Autumn 2015
ECL celebrates
In our summer newsletter we had a picture of a
wedding on the front page. And now here’s another
happy love story for you! Hayley and Michael have been regular members of
ECL for many years.
They first knew each other at Walton Leigh School.
A few months after leaving school, they met each
other again and romance blossomed.
They’ve now been together for thirteen wonderful
years. To celebrate their anniversary, Michael bought
Hayley the lovely butterfly balloon in this picture.
Congratulations Hayley and Michael – here’s to many
more happy years together!

Friendly faces
On Wednesday mornings, we run our
ECL community café mornings. This is
a great chance for members to meet
their friends and have a chat, or talk to
a volunteer about any issues they have.
If you’d like to come along and meet
some new people, we’d love to see you!
The community café is at Walton
Methodist Church from 10-12am.

Who’s got the X Factor?
Move over Simon Cowell…ECL and Mencap
have got the X Factor! On Wednesday 11th
November we held our annual X Factor
competition. All the acts were brilliant -
Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Jan Fuller,
Emma (Mencap volunteer), our very own
Pauline and Rob Moran, CEO of Elmbridge
Borough Council, had a hard time picking
the winners!
Autumn at Art & Craft
In our Art & Craft sessions on Wednesday afternoons,
we’ve been painting lovely autumn pictures taking
inspiration from nature.
Let’s use it again!
We’ve also been learning about recycling and how
important it is. Here are some of our members painting
cherry blossom using old plastic bottles dipped in paint.
ECL’s AGM
On Monday 19th October we had our Annual General Meeting. Members and friends of ECL came, including the Mayor Councillor Jan Fuller and Consort John Caton. Llinos showed some great slides with pictures of all our members. After the slide show we played bingo. The Mayor and Consort really enjoyed themselves!

Doodling away
At our iPad instruction sessions on
Wednesday afternoons, we’ve been
working with
the Doodle Lite
app, which lets
you draw
pictures –
here’s ECL
member Chris
with his work.
