Science Skills

What is science?

Science is the process of observing, studying, and thinking about things to gain knowledge to better understand the world.

Every time you try to find out how and why things look and behave the way they do, you are performing science!

Earth Science

Earth Science is the study of the Earth and space.

Rules of Graphing

1. Use a ruler2. Use a pencil (and colored pencils if needed)3. Title your graph and label both axes4. Print TITLE and LABELS in BLOCK letter

(capital)5. Underline your TITLE and LABELS with

ruler.6. Labels that have units should indicate the

units in parentheses. Ex: TIME (s)7. Graphs should fill the space given. Space

units evenly and accordingly.

9. Use a bar graph to compare different things.10. Use a line graph to show progressive

change (ex. Change through time)11. Put the variable you manipulate (the

independent variable) on the X-axis.12. Put the variable you measure (the

dependent variable) on the Y-axis.
