SPORTS PROMOTION AWARD

The school was awarded the prestigious CBSE Sports Promotion Award 2013-14 for its remarkable support and contribution in the field of games and sports. The award was given away by Smt Smriti Irani, Hon’ble HRD Minister on 4th September 2014.

CBSE, EAST ZONE, CLUSTER [III] ATHLETIC MEET (GIRLS)

The school conducted CBSE, East Zone, Cluster [III] Athletic Meet (Girls) consecutively for the third time. The Meet was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports) and Guest of Honour Mrs. Seema Antil Punia (Gold Medalist & Bhim Awardee).

The Opening Ceremony was marked by a march past, military band playing patriotic tunes and a cultural performance by the students. Around 650 athletes from 66 schools of 43 districts of U.P and all districts of Uttarakhand participated with a great zeal and enthusiasm in all track and field events. 52 finals were conducted in this mega event of three days.

The Closing Ceremony of Athletic Meet was held on 17th Oct’ 2014 in the graceful presence of Shri Manoj Dhama, Chairman (Nagar Palika, Loni, Ghaziabad).

‘KHUD BUDH, KHEL VIGYAN KE’

With the mission to popularize Science and encourage children to “Learn by Doing” Science Game Show by Vigyan Prasar, Department Of Science And Technology, Govt. of India, was conducted in the school in which 22 students of Classes VI and VIII participated. This programme was filmed in our school

campus and will be the part of ‘Khudbud, Khel Vigyan Ke’ – which is a series of 52 episodes. The Show was telecast on National Doordarshan Channel at 9:30 a.m. on 4th Oct.’ 2014.

TRIP TO SHIMLA

An excursion to Shimla was organised by the school. 40 students along with 4 teachers attended the same. The students visited Kufri, Mall Road among other places. A variety of activities were conducted which the students enjoyed to the fullest. Students were also overwhelmed to see the natural beauty. The trip was very refreshing and entertaining.

NAMING CEREMONY OF BLOCK-A BUILDING

A Tribute To The Mentor Hon’ble Justice P.N.Khanna

Block A of the school building was named after Hon’ble Trustee Justice P.N.Khanna on 6th September, 2014.

Hon’ble Justice P.N Khanna(1912-2013), born in Lahore 28th Jan 1912, did MA(Eco) & LLB from FC College and Law College, Lahore and got enrolled as Advocate High Court, Lahore in 1942. His association with Salwan Education Trust continued even after his retirement as Life Trustee. He was also the Chairman of Salwan Public School, Rajender Nagar and Gyan Devi Salwan College.

The programme was graced by the presence of the family members of Hon’ble Justice P.N.Khanna and Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan, Hon’ble Chairman Salwan Education Trust, Sh. Paramjeet Khanna Hon’ble Trustee and Directors and Heads of various institutions.

PREPARING STUDENTS FOR THE CHALLENGES AHEAD

Life Skills Workshop for Students

A two day capacity building workshop on Life Skills was organised for students of classes VII to X on 26th and 27thNovember 2014. The resource persons for the session AVM Javeed, Director, Training Vertical, Salwan Education Trust, Ms. Swati Nagpal and Mrs. Jyoti Choudhary, Counselors extensively discoursed on Life Skills. The students gained substantial knowledge on the concepts of empathy, inter personal relationships, problem solving, communication skill, coping with stress, creative thinking, self awareness to name a few.

The workshop inspired the students to exhibit and inculcate positive behaviour.

YAMUNA RESTORATION CAMPAIGN

Supporting Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign of C.B.S.E., the school took a lead in Community Outreach Programme by creating awareness about the cleanliness and restoration of the Yamuna among the residents on the banks of Yamuna River on the occasion of Chatt festival. Residents and passers welcomed the initiative and the students were able to meet around thousands of residents of the area. Students distributed pamphlets and also collected samples of water from the river and checked the impurity level in the labs at school.

VISIT TO NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE

To explore science and inculcate scientific aptitude among students, a visit to National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan New Delhi was organised on 24th Jan’2015 for the students of class VI-VIII.

Students visited various galleries like Fun Science Gallery, Pre historic Life Gallery, Human Biology Gallery, Our Science and Technology Gallery, Emerging Technologies Gallery, Information Revolution Gallery and the Water Elixir Of Life. They were briefed about ways to treat and preserve water. After the gallery visit, the students were shown a 3D movie ‘Reason of the extinction of Dinosaurs.’’ The students learnt invaluable lessons about the preservation of scientific and technological heritage of the country.

LEADERS OF TOMMOROW

Deavnsh Bansal (Class-XI) and Pankaj Prajapati (Class-X) were shortlisted by Nanhi Chhaan – National Essay Contest. They qualified to attend one week personality development at NIIT 15th – 19th December 2014-15.

The students had the opportunity to interact with thirty students from different parts of the country and learnt the experience to face real situations in the dynamic world.

WIZARDS AND WINNERS OF TECH BIZ

Five students of our school participated in category B of Tech Biz Competition at DPS Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad. The competition was conducted for naming and launching of products in which our students won Third position and bagged the trophy by naming their product “Blaze Operating System in collaboration with hope to Humanity”.

ADVENTURE CAMP

‘Rocksport Adventure Camp’ was organized on 24th jan 2015 to create an environment with ample opportunities for a child to experience adventure.

The students performed adventurous activities with a lot of zeal and zest. Plethora of events were conducted during the camp such as zipline, rock climbing, tug of war, Burma bridge, commando crawl, commado net, hopscotch, hammer steel, tent pitching, three tier hurdle and rapid run. The camp also benefited students in testing their physical strength and fitness.

INTERACTION WITH DIRECTOR, IIM AHMEDABAD

Five Students of classes X & XI had an opportunity to interact with Prof.Ashish Nanda, the Director of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad at Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar. Prof. Nanda has an impeccable global academic and research experience and is also an alumnus of Salwan Public School Rajendra Nagar. Students asked several career oriented questions and he acquainted them with ample career opportunities for their bright future.

HEALTH MELA

To give a self learning experience and empower children with the knowledge, attitude and skills of healthy living , the school organized Health Mela for primary classes on 29th Nov,2014.The parents also attended Health Awareness Programme.This included performances on “Eat good, feel good” , “Eat right, be right” followed by a Skit on: “Eat healthy, be Healthy”. The students also presented their thoughts in Show and Tell “Act healthy, Stay healthy”, in which they dressed up as nail cutter, shoe shiner, brush, sanitizer etc and showed their importance in daily life. This was followed by PEC activity for the parents which they enjoyed by experiencing the same.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY To honour the legendary Hockey player Dhyan Chand, the school celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2014. Different sports activities for Classes I-V were organized. These included PE Card Bean Bag Relay, PE Card Running ,Jumping & Hoping, Kids Athletics, Baton relay, Kids Athletics Forward Squat Jump, Kids, Athletics, Hurdle race etc.

17TH INVITATIONAL TAEKWONDO POOMSE CHAMPIONSHIP’2014

Our School Participated in 17th Invitational Taekwondo Poomse Championship’2014 held at Noida Stadium,UP on 16th Nov’2014.

Students made us proud by winning 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals. Gold Medalists- Sarva Dubey(III-C), Divyanshu Ray(V-A), PulkitChawla(VI-A) SIlver Medalists- Ananya Sankar(VI-A), Abhinav Yadav(VI-A), Gunika Aggarwal(IV-A) Bronze Medalists - Gurdeep Chaudhary (VI-B) and Huner Aggarwal (VI-A).

33rd UP STATE YOGA CHAMPIONSHIP ‘2015’ The school participated in 33rd UP State Yoga Championship2015 held at Noida College of Physical Education, Dhoom Manikpur, Dadri on 30th January 2015.Students brought laurels to the school by winning 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
