SCORING DEFENSE•EasternIllinoisentersthisweekrankedsixth nationally in scoring defense asthe Panthers allowed just six points toIllinoisStatelastweek.Thegamemarkedthe 8th time since the 2005 season thatthe Panthers have held an opponent to atouchdownorlessinagame.

InadditionPotempa linesupasakickreturnerandmadeonereturnforfouryardsagainsttheRedbirds.

COOk REtURNS tO FORM•KevinCookappearstohavereturnedtohisformfromhisfreshmanseasonwhenheset theschoolrecordforpuntingaverageat 44.6 yards per kick. OnThursday heaveraged 51 yards on two punts andwouldranksecondinthenationifhehadenough attempts. In his career againstIndiana State, Cook has only had threepuntattemptswithallofthemcominglastseason.In2007,EIUdidnotpuntfortheentiregameagainsttheSycamores.

HAYNES A SHUt DOWN CORNER• Rashad Haynes has quickly developedinto one of the top corners in the OhioValley Conference and he showed whyagainst Illinois State. Haynes finishedwithfivetacklesmakingthreesolostops.He also was credited with a pass break-upgivinghim15forhiscareer. Haynescurrently ranks sixth among FCS activeplayersininterceptionswithhisninepickscurrently tied for 9th on the EIU careerlist.
