Dear Earl of March Parents,

We are very excited this year to be able to offer a trip of skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing at Calabogie Peaks ski resort to the grade 7 students of Earl of March. Our third annual Intermediate Winter Activity Days will run on Friday, January 19th and Friday, February 23rd.

Our goal for the Winter Activity program is to achieve 100% participation and we are pleased to offer two days of skiing/snowboarding or snowshoeing to the grade 7 classes. That being said, we understand and acknowledge that not everyone is comfortable being on skis. We are encouraging students & staff to try something new where we are promoting healthy lifestyle. Qualified instructors and guides will provide lessons for all participants. We want to see every student enjoying outdoor physical activity where no-one stays behind at school. A snowshoeing option is available for those students that are apprehensive about downhill skiing or snowboarding.

As your children’s safety is our paramount concern, all students participating in skiing or snowboarding will be required to wear a helmet. This must be an approved ski or snowboard helmet (bicycle or hockey helmets are not acceptable). Helmets are available to rent for a nominal cost at the ski hill and are included with the rental of the equipment. Additionally, all students participating in snowboarding are encouraged wear wrist guards and use a snowboard with permanent bindings.

Cost (for both sessions inclusive) Downhill at Calabogie : Renters = $92 (includes equipment, lessons, lift ticket, transportation) Non-renters = $70 (includes lessons, lift ticket, transportation) Snowshoeing at Calabogie= $70 (includes rentals, lift ticket, hot chocolate, guide and transportation) Day 1 Snowshoeing and Day 2 Skiing/Snowboarding = $81

Drop off and Pick up times for Downhill: Jan 19th – leave EOM at 9:15am, return to EOM at 6:30pm Feb 23rd – leave EOM at 9:15am, return to EOM at 6:30pm

The permission form and cheque must be returned by Friday, January 12th, 2018. In addition all students are required to complete the form for equipment rentals, regardless of whether or not they are renting equipment. Online payment options are also available and will be open to the public on December 22nd, 2017

A unique guided Adventure Showshoe Trek at the top of Calabogie Peaks

Mountain. Students will ride up the chairlift to our Top Hut where they will

get snowshoes & poles for the trek. A guide will lead them along the

breathtaking Skyloop Track, which ends back at the Top Hut.

Following a short break, the group will proceed down

the mountain to the base ski lodge.
