Vážení čtenáři,letos máme v dubnu Velikonoce, svátky jara a znovuzrození, a tak i dubnový Jump voní kytičkami a novým životem.

10). U nás je v kinech dokonce dřív než v USA!

Seasonal allergiesSeasonal allergies are also called “hay fever1.” In spring, trees, grass and flowers grow2. The air is full of their pollen3. You can get a daily pollen forecast4 on the radio, the internet and in newspapers. The forecast says what type of pollen is in the air. If you are allergic to pollen, you may feel really bad. Mould5 that grows after spring rains can also make allergies worse6.

Easter is an important1 Christian2 holiday. Christians celebrate3 the Easter story:

Jesus died and then came back

to life. Easter is also a celebration

of spring and new life.

What do people do at Easter?

In many countries, people paint and decorate eggshells5 or hardboiled6

eggs. People give each other eggs, look for7 eggs in the garden or roll eggs down a hill. The White House Easter Egg Roll is a fun tradition in the USA.

Pouring8 water on each other is an Easter tradition in Poland. In the Czech Republic, boys hit women with a willow whip9. The whips are handmade and it’s said they make the girls healthy10!

Fun facts about bunnies The Easter Bunny idea comes from Germany. 90 million chocolate Easter bunnies are made each year.

Most people eat the bunny’s ears first.

H O L I D A Y S

When is Easter?Easter is not on the same day every year. Easter is always celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon4 in the spring. This means it is in late March or April.

What are the Easter symbols?Popular Easter symbols are the cross, eggs, rabbits, lambs, chicks, Easter flowers, baskets, nests and various Easter cakes and candy.

In spring new life begins1 and many animals have cute2 babies. They often have special names. Do you know the words for baby animals? Read the story.

What am I?It’s a beautiful spring day. A little yellow chick is very happy. It’s jumping and hopping3 in the green grass. Wow! There is something in the grass! It’s a very good breakfast – a nice fresh worm4. The chick grabs5 the worm and eats it. Yum!

An hour later the chick is tired6. It sees a big cat sleeping under a tree. The cat looks very comfortable7. The chick wants to sleep, too. “Cats love love sleeping. I love sleeping, too. The chick is sad. “I’m not a kitten. But what am I?” The chick sees a sheep. It is eating some grass. “Am I a baby sheep?” the chick asks. The sheep laughs. “No, silly. You aren’t a lamb. You are yellow. Look. I have two white lambs.”

The chick hops to the garden. A dog is eating a bone9. “Hello, dog. Am I a baby dog?” “No, silly. You aren’t a puppy. You are very small. Look, I have five big puppies.”

The chick is still sad. “I’m not a kitten. I’m not a lamb. I’m not a puppy. What am I?”
