Assignment Research works by Edgar Allen Poe, and select one that you like or one that you think has good imagery. Design a composition that illustrates a scene or imagery from the work. Think about how you can communicate the emotion from the story via imagery (Romanticism emphasized emotions, especially dark emotions like fear, apprehension, and terror). Focus on lighting, shadows, and texture (i.e. hatching/crosshatching) Include at least one line of text from Poes work in the project. 4. Assignment Continued Remember: There is a difference between communicating terror and just being graphic and gory. The less you show (the less graphic you are), the more psychologically thrilling an image can be. Leave some to the imaginationi.e. dont show the pendulum from The Pit and the Pendulum slicing somebody open!!! Just showing the sharp pendulum implies danger and incites fear. 5.
