“Afreen” challenges the world to Look beyond the Obvious

The roots of religious terrorism lie beyond the headlines and breaking news! We hear the news on TV and radio, swipe over headlines on social media …and soon, forget that all that ever happened. It’s because we assume we are in the West and all that DOES NOT happen here. Safe in our cocoons, we have become immune and indifferent to terrorism and even worse - Human Trafficking. Two different criminal offenses but the same approach is employed; grooming of the vulnerable to act upon the wishes of a strong, persuasive group. Religious terrorism and human trafficking are issues that often make it to the headlines but ironically almost never to the reel. Director Aashish Chanana has dared to bring these social issues to the screen with a view to educate the audience on how real and how close to home, these threats really are. It takes courage, vision and a certain amount of passion to make movies on these issues. The idea is to bring awareness and recognition to our movie watching audiences across the world to instil them to watch out for the emotionally weak & vulnerable members of our society who might fall prey to trafficking or terrorism. The first step to bring about lasting change is to accept our reality right now! Through movies like “AFREEN” and his next film on Human Trafficking already in pre -production, Director Aashish Chanana has challenged individuals from different walks of life to question themselves on what their role is on addressing such vital and critical social issues. The choice lies within us; to make a difference and liberate our future generations from the claws of terror and abuse or to remain oblivious to reality!

The dilemma today’s world is faced with, is that “AFREEN” is not a single, one-time phenomena. She is an anti-heroine symbolizing thousands of vulnerable ISIS recruits who when faced with existential dread, fall prey to cult indoctrination. “AFREEN” offers a perspective on where the roots of terrorism lie. According to the Director, terrorism stems from “Religious and spiritual conflict, imperialism, war crimes, propaganda from all sides, cult indoctrination & the existential dread over an uncertain future.” “AFREEN” is a dynamic character that evolves with every other terrorist event in the past few years. Director Aashish Chanana worked closely with the script writer Mark and it took seven attempts to finalize the script to ensure that “Afreen” is as close to reality as possible. There are positive and negative traits in her personality like any of us and due to that viewers can relate to how she feels and understand the rationale behind her decisions. To date, the movie has won way over 2 dozen festival Nominations and Awards and is being lauded by critics all over the world. This and the fact that the movie’s trailer has already gone viral with close to half a million views, goes on to prove that the film has immense potential at the box office and would yield favorable returns on investment for investors & distributors. My Passion for Property Sourcing made me Quit my Day Job! Today, I live to achieve my Aspirations

Good day and I hope you are doing well. I quit my day job the day I realized that if I pursue my passion in property sourcing, the return on investment that I would be making would surpass my annual income. So what exactly is property sourcing and how did I end up pursuing my passion Unfortunately, in today’s dynamic work environment, job insecurity is a reality. I faced the brunt of it at an early age when my mother, a professional banker, was made redundant one fine day. It was a moment of realization for me and I realized the importance of having alternate streams of income. The importance of having a buffer in form of cash flow or equity that can be banked upon in difficult times. I would define it as; “Property sourcing is the activity of finding, and securing a property on a contract that you can later sell to someone else for a fee or purchase yourself” So why I chose property sourcing as compared to other options like stocks, bonds & fixed deposits

1. Property is tangible, you can see the property, the model of portfolio building is relatively easier

2. If proper research is conducted before buying the property and the right investment is made, it can pay off substantially in the long term.

The keyword here is Right Investment and that in a nutshell means invest in red hot property and stay away from negative cash flow properties. I have been in the property sourcing industry in UK since 2005.During this time, I have had the opportunity to network with the most successful property investors and through my on field hands on experience and the collective experience of industry experts, I have learnt a lot. Not only I had the change to do some amazing character work but also started studying at the Susan Batson Studio and am loving it. This past month I discovered an amazing podcast called “The moment” from Brian Koppelman, the creator, and the showrunner of the TV show “Billions”. His podcast has some really cool interviews ranging from actors, chefs, screenwriters and all the cool people you can think of.
