Selected Administrative Accomplishments
Program Development
Co-founder and Co-Director of the Institute for Public Health Research and Innovation. Founded
first Center at ESU in 15 years and serve as its inaugural co-director. The Institute brings together
researchers from regional academic centers, medical centers and the pharmaceutical industry to carry
out applied research. The institute is externally funded through grants and contracts currently totaling
$1.5 million.
Design and implementation of the “Fitness Assessment & Sport Testing” (FAST) Academy. This
center allows students working with faculty the opportunity to provide clinical services to members of
the community, that gives both students and faculty practice-based experience, and opportunities for
research and provides the department a source of revenue.

Funded and created three new positions within the College of Health Sciences. Using external grant funds
created the College’s first Assistant Dean Position, to assist Dean in the development of new strategic programs,
a student outreach position with the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley, this is a graduate assistant position to
help manage community-based internship opportunities for students, and identified internal resources to create a
College-wide clinical internship compliance coordinator.

Health Science (DHSc); developed two Bachelor of Science programs in Health Services Administration and
Public Health; a Speech Pathology graduate preparation program; and three certificate programs in Public Health,
Health Coaching and Human Performance Coaching.
Development of five new degree completion programs for returning adults. These programs include three
off-campus degree completion programs for returning adults in public health, and two accelerated RN to BSN
programs at a regional Community College and a second at a regional hospital.

affiliation agreements with the Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic and the Universidad
IberoAmericana in Costa Rica, and sponsors an annual for credit course at the graduate and undergraduate level
for all students interested in global health issues. Over 140 students have participated.

Chair, Academic Strategic Plan Steering Group. Appointed by president as Chair of the Academic Strategic
Plan. Working with faculty from five different colleges engaged in a seven month process of seeking input from
constituencies across the university and the community at large. The final plan “ESU Academics: More than a
Classroom” sets out nineteen synergistic strategies across the University’s four strategic goals. Within six months
the three strategic initiatives have been implemented the development of an academic council of chairs, a
streamlined curricular process and a decentralization of the graduate college which has increased enrollment by
15% in one year.
Chair, University Summer Program. Appointed by provost as chair of the summer/winter session
implementation committee. The committee working with four different college Deans was responsible for
developing new policies and practices for scheduling, recruitment and staffing of the summer and winter terms.

cancellation policy was implemented and the university’s first revenue-sharing model with academic departments
was approved.

and faculty experiences including a Human Anatomy and Physiology course for Health Professions, and a newly
created general education course on health and wellness that is taught by faculty across all six departments.
Led the development of a College of Health Sciences Advising model. Worked with chairs and assistant dean
to design an advising model that identifies academic and community milestones students could reach through
their four years to better guide them toward degree completion and graduation.
University’s Service-Learning Program. As vice-provost I oversaw the office of undergraduate programs
which coordinated the University’s Service-Learning Program which developed 16,500 service learning hours per
year in 60 community organizations.
Faculty Development and Support
Junior Faculty Research Funds. Worked with provost to create and award the university’s first seed money
funds for new faculty to initiate their lines of research.
Faculty recruitment and retention. As Department Chair and College Dean I coordinate faculty recruitment,
hiring, workload and tenure and promotion process for more than 150 faculty. I have been successful in attaining
the recruitment of 95% of the department’s and college’s faculty and have increased the Colleges faculty
complement by 10% over the last five years.
