    APPENDIX C: TEST AND TEST SOLUTIONS

    051-62G1-E02 Prepare for a Quarry Blast Performance Evaluation

    Action: Prepare for a quarry blast.

    Conditions: At a training site, given predrilled bore holes, a demolition set,stemming material, FM 5-250, ST 5-250-1, TM 5-332, a tamping rod,the amount of inert det cord, MDI, and explosives specified by theblast design, a shovel, sandbags, coveralls, safety boots, goggles,gloves, hearing protection, and a hard hat

    Standards: Prime explosives, load bore holes, and assemble a nonelectric firingcircuit for an inert blast in accordance with (IAW) the blast design,FM 5-250, ST 5-250-1, and TM 5-332, without damage to equipmentor the environment and without injury to personnel.

    Safety

    Requirements

    Hard hats must be worn at all times. Hearing protection must be worn whileconducting live blast. Eye protection, gloves and proper foot protection must beworn. Special care and attention must be taken when working with live explosives.Use only non-sparking tools around blast material. No smoking or open flames inblast area

    Considerations

    Avoid unnecessary stripping and damage to vegetation and waterways. Control dustconditions and limit water erosion by dressing area at the end of each day. Avoidunnecessary equipment usage and follow established procedures for cleanup of fluidleaks. Restore site and surrounding areas as close as possible to the originalecological condition.

    (1) Students that fail will be counseled.

    (2) One retest may be given.

    (3) Students will receive additional training prior to retest.

    (4) Students will receive a retest only on tasks failed.

    (5) Allow student questions.

    3. Performance Evaluation Test

    Provide the following information at the test site.

    (1) Read the action, conditions, standards, safety, risk assessment level, and environmental

    considerations statements.

    (2) Inform students that a GO on all performance measures are required to receive a GO for theaction.
