Edelweiss Hosted Races
Edelweiss (like the other region clubs) needs to
host races in order for their to be a race circuit
We make about $1,200 per race.
– Proceeds are needed to defray equipment costs
and keep club fees manageable
In 2014 we are hosting 5 races

Parent Officials
Races are run with parent volunteers
– 38 positions to fill for each race
– 4 levels of officials qualification
Ski Club requires new parents to become
qualified
– Level 1 - January 11 or 12, 2014 (at Edelweiss)
09:30-11:30 and 12:30-14:30
– Level 2 - January 7 AND January 14 2014
(evenings in Ottawa)
Need Level 1 qualified NG parents for NG race (23
Feb) and ideally to help with the other races

What to do if you are late on regular
training day.
– Get your athlete ready

– Wait for your coach at bottom of hill
Race Day Routine Scratches: inform Andre in advance of race if known

– Arrive at hill 08:00

– Warm-up with coaches

No reimbursement for race fees in the event a
racer did not attend a race due to personal
reasons (i.e. sick, on holidays, unable to get to
race, etc.).
Parents to request credit for races missed
– Single consolidated request per family
– Submitted to Treasurer by 31 March 2014
– Provide race start list for any race missed
– Credit applied to next year’s club fees
Athlete of the month awards
Six levels (NG Saturday, NG Sunday, U10, U12,
U14, U16/U18)
Given in mid Jan, mid Feb, mid March.
Award based on team spirit, improvement,
commitment, etc.
Coaches: to select awardees
Published on a board in the main lodge (with
picture of the athlete and his/her coach) and on a
board in the race lodge
