Semester 1 Reports Student reports will be sent home in Week 10 this term. These comprehensive reports will provide parents with a solid understanding of their child’s academic progress so far this year. Please take the time to read these reports and the comments made by teachers thoroughly and discuss them with your child. Emailing of reports will be the preferred method of delivery and will be sent according to the parent email address that we have on our system. Parents are reminded that they will receive a link to their child’s report which will remain active for four weeks only. It is highly recommended that parents save an electronic copy of reports for future reference. By demonstrating responsible behaviours parents can contribute to their child’s personal growth and development. In the classroom and playground, staff at our school do not accept swearing from children. To assist us in upholding the values of our school, we ask that parents reinforce with their child the need to show respect to others by speaking politely and refrain from using foul language. Thank you also to the parents and families who assisted in the Year 6 Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser at Bunnings Malaga last Saturday. This was a very successful event and all funds raised will go towards senior school activities. If your child requires medication, please ensure that you visit the office to fill out the relevant paperwork and provide us with sufficient supply of the medicine. We are unable to administer medication until these forms have been completed and signed. Our school does not keep a stock of general medications (eg Panadol, Nurofen or antihistamines) to administer to students. Seasons for Growth® Program

Off to a great start

Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming response to our Seasons for Growth Program. Unfortunately, we are only able to run two small groups which has made deciding who attends the sessions very difficult. If your child has not been selected on this occasion, we are hoping to run the program again next year. However, if you feel, that your child needs support in dealing with grief and loss in the meantime, please let me know and I can look at supporting your child in other ways.

Mrs Burgoyne (Chaplain)

Thank you to our fantastic P&C for organising the Mother’s Day Stall for our students and to the families who generously donated items. This year was the largest stall we have had due to the incredible number of donations we received. Our students were very spoiled for choice and we hope that all the mothers in our community enjoyed their special day.

Bike Riding Safety For the safety of all our community, students who ride their bikes to and from school are reminded that: It is compulsory by law to wear a helmet Cyclists of all ages may ride on footpaths in WA, unless otherwise signed. Cyclists must ride in single file on footpaths. Pedestrians, including mobility scooters and motorised wheelchair users, always have right of way. Cyclists should use their bell to alert other shared path users that a bicycle is approaching. Cyclists should use their bell to alert pedestrians/mobility scooter operators/motorised wheelchair users that a bicycle is

approaching. Drivers must give way to cyclists at driveways, but cyclists should slow down to ensure they have been seen. Animals and children on footpaths can be unpredictable. Cyclists should slow and cycle to the conditions.

With winter approaching, it is important to ride according to the weather conditions: Monitor your speed, as riding too fast can put you and others at risk. In wet weather, slow down around corners and allow enough distance to brake. If overtaking pedestrians or other cyclists leave a safe distance and enough time to pass

Parents are encouraged to reinforce road safety with their child, whether they walk or ride to school.

Andrew Stewart Awards are presented to students in recognition of
