ABOUT THE ORIENT AVIATION MEDIA GROUP
The Orient Aviation Media Group began life 23 years ago as Orient Aviation, a quarterly magazine set up in Hong Kong to cover Asia-Pacific commercial aviation.
Since that first issue in October 1993, Orient Aviation has grown into the Orient Aviation Media Group (OAMG), a B2B print and digital news platform that reports the region’s commercial aviation news to a global industry audience.
OAMG’s portfolio now comprises Orient Aviation, e-Orient Aviation, Orient Aviation China, Orient Aviation’s Week in the Asia-Pacific and orientaviation.com.
In the last five years, the group has expanded its portfolio to include invitation only industry events; occasions that offer commercial aviation leaders exceptional opportunities to meet their peers and consolidate vital business relationships.
These gatherings include our thought leadership series, Lunch with Orient Aviation, our aviation and environment conference, Greener Skies, and Social Skies – a new forum that analyses the impact of social media on commercial aviation.
An annual highlight of the OAMG calendar is the Orient Aviation Person of the Year awards dinner, held at year end to honor the group’s airline CEO of the year. Recent winners have included consistent star performer, All Nippon Airways, innovative Air New Zealand and outstanding airline leader and industry diplomat, Tony Tyler.
In the year ahead, the Orient Aviation Media Group will continue to strive to be the best and the first in delivering commercial aviation news to our readership – the men and women leading Asia-Pacific and Middle East airlines, airports and services. In doing so, we also will deliver this critical target audience to your global aerospace clients.

MARCH 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORT AIRLINE NETWORK EXPANSION IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC: A ROUTE EXPLOSION
Orient Aviation has the largest readership of Asia-Pacific airline planning managers and C-Suite commercial aviation executives in the region. In the March 2017 edition of Orient Aviation, which will benefit advertisers through a bonus distribution at Routes Asia, our editorial team will report on the network planning ambitions of the region’s airlines. The exclusive coverage will outline carriers’ goals for bigger global networks to North and Latin America, Europe and Africa – plans that will bring multi-billion dollar profits to airports across the world.
Also in March. The Asia-Pacific will be the world’s largest MRO market in the next decade and the quality of its MROs will drive the sector’s growth. In Orient Aviation’s March edition, which will coincide with the MRO East Asia conference in Seoul in South Korea, our industry insight special report will examine one trend in particular: OEMs’ new trend of offering different aftermarket contracts over an aircraft’s life cycle to accommodate a new customer base- lessors and second owners of aircraft.
APRIL 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORT ON BOARD WIFI: THE ONLY WAY TO GO FOR ASIA-PACIFIC AIRLINES
Wifi in Asia - a gold mine for providers? In a region where airline passengers are mad for 24/7 digital connectivity, industry surveys increasingly show that availability of wifi onboard is a critical factor in airline choice for passengers. Asia-Pacific airlines are global leaders in satisfying passenger demand when it comes to onboard service. The challenge for a region with inflight service standards that best the world is keeping up with technological change in a social media driven world. Orient Aviation speaks to leading airlines about a difficult decision: how to monetarise 24/7 wifi onboard when passengers demand nothing less than permanent connectivity.

MAY 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORT AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC: AN UPDATE
If there is one constant about Air Traffic Management (ATM) in the region, it is its woeful state in many countries. Passengers can’t get enough of flying. There are too many airlines flying to too many destinations that don’t have air navigation systems to match passenger growth. For suppliers it is a big business that is only going to get bigger. In a welcome trend, Asia-Pacific governments and private/public investment groups are pushing through improved systems and more streamlined ATM pathways, especially in China. Orient Aviation speaks to industry leaders on the success, so far, of the ATC improvement program.

OCTOBER 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORT KEEPING YOUR AIRLINE SAFE IN THE CYBER ERA
Only the paranoid survive when it comes to cyber security said the CEO of bank code verifier SWIFT in a recent industry discussion. In our October 2017 edition of Orient Aviation, the issues surrounding developing sound cyber security systems, given increased reliance on data, will be the focus of our special report. We will look at systems that will reduce the risks of cyber breaches in the cockpit, in the aircraft’s MRO cycle and in the IT systems that keep airlines in operation. This report, which is of critical importance to Asia-Pacific airlines, will have a bonus distribution at IATA’s World AVSEC conference.
MRO CHALLENGES IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC
As the region’s fleet balloons MRO faces many challenges, including the upgrading of MRO staff skills, engine leasing challenges, keeping up to date with repair technologies and dealing more often with a growing customer base – aircraft lessors. Each November, leading commercial airline organisation, the Association of Asia-Pacific Airlines, gathers together the region’s airline CEOs and leading representatives of OEMs and governments at its annual Assembly of Presidents. Orient Aviation will report on the key issues that concern these airline leaders at a conference where Orient Aviation, as the region’s only exclusively commercial airline magazine, will have a wide-ranging bonus distribution.
Also in Orient Aviation in November, we will publish an Asia-Pacific engine census, a commercial aviation map of airline trends in engine purchasing, leasing and maintenance.

JANUARY-MARCH 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORTMAINLAND CHINA’S LEADING AIRLINES: AN UPDATE
In our first quarterly edition of Orient Aviation China, our editorial team will present the most up to date guide to Mainland China’s airlines, both government and privately owned. The country’s carriers have to staff and transport passengers in the biggest domestic market in the world as demand from its huge middle class to travel to Europe, The Americas and Africa grows.
APRIL – JUNE 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORTAIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT IN MAINLAND CHINA
A large proportion of China’s notorious ATC delays come down to China’s military which has control over the nation’s air space. Even along the most congested air corridor in China - from Beijing to Shanghai and onto Guangzhou to Hong Kong - air space can blocked off for hours every day, at very short notice, by China’s air force. Airlines say the Chinese government is responding to the problem and that there is an improvement in carriers’ on time performance. Orient Aviation reports.
JULY-SEPTEMBER 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORT PILOT TRAINING AND RECRUITMENT IN CHINA: A DEMAND DRIVEN OPPORTUNITY FOR FLIGHT ACADEMIES
Mainland airlines, as their fleets expand so rapidly, have chronic shortages of qualified senior pilots. In a big business for airline recruitment companies and training schools, China’s airlines are matching or exceeding the salaries and conditions of first world airlines to attract top class flying talent to their China-headquartered carriers. The windfall employment conditions for the “right stuff pilots”, no matter their age or nationality, is only going to grow reports Orient Aviation China.
OCTOBER-DECEMBER 2017 INDUSTRY INSIGHT SPECIAL REPORT CHINA’S MRO BONANZA
MRO in China is one of the fastest growing centres for the sector in the region. Mainland airlines are spending billions of dollars on new aircraft, but many other carriers, including Mainland-owned airlines flying out of Hong Kong, are operating with older airplanes that require extensive maintenance.
Orient Aviation China reports on the opportunities for MRO companies at Mainland Chinese airlines.
