Straightforward and student-friendly, Tucker’s Economics for Today, 6e is the most pedagogically-rich and engaging principles text on the market. Ideal for students of varying levels of skills and preparation, this text presents learn-ers with the basics of economic prin-ciples and the context to apply them to their everyday lives. The Sixth Edition continues Tucker’s tradition of using a unique textual and visual learning sys-tem to concisely present and reinforce core concepts, then assess student comprehension. Take a guided tour of Tucker’s key features and see how this edition is a Student’s Text!

You’re the Economist/Analyze the Issue

This feature is a fan-tastic way to introduce critical thinking into your course. Students are exposed to timely, real-world extensions of economic theory. Then, they use their knowledge to analyze the issue through open-ended questions that require them to synthesize and contextualize the information they just

read. Many of these boxed features include quotes from newspaper articles over a period of years demonstrating that economics concepts remain relevant over time.

Global Economics

This edition carefully integrates international topics throughout the text and presents the material using a highly readable and accessible approach. All sections and boxes that present global economics are identifi ed by a global icon.

Graphs and Causation Chains

Causation chains are included under many graphs throughout the text. This pedagogical device helps students visualize complex economic relationships in terms of simple box diagrams that illustrate how one change causes another change.

Visual Summaries

Because graphing analysis is so impor-tant to understanding, each chapter ends with a summary of the key concepts com-plete with a graphical representation of the concept in thumbnail view right next to the summary. These serve as visual reminders for students as they fi nish the chapters, review, and study for quizzes

and exams. No more fl ipping back and forth between the summary and the illustrative graph.

End-of-Chapter Practice Quizzes

The fi nal section of each chapter provides multiple-choice questions with answers in the back of the text. In addition, students may visit the Tucker Web site (www. cengage.com/economics/tucker) and then click the tutorial to obtain a visual explanation of each correct answer and a reference to page numbers in the text that explain the answer.

NEW! Part Road Map

This feature concludes each part with review questions listed by chapter. To reinforce the concepts, each set of questions relates to the interactive causation chain game. Each exhibit that has a causation chain in the text is included in the Animated Causation Chains game on the Tucker website, which makes it fun to learn.

Arrange the blocks correctly and hear the cheers.

Tucker: Because a Student Needs Practice

Aplia™

Founded in 2000 by economist and Stanford Professor Paul Romer, Aplia™ is dedicated to improving learning by increasing student effort and engage-ment. The most successful online product in Economics by far, Aplia

has been used by more than 800,000 students at over 850 institutions.

Visit www.aplia.com/cengage for more details. For help, questions, or a live demonstration, please contact Aplia at [email protected].

Grade It Now by Aplia™ Good news! In response to student and professor feed-back and research, Aplia Economics is moving to a new format called Grade It Now.

What is Grade It Now? Looking into student behavior while using Aplia, we found that students were spending much more time using graded problem sets than practice problem sets, and that many students were not reading the available feedback. We wanted to give students more incen-tive to learn from their mistakes. Grade It Now provides that incentive by giving students immediate, comprehensive feedback and allowing multiple attempts at each question.

Do you have questions or want more details about Grade It Now? Send an e-mail to [email protected] or call 888.858.7305.
