    MHD 535 Earth Connecting Box ECB 535

    The Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 is a connection and filter module with additional lightning protectors . Whereas the Protection and Filter Module PFM 535 is designed to protect the sensor cable, the Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 is designed to protect the Processor Unit PU and therefore hasto be installed in its vicinity. To cope with increased electromagnetic interferences (EMI), an Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 is inserted in theconnecting cable CCA 535 after the Processor Unit PU .

    Notice

    An Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 must be used in all VdS-compliant installations.

    In addition to the sensor cable, the connected Processor Unit PU can also be protected against voltage peaks which are coupled via the power

    input lines. A separate connection with a side cable entry is therefore provided.

    Construction of the Earth Connecting Box ECB 535

    The Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 comprises a plastic enclosure made of glass fiber reinforced polyester containing the electronic componentsfor the protection of the Processor Unit PU . The printed circuit board features a f lat-ribbon connector for the direct connection of the sensor cable,and in addition a seven-pole plug-in terminal for connecting the sensor cable via a connecting cable. Additional lightning protection elementsare integrated in the Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 .

    In addition to the sensor cable, the connected Processor Unit PU can also be protected against voltage peaks which are coupled via the supply

    input voltage lines. A separate connection with a side cable entry is therefore provided.

    The connection of the Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 to the ground potential must have good conductivity and use connections that are as shortas possible.

    The Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 can be mounted on the X, Y or Z axis.

    The Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 should be placed immediately next to the Processor Unit PU .

    Fastening the Earth Connecting Box ECB 535

    The Earth Connecting Box ECB 535 is fastened using 4 screws. When mounting on cement or masonry in tunnel applications, special nail anchorsCMS 511 with stainless steel V4A screws (5/15x35) should be used. A minimum distance of 15 cm from parts on site (control cabinets,alcoves etc.) should be kept on the entry side of the sensor cable.

    Safety Notice

    For protection against humidity, the enclosed desiccant bag should be left inside the Earth Connecting Box ECB535 .
