The Early Childhood Program-wide PBIS Benchmarks of Quality is now available on PBIS Assessment. The EC BoQ is an annual assessment of PBIS Implementation for Early Childhood Settings.

EC BoQ is an annual assessment. Teams and coaches can complete the form together. One team score is entered into PBIS Assessment. Once the scores are entered, reports can be generated. The Total Score, Subscale Score and Items Reports are used for data based decision making.

The Local PBIS Assessment Coordinator opens a survey window for the schools taking the EC BoQ. Teams are given the access code so that the results can be entered directly into PBIS Assessment. Teams can download a hard copy of the EC BoQ to use as they are scoring the assessment, or they can read through the online survey as they complete it.

The EC BoQ is divided into nine sections or subscales.

To enter the EC BoQ online, the coordinator/coach and or team first goes to the PBIS Assessment website. To log into the school account, enter the school’s ID number. This number can be found in the Local Coordinator’s PBIS Assessment Account (under BoQ or SET on the Dashboard). Once the school logs in, the school’s dashboard will open, which will list the Open, Upcoming and Closed surveys for the school. To Launch the survye, click on the arrow icon on the far right under “Actions”.
• Enter the date the survey is completed and click on the gray arrow:
At the end of each section, click on the gray arrow to move to the next page.

The first step in entering the survey is entering the date that the survey is completed. The date defaults to today’s date. If that is correct, click on the date in the calendar, and the date will populate in the section below. If the survey was completed prior to today’s date, click on another date in the month, or use the arrows to go back to previous months to enter the date.
Entering the Survey Online
Select: 0= Not In Place, 1= Partially in Place, or 2= In Place

Once the date is entered, the survey will start with the first section: Establish Leadership Team. For each of the items, the team will decide if the time is In Place, Partially In Place or Not In Place. Click on the button to indicate whether the item receives a “0, 1 or 2” score.

F. All Classrooms Demonstrate the Adoption of the “Teaching Pyramid”

The Teaching Pyramid is covered in items 22-27. The Resources section of the PBIS Assessment website includes an article by Lise Fox, Glen Dunlap, Mary Louise Hemmeter, Gail Joseph and Phillip Strain which describes the Teaching Pyramid Model.
G. Procedures for Responding to Challenging Behavior

The next subscale is Procedures for Responding the Challenging Behavior. Six items are included in this subscale which outline processes and systems necessary for assisting students with challenging behaviors.
H. Staff Support

Staff Support includes 7 items. The seven items provide information on how the school/setting is providing support and training to staff members.
I. Monitoring Implementation and Outcomes

The last subscale focuses on Monitoring Implementation and Outcomes, and using the information for data-based decision making. Six items are included in this subscale.
Submit the Survey
At the end of the survey, click on
Submit Survey. You’ll receive a confirmation
when it’s been submitted.

Click on the right gray arrow to submit the survey once it is completed. After it is submitted, a notice will appear letting you know that the survey has been submitted successfully.
Viewing Reports • Once the survey has been submitted, the following
reports will be available: o Total Score o Subscale o Items o Download
• The reports can be used for Action Planning and Data Based Decision Making

The reports are available after the survey has been submitted. For the EC BoQ, there are 4 reports available: The Total Score, Subscale Score, Items and Download. The Download is an excel file with the submitted information. The reports are then used for action planning and data based decision making.
How to View Reports Click on Early Childhood
Program-Wide Benchmarks of Quality under Reports.
Click on either the Total Score or the gray arrow to view the report.

In PBIS Assessment, there are several ways to view reports. From the Dashboard, you select Reports and choose the EC BoQ. Click on the Total Score or gray arrow to access the report.
The Report type will default to Total Score, select the date range and click Display.
To view the Subscale, Items or Download Reports, use the gray arrow to select the report, and then click on Display.

The report type will default to the report you have chosen. From this screen, you are also able to select the other available reports.
Total Score Report The Total Score provides the percentage of items that were scored as “In Place”.

The Total Score report provides a graph and table showing the percentage of items that were scored as “In Place”. 80% or above is considered implementing with fidelity.
Subscale Report
The Subscale report provides the percentage of items that were scored as “In Place” in each of the subscales of the EC BoQ.

The Subscale score report provides detailed information about each of the sections or subscales of the EC BoQ. Each bar shows the percentage of items that were scored as “In Place” within that subscale. This report can assist teams in assessing progress and making decisions about next steps for training.
Items
The Items Report provides information on how each item was scored.

The items report shows how each item was entered in PBIS Assessment. If the Coordinator or Team finds an error in how the data was entered, the Coordinate contacts [email protected] to have the items edited.
Exporting and Printing Each report can be exported as either a pdf or excel file. Choose either PDF or Excel/CSV. Click on Display and the report will be available.

On the left hand panel, open the export section. Click on either pdf or excel to display and print reports.
Using the Data for Decision Making
• Each of the reports provides information for decision making:
• Total Score: o Are we making progress? Are we moving toward implementation of 80%
or above?
• Subscale Score: o How are we scored on each subscale? Which are we making progress on
and want to celebrate? Which do we need to provide more training on?
• Item Score: o How did we score each item? Are there certain items that we want to
pay particular attention to?
