ADMINISTRATIVE LAW JUDGE’S RULING On May 11, 2016, several parties filed and served the following motion: “Joint Motion Requesting Extension of Time to Submit Settlement Agreements.” Joint parties move to extend the date for submittal to the Commission of settlement agreements regarding (1) “return water” from the Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project (MPWSP) desalination plant and (2) the discharge of brine from the MPWSP’s desalination plant into the ocean. These settlement agreements are currently due by May 15, 2016 (30 days after the last day of hearing; see Rule 12.1(a) of the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure). Joint parties request that the deadlines be extended by 30 days, to June 14, 2016. Not all parties joined in the motion, but no party has thus far responded to state an objection. A ruling is necessary soon since the upcoming deadline is within a

few days. The Commission need not wait for responses before ruling on a motion. (Rule 1.11(g).) The Joint Motion should be granted. IT IS RULED that the May 11, 2016 joint motion requesting an extension of time to submit settlement agreements is granted. As a result, the deadline is extended by 30 days, to June 14, 2016. The Docket Office shall formally file this Ruling. Burton W. Mattson for Gary Weatherford Administrative Law Judge
