ACHIEVING THE IMPOSSIBLE TO CREATE PROSPERITY IN RURAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH INNOVATION, EFFICIENCY AND
EMPOWERMENT
“We want to show that through our entrepreneurship we can help farmers build up realprosperity. Therefore, all we do should be based on the principle of building wealth for thefarmers.
We innovate new services, create more efficiencies and empower the farmers to grow theirbusiness. Hence, we can be at the forefront of changing the industry and safeguard the futureof cocoa and other crops in West Africa.“
– Rahul Gopinath, Regional Director, Africa
Our Purpose
At Ecom Ghana, we know that “Cocoa = Ghana! Ghana =Cocoa!”
We are the largest buyers of Ghana cocoa beans and cocoa butter, liquor and cake
from Ghanaian processors. Our local supply chain extends across the cocoa belt
procuring over 150,000 MT of cocoa annually.
As the largest sustainable and traceable cocoa supplier in the country, we take our
responsibility seriously to ensure that we give back to over 150,000 farmers. Over
the last 7 years we have paid back over USD 50 million in cash and in-kind
premiums.
Cocoa
Our advisory business arm has the core mission to build capacity of the farmer
and farmer organizations. Our service portfolio includes:
Good agricultural practices, environmental
practices and social practices training
Farm surveys and mapping
Alternative livelihood programmes
Seedling nursery and seedling distribution
Farm management services
Farm rehabilitation services
Advisory Services
Crop Doctor believes that the farmer has the right to access quality agro inputs at the
most affordable price.
We change the way the farmer is educated on the agro input usage by offering
training and guidance during purchase and application period.
Crop Doctor blends in a unique range of approved organic and inorganic inputs and
plant material as well as durable farming equipment.
Crop Doctor
Ecom is diversifying into new crop areas, including the procurement and export
of edible nuts and spices.
In Ghana, we are amongst the largest cashew nut exporters with a vast reach
across the growing region.
We work with interventions at the farm level to improve yield and productivity
by supporting farmers with training and agro inputs.
As we progress into the future, we plan to bring in our core competence of
building a sustainable and traceable value chain into this sector. We are also
exploring opportunities to originate ginger and turmeric from Ghana.
Edible Nuts and Spices
Kiteko is a reliable and dependent supply chain partner.
We have a strong fleet of over 160 trucks and 40 warehouses throughout the country
catering to our internal and various external client requirements.
Our trucks are equipped with GPS tracking, which enables you to track your goods
from the comfort of your office.
Safety is our utmost priority. We adhere to the highest health and safety standards and
we also comprehensively insure all our cargo.
Logistics
Small holder farmers often suffer from the lack of access to credit and the burden
of unsustainable interest rates. At I-Grow we aim to unlock the hidden potential of
our farming community by creating a credit rating report based on our extensive
knowledge of operating with them over the years. This helps farmers to gain
access to credit for their farming requirements.
We actively train farmers on managing their cash flow through the Farmer
Business School Programme. We also provide micro insurance for the farming
community to protect the farmer from unforeseen events.
Over 45,000 farmers have benefitted from the agro input credit programme which
aims to increase the farm yield and over 700 micro entrepreneurs have gained
access to tricycles branded “Kappo”.
I-Grow
Ecom Ghana has consistently been a part of community development over the
years. We have been able to achieve the following interventions:
