Egholm (a small island)Egholm is today completely flat, the highest point is 1,5 meter over surface of the sea. The low high makes the island vulnerable for a flood. They have tried to protect the island with dikes. The first dike was build in 1909, and today the main part of the island is dammed up. Even so a part of the island became flooded during a hurricane in 2005.

New school recycling politics During week twelve (2013) we had a subject about recycling. We decided to change our school politics about recycling by getting a new bin in each class. The new bins were meant for paper trash. We did it because we are concerned about the environment and the worlds’ resource problems. People are cutting down a lot of trees in the rainforests, even though we can reuse the paper up to seven times. Therefore it would be ridiculous not to reuse the paper as many times as possible. We spend the week making videos about recycling, getting the headmaster to agree to this new idea, getting people excited about it and make signs and posters about recycling so everybody would remember. Some people talked to every class at the school about the importance and the consequences if we do not recycle. If people don’t make a greater effort in recycling some animals will die out. That is because their living places and homes will be destroyed if we keep cutting down all the trees in the rainforests. It was an eye-opener for a lot of people because a lot of them really didn’t know about all the horrible consequences. Now the school has helped the world to change into a better place. We know that it isn’t a big step on the way but it is a start.  Emilie, Maja and Mathilde 8. Nat.
