News from Edendale’s PTA Quiz Night & Dance Review Thank you to everyone who helped make Quiz Night a big success on the evening of Friday 28th of June! I would like to give special thanks to Kathy and Sarah for the amazing hours they put into making Quiz Night happen. To David for creating and implementing the Quiz – his first time ever! To Mose’ for donating his time to DJ and MC on the night. To Rowan for organising such generous alcohol sponsorship. To Rosemary for taking all the photos of the Quiz night and of course to all the staff and PTA members who gave their time. As well as all the other volunteers. Thank you all! A massive thank you to Aamel for co-ordinating the event. A fantastic time was had by everyone and there were many great costumes! We raised $7,766.00. This money will be used for additional resources for the school such as school trips, shows, Garden to Table and school equipment. As well as getting support from our wonderful volunteers and the school community we received generous support from a number of businesses. Please support these businesses in return. A list of these sponsors is attached please take the time to check them out. The 2012 / 2013 Entertainment™ Book expired on 1st June 2013. The new book is bigger than last years. Garden to Table We farewell Y.5-6 after two fabulous terms and hope they have learnt a great deal about gardening, harvesting and preparing delicious and nutritious food. We turned our harvested potatoes into potato pizza dough and topped them with a taste of summer with our harvest tomato sauce we preserved earlier in the year. As Y.5-6 were studying milk this term we decided to experiment how to turn a liquid into a solid! We made soft curd cheese infused with our garlic and rosemary. Have you noticed our bottle top art outside R23? Amazing what art you can make from recyclable material! A big thanks to Jo and the team at Pandoro in Mt Eden Quarter for providing us with so many bottle tops, it is much appreciated. In the garden we planted garlic and broad beans and we are digging holes for our exciting new arrivals—fruit trees. It is a great time to plant deciduous fruit trees if you are thinking of a little home gardening over the holidays! We are also continuing to prepare our beds for planting our spring crops! Have a relaxing and safe holiday and we look forward to seeing Y.3-4 teams next term. Sarah and Jodie
