December 2011
The season of Christmas is upon us. So first let me wish everyone a very merry Christ-
mas. Let’s all make sure that we do not let the main focus of Christmas get lost in the shopping,
cooking, and hustle and bustle of the season.
The recent events in our nation, on black Friday, points out the reason that Jesus came to
earth. During shopping on the day after Thanksgiving, there were people who pepper sprayed
other shoppers, at least one was shot, many were trampled, all for the sake of a bargain. One was
over a gift that cost only a few dollars, one over a video game player.
I love to focus on the positive and avoid the negative but these examples seem to cry out
for attention. I would be amiss if I only glossed over them and talked about the great sweet spirit that we have at
Christmas and how everyone seems to get along better. This is certainly true in a lot of circles but the nature of man-
kind comes percolating out at times. That is the exact reason that Jesus came, not for the sweet side of man who some-
times acts right but for the other ugly side, the greedy side, the side that pushes everything and everybody out of the
way. Jesus came to seek and to save everyone.
The story of the Baby Jesus in the manger is one of the favorite stories of the Bible, if not the most favorite.
God stepped out of heaven, wrapped Himself in the flesh of human kind and was born in the stable. That is the good
news. The bad news is that there are literally millions who ignore their need of this Savior. They push and shove their
way through life and grab what they can. Still I am again reminded that it is for those, unfortunately
that includes all of mankind to varied degree, that Jesus came to die. I have heard it said, Jesus is the
Reason for the Season. This is certainly true but the reason that He had to come was fallen humanity
so in that sense, we are the reason for the season.

East Union Baptist Church October 2011 Account Summary
Treasurers Report
The holidays are here and I know you have got better things to do than read a long letter. Just a couple of things that
you may have an interest in hearing about.
One is that we are in the middle of putting together a budget for 2012. It will be painless again this year. We will be
mailing it out to every family so you can review before the Dec. business meeting when we vote on it.
The last thing is our Chest of Joash debt retirement on homecoming Sunday. We received a little over $2700.00 and
more has come in since then. God will bless every gift and giver.
I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and we wish you a very Merry Christmas
We all have much to be Thankful for.

Happy Birthday and
Anniversary
East Union Goal $2500.
Dear EUBC Friends:
December is an exciting month for our children at
EUCC. The children are so excited about Santa
Claus and all the events associated with Christmas.
Our theme this month focuses on Jesus' birth.
The preschoolers will begin to understand the rea-
son we celebrate Christmas and the many tradi-
tions that are associated with it. They will learn
that Jesus came to Earth so that we could all be-
lieve in Him.
The infants and toddlers will hear Christmas music
and stories.
EUCC will be closed on December 23rd, and 26th.
Please pray for our children, their families, and
staff that are part of the daycare ministry.
Merry Christmas!!!

Plant a little seed.
Grow a Big faith.
Jesus told about a sower who
planted a seed that yielded a hundred-fold har-
vest. The SEED in His story is the Word of God.
Living and powerful. Whether you choose to at-
tend one SEED or all of them, God’s Word is ca-
pable of producing an astounding harvest in your
life.
Feeling depleted? Running on empty? Wonder-
ing if you will ever have enough? There’s a
SEED for that. SEED 02 enough—November
30, 9:30 am.
Finding it challenging to follow when someone
else is in control? There’s a SEED for that.
SEED 03 control—December 7, 9:30 am.
Ready to combat the enemy’s attacks with your
God-given spiritual armor? There’s a Seed for
that. SEED 04 armor—December 14, 9:30 am.
Unhealthy cycles or habits keeping you from liv-
ing victoriously? There’s a SEED for that. SEED
05 five—December 21, 9:30 am.
Having trouble seeing God’s presence in the daily
details of your life? Looking for a glimpse of His
glory? There is a SEED for that. SEED 06

As 2011 draws to a near we can
look back and begin to asses what
we have accomplished. Did we have
as great an impact on each other as
we though we would? Did we have
as great an impact on our commu-
nity as we thought we would? What
did we accomplish for the Gospel?
For Christ? For His Kingdom? I hope and pray as
a church we can answer these questions with con-
fidence, knowing that the driving force behind all
our interactions was directed towards fulfilling
these goals.
I simply want to thank all those who helped or
participated in any way with the children and
youth ministries this year. I know that what was
accomplished was not done through my ingenuity,
but through your love for Christ and willingness
to serve him. I look forward to serving you and
serving with you in 2012.
Blessings and Merry Christmas,
Michael Brooks
Upcoming Youth Events:
Christmas Party and Bonfire – December 17, 6-8
pm.
Upcoming Children Events:
Christmas Musical – December 11
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in a stable. His mom and two dads were there. Jesus grew up just like all of our clubbers. He learned God's word and hid it in His heart. He used it against the devil. He reminded everyone how important it is to know God's word. Clubbers and moms and dads, use this holiday break from Awana to get some quality time in God's word. Read the story of Jesus birth and talk about what it means to your family. January 8th will be our first Awana night after the holi-days. Our theme will be faith factor. Get ready, it's coming. Hope everyone has a won-derful Christmas, Jimmy & Doris
Brotherhood News
The Brotherhood of East Union Baptist Church needs
two things. 1. Men ready to serve our church and com-
munity. 2. Projects that REAL Men can tackle.
Men, come join us in January to plan out our new year.
Come with ministry projects or ideas. Come with a ser-
vant heart. Come to reach out to our needy world. Then
we will GO and do God's work. Members of East Un-
ion, do you have a project we can help with? We will be
available even before the new year starts. Let Jimmy
Price or Emmet Dodd know if you know of a need and
we will try to round up a group of REAL Men to take
care of it. Men, our meeting will be January 18th, third
Wednesday, 7:00 in Vonnie Wiggin's Sunday School
Class. Come join us.
