Matches to be played on one date at a neutral venue
Clubs entering will be put into clusters
Each match will be given a venue in their cluster, not the home club
of either of the two teams
Participating clubs to give 30mins at week end to facilitate neutral
venues
Team captains agree a date and club at top of the draw will book the
tee time in the host club

– Other entry criteria has been changed
– 2% increase in the number of girls registered

Must have competed in 3 qualifying competitions in the previous year in
your home club
1st March handicap eligibility no longer applicable
Shots will be conceded in the higher handicap categories, not lower.

HP AND INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Leona Maguire retained world number one spot for the second consecutive year and won the Smyth Salver Trophy after finishing the RICOH Women’s British Open as the top ranked amateur
Leona and Stephanie Meadow competed in golfs’ return to the Olympics Games
Leona Maguire (Slieve Russell), Olivia Mehaffey (RCDL) and Annabel Wilson (Lurgan) secured a bronze medal at the World Amateur Team Championships
GB&I won the 39th Curtis Cup. Leona Maguire, Olivia Mehaffey and Maria Dunne contributed hugely to the GB&I win over the United States
Irish Girls won the Home Internationals for the first time in history
Irish Seniors Team Crowned European Team Champions
Laura Webb won the British Senior Ladies Open Amateur Stroke Play.

2014 - 54 projects, 1,394 participants, converting 705 to membership.
2015 - 59 projects, 1,177 participants, converting 815 to membership.
2016 - 100 projects, 3,417 participants, converting 1,925 to membership

Awareness days delivered in schools, colleges and golf/non-related golf events/festivals
26,905 people (80% juniors) have received their first taste of golf though these awareness days since 2014

SAFEGUARDING
Since 2014, 556 people have attended Safeguarding 1 – Basic Awareness
Courses across the country
1,418 people have been vetted through Garda Vetting or Access NI
In the coming weeks, a letter will be issued to all clubs in relation to Child

12 pilot programmes in 2016
Main focus on the retention of
existing girls in clubs

programme and completed a stage
relevant to their ability.

ONE GOVERNING BODY FOR GOLF IN IRELAND
ILGU and the GUI discussing the potential formation of One Governing Body (OGB) for Golf in Ireland
OGB Discussion Group held consultation sessions with a number of members and Union representatives earlier this year and received overwhelming support
A number of work groups have now been formed in the areas of Future Club Formation, Finance, Organisational Structure and Communication etc.
DG members liaise closely with these work groups and are planning on a second round of consultation with Clubs and Members in early 2017.
