 3-6 of this newsletter! The COMPASS CHALLENGE has begun! This competition will last throughout the year. The goal is for students in grades 3-5 to work for at least 60 minutes a week on COMPASS and KG-2nd graders to work at least 30 minutes. Weekly prizes will be awarded for classes with the highest percentage of students hitting the goal, most time spent working on COMPASS as an individual and total time spent as a class.     Where Eagles Learn to Soar!

    Child Find

    Child Find is an activity conducted by state and local education agencies

    to locate children ages birth to 21 that have disabilities. The purpose of

    the program is to provide special education and related services that are

    needed. Disabilities may include developmental delays in communication

    skills, motor skills, or social emotional/behavior functioning. A student is

    considered disabled if they have one or more of the following conditions:

    autism, deaf-blindness, hearing impairment, brain injury, learning disabili-

    ties, emotional disturbance, or a speech or language impairment. If you

    know of any child who has or may have special needs, please contact Mrs.

    Eileen Bowers, Office of Pupil Services, Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools

    at 440-975-3800. Once notified, the school district will contact the

    parent/guardian to find out if the child needs to be evaluated. The evalu-

    ation will be provided free of charge and if eligible, the child will receive

  • To access COMPASS go to the WESCHOOLS.ORG website and click the student tab. COM-

    PASS is a choice on this menu. Each Edison Student has an online COMPASS login.

    Login: Student # EX: 58142

    Password: Student# plus their initials EX: 58143kr

    School: EdisonES (must be typed in)

    If your child is using a PC or Mac COMPASS should work without a problem (please make sure

    flash is updated). If your child is using a tablet and COMPASS is not working smoothly, you

    may need to follow the directions below using an app called PUFFIN ACADEMY.

    I-Pad: Download the app: Puffin Academy for I-Pad, have at least 13MB of space, iOS

    6.0 or higher, and Wi-Fi.

    Android: Download the app: Puffin Academy for Android, have at least 17MB of space,

    Android 4.3 or higher, and Wi-Fi.

    Using this app lets students enter the COMPASS website and use the program.

    In an effort to go paperless we want to send the newsletter electronically each week. You

    have 2 options to do this.

    Option 1: If you are a parent/guardian you can set up your POWERSCHOOL account for

    e-mail or even texts! Login to your parent account, go to the icons on the left

    side of the screen and click on the SCHOOLMESSENGER tab. From there you

    can set up your account in various ways that suit you!

    Option 2: Anyone can receive general e-mails from ANY SCHOOL in the district by going to

    WESCHOOLS.ORG and, using the PARENT TAB, click on ‘E-mail Communciation

    Setup’. Then you can create an account and set up the e-mails.

    We hope that these options allow you to stay more informed about the great things happening
