Flexible Circuit Board Repairing• Keep the temperature of the soldering iron around 270 ˚C dur-

ing repairing.• Do not touch the soldering iron on the same conductor of the

circuit board (within 3 times).• Be careful not to apply force on the conductor when soldering

or unsoldering.

Notes on chip component replacement• Never reuse a disconnected chip component.• Notice that the minus side of a tantalum capacitor may be dam-

aged by heat.

NOTES ON LASER DIODE EMISSION CHECKThe laser beam on this model is concentrated so as to be focused onthe disc reflective surface by the objective lens in the optical pick-up block. Therefore, when checking the laser diode emission,observe from more than 30 cm away from the objective lens.

Note: 1. CD Block is basically designed to operate without adjustment.There-fore, check each item in order given.

2. Use YEDS-18 disc (3-702-101-01) unless otherwise indicated.Use a disc copied from YEDS-18 for CD-RW test.

3. Use an oscilloscope with more than 10MΩ impedance.4. Clean the object lens by an applicator with neutral detergent

when the signal level is low than specified value with thefollowing checks.

and TP703 (VREF) with DC range.2. Turn on the power, while pressing two buttons u and

PLAY MODE simultaneously. “88” is displayed.3. Press the x button,then press the PLAY MODE button.

Adjust the RV701 after the message “82” is displayed.4. Press the PLAY MODE twice. Adjust the RV702 after the

message “82” is displayed and “REP” blinks.

Note: A clear RF signal waveform means that the shape “◊” can be clearlydistinguished at the center of the waveform.
