Nuclear • Level 1 : Atomic Bombs
An investigation into how, when and why the atomic bomb was created and then dropped on
Japan. Was it the right thing to do? Did the creators have regrets after killing over 200,000
people in a single moment?
• Level 2 : Japan and Nuclear
The 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan significantly changed the country's attitude
towards nuclear energy and programmes. Is Japan going to make changes to its energy
policies in the wake of the disaster and subsequent protests?
• Level 3 : Nuclear Power
Nuclear power is increasingly popular in the world, but it is also increasingly controversial.
The greener, renewable alternatives are considered along with an in-depth explanation of the
use and creation of nuclear power.
• Level 4 : The Wrong Hands
Nuclear weapons have been developed for decades and there are now multiple agreements
between countries about the use and possession of these. North Korea is becoming
increasingly volatile and threatening the use and development of weapons; can nuclear
weapons fall into 'the wrong hands' and who decides that they have?
• Level 5 : Nuclear Disarmament
How do countries dispose of their nuclear weapons if they don't trust other countries to do
the same? How great a threat is there in a world of political instability?
• Level 6 : Armed and Dangerous
Despite agreements between countries regarding the use of nuclear energy and nuclear
weapons, there are still many arguments between what is and is not acceptable use of
nuclear technology. What are the implications, for example, if Iran has nuclear weapons?
