CDSL’S ONLINE TUTORIAL FOR NISM – SERIES VI -DOCESEBI vide its notification dated March 29, 2011 had madeit mandatory to pass NISM Series VI – DepositoryOperations Certification Examination (DOCE) forDepository Participant (DP) officials that are engaged inthe below-mentioned activities:

a) Dealing or interacting with clients,

b) Dealing with securities of clients,

c) Handling redressal of investor grievances,

d) Internal control or risk management,

e) Activities having a bearing on operational risk, or

f) Maintenance of books and records pertaining to theabove activities

In this regard, CDSL had conducted various trainingprograms across India to facilitate these officialssuccessfully clear the NISM – VI – DOCE examination.With a view to offer easy access to the afore-mentionedtraining, CDSL has arranged an Audio-Visual Tutorial,which covers the entire syllabus of DOCE. The audiovisual has been uploaded on “www.Youtube.com” andcan be accessed using the internet. DP officials can alsoview Chapter wise links of the tutorial by referring toCDSL communiqué no. 3756.

UID DETAILS IN CDSL SYSTEMCDSL is pleased to inform that it has made a provisionto capture UID details of individual account holder(s) inthe CDSL system. This facility has been released onMay 31, 2013. BOs desiring to link their UID to theirdemat account should submit an account modificationform to their DP.

PLEDGE SET UP FOR FUTURE DATEPledging is a facility through which a Pledgor can availan advance by offering his securities as collateral to thepledgee. CDSL is pleased to offer a facility whereby thePledgor BO can submit a pledge request with a futuredate as the execution date. The pledge request can beset up in case of nil/insufficient balances in the pledgor’sdemat account. On the execution date, if the pledgedsecurities are not blocked for settlement or they havenot been frozen or already pledged then the pledgeeDP can access the pledge sequence number.

Further, the pledgee BO can give a standing instructionfor accepting a pledge request to its DP to avoidsubmission of a pledge request form every time.

BO-ISIN FREEZE SET UP FOR FUTURE DATEAt present, a BO can freeze his entire account or an ISINin his account or partial quantity of an ISIN in his accountfor current as well as future date for debit/credit/ or both.

CDSL is pleased to introduce a facility whereby a BOwill be able to freeze full quantity of an ISIN for currentor future date for debits / credits / or both, even if the BOdoes not hold securities pertaining to the said ISIN atany point of time from the date of account opening tillthe time of initiating the said freeze. This will help BOsmitigate anticipated risks pertaining to future credits ofsecurities in the demat account by freezing them,beforehand.

RAJIV GANDHI EQUITY SAVINGS SCHEME (RGESS)The Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme, 2012, has beenintroduced by the Government of India with an objectiveto encourage flow of savings of the small investors indomestic capital market. Through this scheme, new retailinvestors can save tax by opening a demat account andinvesting in eligible securities under RGESS.

BOs opening an account under RGESS category shouldprovide Annexure B to their DP giving details of RGESSeligible securities which should be excluded from hisRGESS portfolio, within one month from the date ofpurchase / allotment of that security through corporateaction / initial public offer. CDSL has now provided anoption to the DPs for online entry / upload of such detailsgiven in form B, in the CDSL system. A separate reportwill be made available to the DPs about credits of RGESSeligible securities received in BO accounts designatedfor RGESS but not considered for freezing due to variousreasons. SUCCESSFUL FACILITATION OF ELECTRONICVOTING

CDSL’s e-Voting System aims to reduce theadministrative and storage costs associated with PostalBallots as well as AGMs / EGMs while facilitatingimmediate declaration of results after the close of thevoting. Additionally, investors can cast their votes at theirconvenience from home / office till the last day.

At present, 183 companies have signed the agreementwith CDSL for its e-Voting System of which 62companies have used CDSL’s e-Voting platform toconduct electronic voting for AGMs and postal ballotresolutions on 77 occasions. GREEN INITIATIVE FOR CORPORATES

CDSL’s service ‘Go Green’ offers corporate entities toconvey all communications to their shareholders throughe-mail. As the name suggests, Go Green aims to use‘greener’ electronic practices of communication over theconventional printing and posting physical mail.

Companies can use this inexpensive and efficient servicefor sending any communication to their shareholderswhich would result in reduced costs and contribute to agreener environment. At present, 51 companies haveenrolled with CDSL for availing this facility.

DISCONTINUATION OF KYC DOCUMENTSUBMISSION AT BRANCHES

SEBI, vide its notification no. LAD-NRO/GN/2012-13/35/6998 dated March 22, 2013 has mandatedupload of scanned images of KYC documents inthe KRA system. As a result, there is a significantdecrease in the receipt of physical KYCdocuments from intermediaries. After consideringthe above circumstances, CVL-KRA hasdiscontinued the acceptance of KYC documents atits regional offices. Intermediaries should submitthe physical copies of such documents to theMumbai address only

CVL-KRA TARIFF STRUCTURE

CVL, vide its communiqué no. CVL/OPS/INTERM/GENRL/13-062 dated February 9, 2013 informedintermediaries about the provision to upload scannedimages on www.cvlkra.com. Intermediaries that do nothave scanning and storing facilities can send theirphysical documents to CVL-KRA at Mumbai and availof CVL-KRA’s scanning and storage.
