Reshaping Cities for EcoMobility: Strategies and Tactics This daylong dialogue will focus on how to reshape the urban built environment to accommodate EcoMobility. Experts will also present case studies from various parts of the world on how changes in urban form affect mobility. This dialogue will also explore tactical urbanism; short term interventions by citizens usually at small scale that aim to promote more spaces for the people and revert car oriented cities and what is the appropriate balance between such measures and longer term planning.

07 October 2015, Wednesday Stakeholders Dialogue Achieving and enabling EcoMobility: New and shared forms of mobility This daylong dialogue will focus on exploring how shared mobility can contribute towards an integrated transport system in developing countries in general and South Africa in particular. The advent of shared mobility especially bike sharing, car sharing, carpooling and e-hailing are inevitable in cities. These concepts also introduce new vehicle types including innovative human-powered and/or electric vehicles. Cities have different takes on the concepts and various business models exist. While some cities have embraced the new concept some are either hesitant or unacquainted with certain schemes. This dialogue will also focus on the role of shared mobility in promoting EcoMobility.

06 October 2015, Tuesday Stakeholders Dialogue

Workshops 05 October 2015, Monday

08 October 2015, Thursday Stakeholders Dialogue Making the commuting decision safe, sustainable and popular Many countries have invested significantly in public transport infrastructure such as BRTs (Bus Rapid Transport) or dedicated cycle lanes. However this is often insufficient to convince car owners to change their commute decision, especially for work and school trips. This dialogue will explore what is necessary to change commuter behaviour. The dialogue will touch on the role of technology, fashion and wellness opportunities to create a critical mass needed to support government led initiatives.
