The company CEO calls to check on all delayed sales orders, and see what can

be done so the company can meet the numbers for this quarter which ends infew days.

As an Order Fulfillment Manager or Warehouse Manager, it is important tounderstand any fulfillment delays and why the delays are occurring. These

delays can be caused by a number of factors, such as, supplier ormanufacturing delays, warehouse capacity or shipping issues.

Using Endeca for Sales Orders, we can drill into the highest number offulfillment days, and the manager can determine that a very large order for a

high priority customer, Department of Defense, is delayed. Manufacturing needsto fulfill this order.

We start by filtering by order date




We further filter by fulfillmentdelays of a range of days




We then sort by Order Amount to view

the highest value orders first




By clicking on the order numberwe can drill to the order details




Here we see the customer and item and ask manufacturingto make sure it ships on time




Hearing from sales that an order for a key customer is critical to making our

goal, using Endeca for Discrete Manufacturing we quickly search for thatcustomer's work order and see that it has a component shortage that couldcause a delay.

Using Endeca Product Master we can compare the component and it's

substitutes and see we have availability of one of the substitutes. We can issuethe substitute and deliver the product on time.

We can now inform the CEO that this larger Order will be fulfilled so we canmeet the numbers for this quarter.

Manufacturing and Inventory Demo




We come to the Endeca Discrete Work Order Search andtype the customer name (Department of Defense) into the

search region.




Since the tag cloud indicates a component shortage we check theshortage tab of the Work Order Overview region and see we’re short theCM13139 but an approved substitute has been defined. Now we want tocheck the availability.




From our Favorites list we navigate to theEndeca Item Search




Here we quickly reduce the search results bynarrowing our search to 80GB drives, the componentwe’re short




Three items meet our search criteria, we selectthem all and click compare




Making the original component our baseline we highlight the differencesand we can see we have plenty of the substitute item available




From our Favorites list we navigate back to the Endeca DiscreteWork Order Search




We highlight the operation tab and click the View Work Contentlink in order to launch our Discrete MES Workstation




From the MES Workstation we click the UpdateExceptions action




We send a message to the operator telling him to use thesubstitute component and resolve the exception
