Designed for trouble-freemake-up or process air heating.

Eclipse AH-MA burners produce a

uniform, odorless, and smokeless

flame ideal for heating fresh air in

make-up and process air heating

applications. The AH-MA design

provides stable operation over a wide

range of velocities, inputs and fuels.

AH-MA easily passes all global

standards for indoor air quality through

a wide operational range. It is ETL listed,

complying with ANSI Z21.20 design

standards, and is used in systems

which meet ANSI Z83.4 / CGA 3.7

emissions standards for NOx and CO.

The new aluminum burner body

creates a lightweight, corrosion

resistant burner. Cast iron and corrosion

resistant cast iron bodies are also

available. Divergent air wings are made

of stainless steel. The burner bodies

supply fuel to the center of the air

wings to control the air and fuel mixture

inside the burner and to optimize

emissions and efficiency.

Low pressure models require only a

6.0" w.c. P natural gas at 800,000

Btu/hr/LF, making them ideal for use

with the Maxitrol Selectra control valve.

Ready for the world

AH-MA burners combine advanced

engineering with installation and

operational features that are truly

world class.

• Assembled from straight sections,

tees and crosses to produce nearly

any configuration required.

• Inputs up to 1,200,000 Btu/hr/LF

• Up to 30:1 turndown

• Up to 450°F upstream air temperature.

• Up to 850°F downstream

air temperature.

• Multi-fuel capability

(natural gas, propane and butane)

In addition to the many user-preferred

features of AH-MA, Eclipse offers you a

comprehensive, global network of service

with more years of air-heating experience

than any other burner manufacturer.

Low EmissionAir Heating Burner

ECLIPSE AIRHEAT

BURNERS

Simple, long-lasting operation plus muchlower CO emissions thanother competitive air heating burners.

Eclipse AirHeat Burners are line type

burners ideal for generating volumes

of clean, hot air. Applications include

oven, dryers, fume incinerators, and

similar industrial equipment.

All models feature an integral

combustion air blower mounted on

the burner’s steel case. By supplying

the correct air volume and pressure

to the burner, the blower allows stable

operation over a wide range of duct

velocities without installing a profile

plate around the burner. The burner

can also be ordered without a blower

for use in recirculating air applications.

The newly designed Version 2 AirHeat

burners offer significant improvements

in the reduction of CO emissions,

especially at low fire, staying well

below the TA-Luft requirements over a

9:1 turndown range. That’s much lower

than the CO emission of other

competitive burners.

Ready for the world

AirHeat burners combine advanced

engineering with installation and

operational features that are truly

world class.

• Can be direct spark ignited.

• Does not require low-fire bypass air,

eliminating the need for piping and

check valve.

• Simplified set-up with pressure taps

for gas, air and chamber.

• Inputs up to 1.0MM Btu/hr/LF.

• Operate on any commercially available

gas—natural gas, propane, butane and

propane/butane mixture.

• Aluminum castings eliminate need for

special corrosion-resistant manifolds.

• Burner mounting arrangements include

duct mounting, slot firing and sealed

flange mounting with insertion depths

up to 6”.

In addition to the many user-preferred

features of AirHeat, Eclipse offers you a

comprehensive, global network of service

with more years of air heating experience

than any other burner manufacturer.

Designed for efficient high temperature process air heating in ducts.

The InciniFume is an in-duct burner,

originally developed by Eclipse for

supplemental firing in power generation

applications. The burner uses the

oxygen within the exhaust flow to

complete the combustion process. The

short flame and uniform temperature

distribution make it ideal for a variety of

industrial processes requiring large heat

inputs and high outlet temperatures.

The design provides stable operation

and clean combustion with a wide range

of velocities, inputs and fuels.

The InciniFume burner is modular in

design and is assembled in straight

sections, tee sections and crosses

to produce nearly any configuration

required. Each burner module consists

of cast stainless steel bodies and

four divergent air wings made of high

quality stainless steel. The burner body

supplies fuel to the center of the air

wings to control the air and fuel mixing

inside the burner, while optimizing

efficiency and reducing NOx emissions.

Proven Reliability ForSupplemental Firing

ECLIPSE FLUEFIRE

BURNERS

E C L

I P S

E

Supplemental firing forcogeneration and combinedcycle installations

In power generation stations, the exhaust

gases from gas turbines contain a

significant quantity of energy in the form

of heat. This energy can be used either

directly in heating processes or to

generate steam, which can again drive

steam turbines to generate more

electricity. When the heat requirement is

greater than that available from the

turbine exhaust gases, supplementary

firing can be applied. Eclipse has designed

the FlueFire burner specifically for this

purpose. It is an in-duct burner which can

be located directly in the exhaust gases

between the turbine and waste heat

boiler. The burner is also suitable for fresh

air operation.

Turndown The FlueFire burner

optimizes system efficiency as it takes its

oxygen requirement from the turbine

exhaust gases. A turndown over 10:1 is

generally obtainable across the full burner

matrix without the need to isolate burner

rows. This enables the burner to meet

changing heat demands while maintaining

uniform distribution across the duct area.

Flame stability and low Nox The

design of the FlueFire burner ensures

intimate mixing of the turbine exhaust

gases with the fuel which creates

exceptional flame stability at 100Pa

(0.4" w.c.) pressure drop across the

burner even on low calorific gases, which

in turn ensures clean combustion with

low NOx emissions. This is achieved by

swirling the turbine exhaust gases into

the gas jets. The swirling also cools the

module material and stabilizes

combustion just in front of the burner,

allowing high downstream temperatures.

Operating Temperatures Burner mod-

ules are manufactured from high tempera-

ture alloy steel, precision cut by laser to

ensure uniformity. This, together with the

self-cooling design, enables the burner to

function with inlet temperatures up to

700°C (1300°F) and outlet temperatures up

to 1200°C (2200°F).

Description FlueFire burners consist of a

rolled steel channel framework internally

insulated and covered with a heat resistant

sheet which is attached on the mounting

frame and provided with expansion

allowance. Each burner module comprises

a 6” stabilization plate perforated to create

a local swirl in the turbine gas. Rows can

be fired individually, or provided with verti-

cal flame propagation plates linking each

manifold row. When equipped with propa-

gation plates, the pilot is located at the bot-

tom of the rows and a UV scanner is

mounted at the end of the flame run.

InciniStar

BURNER

Waste gas incineration

In waste gas incinerators the gases,

that have to be oxidized, often contain

consi-derable concentrations of Hydro

Carbons at relatively low oxygen

contents.

The energy of the CxHy contributes to

the incineration process.

The InciniStar burner optimizes system

efficiency as it takes its oxygen require-

ment from the waste gas that has to

be incinerated.

Eclipse has designed the InciniStar

burner specifically for this purpose. It is

an in-duct burner which can be located

directly in the waste gases. The burner

is also suitable for fresh air operation at

elevated temperatures.

DescriptionInciniStar burners consist of a steel

mounting plate with gas manifold, UV

scanner tube and gas supported ignitor.

The burner modules are mounted on

the gas manifold. Each burner module

comprises a 150 mm stabilization plate

perforated to create a local swirl in the

waste gas. Rows are fired individually,

or (optional) provided with vertical

flame propagation plates linking each

manifold row. When equipped with

propagation plates, the pilot is located

at the bottom of the rows and a UV

scanner is mounted at the end of the

flame run.

TurndownA turndown over 15:1 is generally

obtainable across the full burner matrix

without the need to isolate burner

rows. This enables the burner to meet

changing heat demands while maintain-

ing uniform distribution and thus full

destruction of contaminations in the

waste gas across the duct area.

Flame stability and low NOx

The design of the InciniStar burner

ensures intimate mixing of the waste

gases with the fuel which creates

exceptional flame stability between

30 Pa and 600 Pa pressure drop across

the burner even on low calorific gases,

which in turn ensures clean combus-

tion with low NOx emissions.

This is achieved by swirling the waste

gases into the gas jets. The swirling also

cools the module material and stabilizes

combustion just in front of the burner,

allowing high downstream tempera-

tures.

Operating TemperaturesBurner modules are manufactured from

high temperature alloy steel, precision

cut by laser to ensure uniformity. This,

together with the self-cooling design,

enables the burner to function with

inlet temperatures up to 600°C and

outlet temperatures up to 1000°C.

of CO, NOx and unburned hydrocarbons.

Burner Design

The RatioStar uses a modular design

which can be adapted to almost any

desired configuration. The RatioStar

burner module dimensions are relatively

small at 6”x 6” (150 mm x 150 mm).

Each burner module consists of a flame

stabilizer and a gas nozzle and is built

from high quality stainless steel. The

stabilizer is designed to create a swirl in

the combustion air. The modular burner

heads are configured in rows of up to

used to connect individual burner rows

together to provide cross ignition.

Operating Range

The capacity per burner module is 425,000

BTU/hr (125 kW) at a fuel pressure of 34”

capacity, the flame length is approximately

5 feet (1.5 m). The minimum capacity per

burner module is 42,500 BTU/hr (12.5

kW). This results in a turndown from

nominal capacity of 10:1. The process air

flow upstream of the burner may have

temperatures of up to 1400ºF (750ºC).

Downstream temperature is limited to a

maximum of 2200ºF (1200ºC). The burner is

fired at an excess air percentage of 15% to

20%.The RatioStar operates on both natural

gas and propane.

The modular design of the RatioStar

provides the flexibility to create a wide

range of burner matrix configurations.

Eclipse engineers can design a complete

World Class Low EmissionAir Heating Burner Systems

ECLIPSE MINNOX

BURNERSNow the world’s best

direct-fired heating system

delivers lower emissions.

Patented Eclipse Minnox gasburner systems guaranteeemissions less than 5 ppmNOx and less than 30 ppm CO @ 3% O2.

And, even lower emissions can be

achieved under certain conditions! Yes,

now you can use efficient direct-fired

air heating to safely process food

products, malt, auto finishes, lumber,

paper and other products––with no

performance penalty––while holding

the line on emissions regardless of

your location …anywhere in the world.

• Minnox exceeds all state, regional,

national and international emission

standards for NOx and CO.

- In the United States, installation

of a Minnox system may allow

your company to receive valuable

emissions credits which you can

sell to other companies in your area.

• Widely recognized as an engineering

breakthrough, Minnox received the

coveted DSM Environmental

Technology Award.

• Minnox is also a marvel of simplicity

and safety, meeting or exceeding all

international codes and regulations.

An engineering triumph

The patented Minnox burner design

utilizes a premixed gas/air mixture with

excess air. The result is a cooler flame

(2200° F; 1200° C) which produces an

extremely low NOx discharge. What’s

more, a recirculating flame geometry acts

to significantly reduce CO emissions. Not

only is the air outside your plant cleaned

up…so is the air inside to create a safer

and healthier workplace.

Consider these additional user benefits:

• Allows you to use direct heat––

as opposed to less efficient indirect

heating––with no performance penalty.

Product discoloration or taste

contamination often associated with

traditional direct heating systems are

a thing of the past.

• All Minnox systems are custom

engineered to meet your specific

production and installation requirements.

• Packaged convenience. Minnox

systems are typically supplied with

the burner, mixer and supply manifold

mounted into a duct section or as a

side plate for insertion into existing

process ductwork.

Consider the many environmentally-

responsible and user-friendly advantages

of Minnox before investing in your next

direct air heating burner or system.

Ultra Low NOx Air Heat Duct Burners

ECLIPSE LINNOX BURNERS

Ultra low emission technology delivers clean combustion and excellent heat distribution

The Eclipse Linnox burner is designed for

direct fired air heating where ultra low

amounts of NOx and CO are required to

meet legislative and/or process require-

ments.

The emissions in the undiluted flue gases

are less than 15 ppm NOx at nominal input

and less than 100 ppm CO, corrected to

3% oxygen and firing on natural gas.

Linnox is a premix burner and is typi-

cally supplied with a mixer mounted to a

side-plate for insertion into the process

air duct. The pilot ignitor and flame rod or

UV adapter are installed on the mounting

plate. The gas/air mixture is mixed in a

specially designed gas nozzle and mixing

plate. The mixing section is on the outside

of the burner mounting plate.

Advanced design features

The Linnox burner incorporates a carbon or

stainless steel mixture chamber on which

the burner modules are mounted. The

burner modules are available with a wide

variety of inputs. This makes the burner

system an ideal source for industrial drying

processes where good heat distribution

and temperature uniformity are essential.

The gas/air ratio is controlled by a pro-

portionator which uses the modulated air

pressure to deliver the correct amount of

gas to the burner.

The flame is protected by a heat resistant

combustion chamber, and is essential to

achieve optimum combustion without

being influenced by the process air.

Flexible configuration options

Two burner types are available. The LC

type is a narrow, low capacity burner

available in lengths up to 6 meters. The

HC type is a wide, high capacity burner

BURNERS

General Description

The RM HeatPak is a fully assembled and

pre-wired modulating burner package, with

all safety and control components located

in such a way to make the burner as

compact as possible, whilst maintaining

easy access for service and maintenance.

Principle of operationThe RM HeatPak burner is air and gas ratio-

controlled by means of a state of the art

servo-type pressure ratio controller, integrated

with two safety shut-off valves in a common

block. The controller ensures a highly reliable

turn-down and steady control of the burner

output. The ratio controller also automatically

compensates for changes in operating condi-

tions, such as dirty air filters. For each fuel

type a specific gas orifice is selected which

limits the gas flow to the specified burner

capacity. This method simplifies burner set-up

as the maximum burner capacity is fixed.

Compare these RM HeatPakfeatures to any currentcompetitive burner package.

• Pressure ratio controller automatically

compensates for changes in operating

conditions -- such as dirty air filters --which

can upset the air/ gas ratio in competitive

They feature a high combustion air

swirl rate that produces a stable flame

with high turndown capabilities and low

levels of NOx and CO emissions.

The Eclipse Vortometric burners are

available in MI (Medium Intensity) and

HI (High Intensity) Series. The MI

Series burners are suitable for firing all

gases, and on some versions, light oils.

The HI Series burners, characterized by

a shorter flame length, are built to fire

all gases as well as light and heavy fuel

oils and various types of waste fuels.

Application Versatility

Vortometric MI and HI Series burners

operate from 6,000,000 to 210,000,000

BTU/hr., making them the right choice

for any high output heating process

including large dryers, ovens, calciners,

ImmersoJet burners fire at high

capacities through a small diameter

immersion tube. The combustion

gases from the burner scrub the inner

tube surfaces to produce the highest

heat transfer rate of any immersion

burner available.

Other ImmersoJet benefits are:

• Produces the industry’s highest

heat capacities and efficiencies.

• Tube requirements save valuable

space inside the tank.

• Comes mounted with a reliable low

or high pressure blower for ease of

installation.

• Quickly transfers heat to the immer-

sion tube, resulting in lower burner

surface temperature.

• Provides faster heat-up times than

any other immersion burner.

• Combustion chamber is outside the

tank, taking up less space and pro-

viding more uniform heat.

• Unique nozzle design ensures quiet

operation.

Ideal for retrofits.

In conventional immersion heating,

every cubic inch of a tank is crammed

with a bulky, large diameter tube.

Replacing this tube with a compact

ImmersoJet tube can provide substan-

tial advantages:

• Easier tube fabrication

• Lower tube material costs

• Easier handling and installation

• Reduced fuel costs

• Higher tank temperatures

Perfect for new tanks, too.

By combining high efficiency with

small diameter tubes, the ImmersoJet

gives you great design flexibility. With

ImmersoJet you can:

Minimize tank size. Reduce material

and fabrication costs, and conserve

floor space.

Reduce operating costs. Minimize

fuel costs, or increase production.

Reduce area requirements.

ImmersoJet tubes take up less space

in a tank, allowing you greater design

flexibility.

Benefit from multi-fuel capability.

high velocity flame with fuel saving recuperation

The Eclipse TJSR V5 is a direct fired,

self-recuperative burner based on our

industry proven ThermJet technology.

A space saving, integral eductor pulls

the furnace exhaust through an internal

ceramic recuperator. The recuperator

preheats the incoming combustion air

to very high levels, which improves

furnace operating efficiency to reduce

fuel usage by as much as 50% over

typical ambient air burners.

Built For Efficiency

The TJSR V5 design eliminates the

need for hot air ductwork required

by external recuperators, providing

savings in hardware and installation.

The internally insulated heat exchanger

section and exhaust housing hold heat

in the recuperative section, adding to

the heat recovery efficiency. This also

keeps external temperatures very low,

providing better operator comfort and

reduced thermal wear on associated

equipment outside the furnace shell.

Cost Saving Features

The integrated gas and air orifices

simplify burner piping, set-up and

The Perfect Thickwall BurnerUnique design deliversincreased efficiency andtemperature uniformity

The ExtensoJet is a nozzle-mix burner

that is designed to fire an intense

A simple idea for compound savings

Suitable for use with exhaust

streams up to 2100° F, Bayonet-Ultra

recuperators are high efficiency heat

exchangers designed to fit into the

exhaust leg of single, U, O, W or

Trident®-type radiant tubes. They’re

frequently paired with ThermThief

burners to provide fuel savings up

to 30%.

Conventional recuperators have

only one heat transfer tube. Each

Bayonet-Ultra contains multiple tubes to

dramatically increase the heat transfer

area while significantly decreasing the

amount of fuel required to maintain

required heat levels. Plus, an air cooled

housing cools the work area.

Installation; retrofitting is easy

ECLIPSE SER V5

SELF-RECUPERATIVE BURNERS

The SER V5 burner delivers the best fuel efficiency of any burner in its class.

With the burner and enhanced

performance recuperator coaxially

mounted inside a radiant tube, the

SER V5 internally transfers combustion

exhaust heat back to the burner

air supply in a counterflow pattern,

providing high preheat temperatures.

Exceptional Performance

The new, high efficiency recuperator

design incorporates a unique dual

finned combustor to provide an

increased heat transfer surface for

greater fuel savings. It also delivers

exceptional heat flux and temperature

uniformity. SER V5 cuts fuel costs from

35% to 55% over sealed ambient air

heat output of metallic tubes. This option

allows the use of shorter tubes, or fewer

burners, to deliver the same amount of

heat as with metallic tubes. With ceramic

outer tubes, the SER V5 is less costly

to own and maintain, with more reliable

operation, reduced downtime and fewer

production interruptions. In most cases,

ceramic tubes can also withstand cor

High Efficiency RecuperativeRadiant Tube Burners

ECLIPSE P-TUBE

BURNERSFuel efficient burner provides

uniform temperatures, low

emissions and long tube life.

The Eclipse P-Tube burner is a nozzle-

mixing velocity burner designed for

P-Tube applications. The burner design

provides flue gas recirculation

entrained by the products of combus-

tion. This recirculation provides lower

NOx emissions and good tube temper-

ature uniformity. With the burner and

recuperator coaxially mounted inside

the P-tube, waste heat is internally

transferred to the burner air supply,

providing high preheat temperatures,

reduced fuel consumption and higher

efficiencies than stand alone tube firing

burners. Models are available for firing

350 kBtu/hr into 6” and 7.5” P-tubes.

The P-Tube design:

• Cuts fuel costs from 35% to 50%

over sealed ambient air burners; even

more when replacing atmospheric

burners.

• Eliminates the hot air ductwork

required by external recuperators,

further increasing heat recovery.

• Places the recuperator within the

furnace wall, minimizing heat loss.

• Scrubs internal tube surfaces with a

jet flame technology, increasing heat

transfer efficiency.

• Moves exhaust and air past the heat

transfer tube in opposite directions,

creating a highly efficient counter-

flow pattern.

• Can be fitted to nearly any furnace,

gas or electric.

Great Versatility

• From convection ovens to heat treat-

ing furnaces, P-Tube burners have

been applied wherever clean, indirect

heat is required.

• For furnace temperatures up to 1850˚F

(1000˚C), P-Tubes are available in a

variety of alloys.

• Fewer burners necessary because of

increased surface area over straight

tubes.

Easy to Use

• Integral air and gas orifices for easy

set-up and monitoring.

• P-Tube design accommodates thermal

expansion, eliminating troublesome

expansion joints and seals.

• Convenient rear access allows burner

maintenance without disturbing air

connections.

Eclipse Brightfire

Bulletin 1110C

4/01

The Brightfire™ burner is an adjustable

low NOx air-fuel burner. Brightfire™

provides up to 35 percent lower

NOx emissions and superior flame

control compared to other burners.

In addition, the Brightfire burner

provides a wide turndown ratio and

its sleek design will accommodate

the tightest port constraints and

provide years of trouble-free service.

The burner’s low NOx emissions

and superior flame control are

accomplished through a combination

of coaxial annular and central core

flow streams. The momentum flux

(mass flow rate x velocity) of the

center jet is always dominant over

the surrounding annular jet, except

at the burner’s minimum velocity

setting, when the momentum flux

are equal. The Brightfire’s unique

design varies the momentum flux of

the individual jets by diverting gas

flow from one jet to the other while

changing the nozzle’s total flow area.

That is, as the center jet’s momen-

tum flux decreases, the annular jet’s

momentum flux increases. Figure 1

illustrates this behavior.

In practice, the dominant momentum

flux of the center jet pulls the annular

jet (through entrainment) into the

center jet. At the burner’s high

velocity settings, this results in a

more cohesive gas jet and the ability

to achieve shorter flame lengths than

an annular jet type burner alone.

At intermediate velocity settings,

increasing amounts of fuel are divert-

ed from the center jet to the annular

flow stream. This occurs within the

body of the burner. The annular flow

field then acts as a buffer between the

higher momentum center jet and the

combustion air stream. The dominant

center jet continues to entrain fuel from

the annular jet prior to entraining combus-

tion air. This delays mixing between fuel

and combustion air which reduces NOxformation.

BURNERS

Figure 1

Page 67: Eclipse Product Guide

Brightfire ™ Burners

Lower emissions, superior flame control and sleek design

At lower velocity settings, the

momentum flux of both the center

jet and annular jet is nearly equal.

However, the outer boundary of the

annular jet entrains relatively more

combustion air than it does at higher

velocity settings. Doing so creates a

more intense outer combustion zone

which encompasses the central fuel

core. The encircling combustion

zone coupled with low jet velocities

promotes fuel cracking and further

reduces NOx.

Figure 2 compares the relative NOx

generation between an annular jet

burner and the Brightfire burner as a

function of the velocity setting.

Typical furnace conditions should

allow the burner to operate in the

mid to low velocity settings to yield

NOx reductions between 25 to 35

percent over annular type burners.

ECLIPSE 04V

BURNERS

Eclipse 04V hot air nozzle-mixing

burners are suitable for many

applications ranging from small

glass day tanks, float glass

furnace working ends, refiners and

distributors to large multi-burner

recuperative furnaces.

A recuperator or other means

provides preheated combustion

air to the burner. Using combustion

air preheating will lead to increased

fuel savings. 04V burners may

be either side fired or end fired

on several types of continuous

furnaces. Any clean industrial gas

and/or grade of fuel oil of suitable

viscosity may be burned.

Eclipse 04V burners are constructed

of stainless steel, making them

more durable and less cumbersome

than refractory lined burners.

Fuel Savings

Sealed-in combustion is obtained

with the burner attached to a

furnace mounting plate and packed

or sealed to the burner ignition

block. Sealing the burner eliminates

infiltration of ambient air, reduces

combustion noise and ensures

that only pre-heated air is supplied

through the burner. Fuel savings

of up to 45% and higher flame

temperatures can be realized due

to the pre-heated combustion air.

ECLIPSE SIDE OF PORT

GAS BURNERS WRASP-DI

Side of port firing allows a high degree of

flame coverage using burners mounted

at the port neck providing easy access for

adjustment and maintenance. In general,

side of port firing provides high thermal

efficiency.

The Dual Impulse burner uses coaxial gas

jets in which the center jet flow is adjust-

able by means of a special calibrated

metering valve attached to the burner. By

altering the gas to the center jet, the thrust

of the burner can be controlled allow-

ing the flame length to be varied by 30%

without changing the nozzle. This allows

for optimization of the flame. The arrange-

ment also increases the flame luminosity

thus providing greater heat transfer to the

glass and lower NOx.

A water cooled sealing ring eliminates cold

induced air around the burner, increasing

efficiency, minimizing NOx as well as pro-

longing nozzle and burner block life. When

the sealing ring is used, the WRASP-DI

burner does not require any compressed

air for cooling.

Primefire 100 Burners

The industry standard for oxygen-fuel burners

Bulletin 1120C 8/06 Litho in USA

As shown in Figure 1, the Primefire® 100

burner has multiple range capabilities. The

adjustable control on the burner allows

variation in flame coverage to suit melter

size and temperature profile. The higher

firing range burner can be used in float

glass furnaces. Many major float compa-

nies have used the Primefire® 100 suc-

cessfully for up to a five percent increase

in overall production.

As shown in Figure 2, the Primefire® 100

burner is used in all segments of the glass

industry. Applications for the burner have

also been found in other high temperature

furnaces such as copper and frit melting.

The Primefire® 100 burner is also in high

demand in areas of the world where

heavy fuels are commonly used.

Additionally, the burner is well suited for

dual fuel applications.

Eclipse Primefire 300BURNERS

The Primefire® 300 burner isa quantum leap in flameluminosity and glass bathcoverage, providing:

• Greater flexibility.

• Dual fuel capacity.

• Increased melter efficiency.

• Improved refractory life.

• Reduced melting cost.

Fish-Tail or Fan-Shaped Flame

In addition to providing increased load

coverage, the Primefire® 300 burner

provides uniform heat distribution that

improves product quality, throughput,

and extends furnace refractory life.

Increased Flame Radiation

In the visible light spectrum (500 to

2000 nanometers range), the Primefire®

300 burner will improve radiative heat

transmission for the glass melting appli-

cation and improve furnace efficiency.

Adjustable Flame Shape

An adjusting mechanism on the burner

allows you to change the flame shape

(overall length and width) to suit the

melter width and the required tempera-

ture profile.

Extremely Low Mixing Ratesof Oxygen and Fuel Streams

The Primefire® 300 burner creates a

low momentum flame which has a

lower peak flame temperature. This

should result in lower operating crown

temperatures and lower volatile trans-

port rates.

Multi-Fuel Capability

The same burner can fire natural gas or

light/heavy fuel oil.

The adjustable Primefire® 300 (Fish-Tail)

burner is available in three capacity

ranges:

• 0.50 to 2.00 MM Btu/Hr

• 1.00 to 4.00 MM Btu/Hr

• 2.00 to 8.00 MM Btu/Hr

Primefire 300 Burners

A quantum leap in flame luminosity and coverage

Bulletin 1130C 4/04 Litho in USA

As shown in Figure 1, the Primefire® 300

Fish-Tail burner spreads the flame signifi-

cantly over the melting surface. The

adjustable control on the burner allows

variation in flame coverage to suit melter

size and temperature profile. This would

result in better temperature uniformity,

reduced peak flame temperatures, and

elimination of hot spots.

As shown in Figure 2, most of the radia-

tive heat flux gain is from increased visi-

ble wavelength radiation which would be

beneficial in improved transmittance

through the glass and the reduction of

scum and foam.

Gas pre-heating increases luminosity and heat transfer while significantly lowering NOx formation.

The Primefire 400 burner represents

an evolution in the Eclipse burner

design. Built upon our industry prov-

en Oxy-Fuel Flat Flame Burner, the

Primefire 400 is designed to

significantly reduce NOx emissions

over comparable burners, while fit-

ting into existing control schemes.

Higher Flame Luminosity

The Primefire 400 burner achieves

these improved results by using a

form of gas pre-heating. By injecting

a small amount of oxygen into the

gas stream prior to the main com-

bustion process, the gas will actually

begin to “crack”, releasing greater

amounts of carbon. This carbon,

which is consumed in the main com-

bustion process, increases the lumi-

nosity of the flame. Since luminosity

has a tremendous impact on heat

transfer, the burner considerably

improves heat transfer and fuel

efficiency.

Lower Thermal NOx

While luminosity and heat transfer

are enhanced in the Primefire 400,

NOx production decreases. This is

due to the effect the carbon has on

the flame temperature. Since the

gas is being cracked out in two

distinct areas of combustion, the over-

all flame temperature decreases. This

noticeably reduces thermal NOx.

Luminosity increases by 20 to 30 percent

over comparable flat flame burners, while

NOx decreases by up to 18 percent.

Flame geometry and flame length are

also comparable with existing flat flame

burners, so no changes in furnace design

are needed to use the Primefire 400.

The Primefire 400 comes in four sizes

with maximum capacities of 2MM,

4MM, 10MM and 20MM Btu/hr. All

models are capable of 4:1 turndown and

can be fired using natural gas or fuel oil.

Underport Oil Firing System

Underport firing allows a high

degree of flame coverage of

the melt using multiple burners

mounted beneath the port

sill, providing easy access for

adjustment and maintenance.

Underport firing gives both high

thermal efficiency and high melt

rates with a variety of liquid fuels.

Using the burner block sealing

system, with internal low pressure

air cooling, and careful selection

of burner system and port design,

low levels of NOx are achievable.

Use of the Eclipse burner

support bracket ensures accurate

repeatable burner location, simple

adjustment and quick removal of

burner, all of which are essential

for an efficent underport burner

system.

watercooled throughport burners. The

mechanism is intended for installa-

tion under the ports with the burners

inserted through holes in the bot-

tom of the port. Each mechanism is

designed to operate in a hot dusty

environment for long periods with

minimum maintenance.

ensuring repeatable firing for long

periods of time. This results in higher

glass quality and improved ther-

mal efficiency. The recommended

burner cleaning interval is one month,

although experience shows longer

intervals are possible.

A single pneumatic cylinder is used

to operate the mechanism. A special

pneumatic cylinder and burner car-

riage bearing system ensures perfect

alignment without the need for set-up

or adjustment. Each mechanism is fit-

ted with safety shut-off valves for fuel

and atomizing medium to ensure that

the fuel can only be supplied to the

burners when they are in the correct

location.

Training

Human error has long been known to be the

leading cause of industrial and combustion-

related accidents. Most industrial sites have

personnel that are not adequately trained in

the safe start-up/shutdown of combustion

equipment, daily operations, or proper

testing and maintenance. The risks of

explosions, fires, business interruptions and even loss of life can be minimized

if personnel are taught the basics of boiler and fuel-fired equipment safety. The

recognition of unsafe conditions can enhance the safety and efficiency of your

operations.

CEC Combustion Safety addresses this need by providing comprehensive

combustion safety training services. CEC’s expert staff of professional trainers

has educated thousands of people including managers, operators, skilled

trades, and risk/insurance personnel throughout the world. Courses can be

customized to include demonstration equipment, simulators, learning labs, and

equipment-specific presentations.

Safety audits can be easily scheduled as a one time visit or can be

contracted for prepaid semiannual or annual visits. Multiple year

programs are available and offer a cost savings over individual one

time visits or single year contracts.

Scheduling of audits is based on customer needs and schedules.

Safety Audits

Combustion systems are designed for safe

operation. However, fuel burning equipment

can pose serious dangers if not properly

equipped and maintained. Flame sensing

devices, safety limit controls, and automatic

fuel shut-off valves should be inspected

regularly to ensure safe operation of your

combustion system.

In addition, Eclipse recommends that combus-

tion systems be inspected on a regular basis

to determine compliance with current safety

standards. Within the U.S., Eclipse Global

Services routinely performs safety audits to

the NFPA86 Standard for Ovens and Furnaces

as published by the National Fire Protection

Association. Safety audits can also be per-

formed to GE GAP (formerly Industrial Risk

Insurers) or other insurance underwriter

requirements as requested. Within Canada,

safety audits are performed to CSA B-

149.3MOO.

Eclipse trained Field Service Technicians are

available to conduct a thorough systematic

inspection of the safety related features and

functions of your combustion system at your

convenience. Resulting data is recorded and

reviewed with the customer.
