OPENING THE DOOR FOR OTHER MEMBERS OR GUESTS:
We are again reminding ALL members DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR
FOR OTHERS. There are valid reasons for this policy: I) The
bartender on duty can ensure guests are signed in (In compliance
with MLCC laws). 2) The person entering is not delinquent in dues,
or a dropped member. 3) The person ringing the doorbell may need
to see an officer of the Aerie. We do understand that you may just
be trying to help if you are sitting close to the door but it is the job
of an employee to buzz the person(s) in.

Please bring any things you may have
to donate to the Aerie. Please mark the bag that it is for the “Bag Lady:and we’ll make sure that she gets it sometime by November 4th so thatwe have time to bag them up before the big day of the party. This canbe jewelery, lotions, soaps, candles, small cosmetic bags, small purses, notepaper & pens, small tools, small sewing kits, figurines, hot pads, decorative kitchen towels, Christmas decorations, scarves or coffeemugs with a package of chocolate in it. The list is endless, just makesure it will fit into a brown paper lunch bag and we’ll do the rest. Thankyou in advance for supplying the “Bag Lady” with her nice “stuff”!

For more than 55 million Americans each month, financialstability is provided through a groundbreaking piece of legisla-tion known as the Social Security Act. America’s largest socialprogram, signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August14, 1935, celebrates 80 years of assistance in 2015, thanks inlarge part to the work of one the country’s most historic commu-nity service organizations, the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

BIG, BIG Thank You A huge thank you goes out to Tom Torrey for finding enter-tainer Michael Jayne. He was just fantastic over the weekendof August 28th and 29th playing from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.What a beautiful voice and an amazing entertainer for all agegroups. Like his web site said, “I sing everything but rap andopera!” And so he does. Sure hope that we get this fella back, hewas G-R-E-A-T!!!
The 2015 Fall Season is about to begin. A sign-up sheet hasbeen posted on the Aerie bulletin board in the game room. Itlooks like a positive number of members are anxious to getgoing. We will begin the Fall season on September 10 at 6:30 p.m.The sign-up sheet is critical, even though two of our regularshave signed up in the Mixed League to play. I’m not insinuatinganything, but I think Chris Gordon and Pat Alloway wouldprefer to remain in the Men’s League. To go along with ourMen’s League a laugh or two coincides with the members thathave been playing right along. It really is a fun time. Thesign-up sheet is usually attached to the Aerie bulletin board inthe game room. We will probably play a twelve week schedule, ending inDecember. We will likely begin our Winter 2016 schedule inmid-January. We often lose a team or two due to “Snow Birds”.Openings will be there. Watch for a sign-up sheet at Christmastime. The “Brown Team” should return. They came ever soclose to a championship last season, but slipped away at theseason end. The league members will consider expansion. You don’t needto be good at shuffleboard, just be prepared for a good time. Weare usually done in the 9:30 p.m. area. Last winter we put out an invitation for a home and homematch with the Imlay City Aerie. They turned us down. Thisyear we will consider a local flavor. Members, this is your board. It helps to offer financial supportto the Aerie. If you have any questions, please call R.C. Carrier at 810-984-3540.

Third Annual Wiffle Ball results The third annual Wiffle Ball tournament was held on July25th and was a great success. We had great weather and thefour teams as well as all the spectators had a great day. Thetournament was won by team Pink-out captained by MikeBennett, with Sloppy Seconds coming in second. Keep tryingSloppy Seconds! We would like to thank all the businesses and individuals fortheir generous donations for the raffles. We would also like tothank all the volunteers, who without their help none of thiswould have been possible. Selling 50/50, raffle tickets, signingeveryone in, food prep, bartending and especially the umpires. There are too many to name, you all know who you are andthanks again. We are looking forward to next year’s event in mid-July andit will be here before you know it. Keep your eye on the newslet-ter for future information. Let’s make next year’s bigger andbetter. Thanks again to everyone involved.
