A fresh approach to content creation

Peer2Peer Education presents a fresh approach to allied

health assistance.

It is our goal for Certificate 11, 111 and 1V graduates to

secure employment, and make a real, practical and rapid

transition to the growing community services workforce.

Our Learning Strategies Using blended learning, we have designed an engaging

approach that focuses on

• Training and assessment strategy contextualised for

the modern community services workshop

• Assessment strategies by performance elements and

nominal hours

• Tailored lectures, resources and knowledge

components linked to workforce requirements and

real world scenarios

We use a blend of components that can be

• Adapted for e learning

• Adapted for face to face

• Used in a blended style for tutorials, workshops and

independent study

Contextualisation We encourage all RTO’s considering purchasing our

products that recent ASQA findings in audit reports

involve a requirement for organisations to contextualise,

review and adapt products they purchase as part of good

practice, validation and commitment to training currency

and industry expertise.

Nominal Hours are adapted from the Victorian

Government Purchasing Guide for the CHC Training

packages (2016)

Nominal hours are a guideline of how much time

would be taken in a range of guided training activities,

independent, group based and lecture based knowledge

development.

Practical skills are to be developed over the course

duration through an interactive mix of role plays,

scenarios, and work placement hours.

Benchmarking competence and nominal hoursWe use nominal hours in content development to ensure

learners will have the best opportunity to develop

competence and confidence in required skills over time.

We use nominal hours as a guide of how long it takes to

• Complete an independent e learning lecture

• Complete an in-class lecture

• Complete a quiz, task or knowledge activity

• Develop a skill

• Meet workplace and unit performance requirements

Performance Hours We include performance hours where a practical

component needs to be demonstrated in order to obtain

the unit of competence, even if a work placement is not

required overall to obtain the qualification.

One core unit in the CHC42015 includes a performance

criteria of 100 hours of demonstrated advocacy in a

community services setting.

Learning strategies track the reasoning behind using

a certain assessment task to develop knowledge and

demonstrate knowledge acquisition in a range of

contexts.

Benchmarking Learning Strategies We benchmark learning strategies against

• Knowledge evidence

• Performance criteria

• Elements

• Nominal Hours

To ensure a truly integrated approach to each unit of

competence.

Why use nominal hours? Learning Strategies
